Yeah they recently sent me a message saying that they would start throttling people now. Is this a result of a so-called merger?

They've been throttling people since January of this year. You sure it wasnt specifically you they were talking about? What merger are you talking about?

Whenever I would check my account it would show that my speeds were not throttled but I just got the message a week or so ago. I heard from someone that Boost was merging. I wasn't sure...

I hope they combine both good things of the company, shrinking plan from boost, and unlimit data no matter the price from virgin

yes, they released the kdz format if you want to flash it with the kdz flasher, keep in mind that the lg flash tool is completely different from the kdz flasher. I'll just wait for the OTA, my ETA based on LGs past source release and OTA release that they can be 2-4 weeks apart. So my guess is their gonna start rolling it out anywhere from the 7th of this month to the 31.

If anyone updates through KDZ, then run the following commands after you have updated...

Code:
adb shell

su

dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot of=/sdcard/aboot.img

dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img

dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery of=/sdcard/recovery.img
This will make copies of your aboot, boot, and recovery images to your internal SD. Then transfer those 3 images to your PC and zip them up and post a link to zip.

I'll need those images so I can make a kernel for ZV5 firmware.

So I need help in falshing the Zv5 update. I've tried updating it with a kdz flasher I found but no luck. I would apreciate some help.

It doesnt work for our phone, just gotta wait for OTA like i said.

Yes, as it turns out this cab file doesn't work with any updater. The KDZ updater only recognizes kdz files so that doesn't work since the cab file only contains a wdb and wdh file. The ancient lg flash tool which uses the COM port method doesn't work either. I think there's a problem with that program in general (or perhaps all LG programs are shit?). The LG Tools KP500 tool also does not work and dies with a page error despite following the directions. And last the latest official LG Setup exe also fails where it properly detects the phone, detects that there is an upgrade available, downloads the same 1 gigabyte file from the website (can't specify a local file even though I already downloaded it) and then it starts extracting and after a little while fails with ?????? (some goofy email address I can't remember) ????? I think I would be really ****** if I bricked my phone when none of LG's software works.

Theres a way to turn the .cab file into a kdz file. Already tried it and it still doesnt work. Im about as far as you got. you're brave using the kp500 tool. Thats the one where you flash with assistant? If so you're really lucky that you didnt brick your phone. All we gotta do now is wait a week or two for the ota. Lg official tool update tool doesnt work with our phone. Its incompatible.

Hey well, I was going to try anything to see if I could update it but nothing works. No big thing. I just bought the phone, so if I bricked it, I'll just return it to the store. :-) How does the OTA update work? Is it automatic or do I have to initiate it? If I have to initiate it, where would I go for that? Is it under system updates and "Update LG software"? Once I update to ZV5, will I have to reflash cwm and the loki unsecured kernel?

You will get prompt with a notification saying theirs an update available. You can download it but you dont have to install it right away. You have to be on pure stock. stock kernel stock system no edits whatsoever and no cwm or init recovery. when thats all done install the update. then try our root method to see if it still works and yeah you can install cwm again. If you happen get the notification before me. just reply here and lemmie know so that i can force push the OTA to my phone as well.

Why do you have to be on pure stock? Shouldn't the LG firmware update just overwrite everything? Have you ever tried an OTA update when not on pure stock? I have no way of returning to pure stock at this point as you can tell from my previous post.

Because before any android the update begins, as a security feature, The system Checks every app and system file MD5 sum to make sure that the update is installing on the correct system and to also make sure that nothing has been changed with the system. If the MD5 sum hash comes back different from stock it will abort the update. use the unbrick thread to get back to complete stock. Plus no Official android update *overwrites* things, it patches them which is why its important to make you're stock.

Have you tried returning to stock? I've tried the unbricking instructions as I already mentioned using the com port program and just reflashing ZV4 and it doesn't work. If what you say is true about checking md5 sums, then it would be impossible to just reflash ZV4 because it would give up due to the modifications made with the different cwm and kernel.

Yes i've done it a couple of times you gotta use it to get back to stock. Now Of course i have backup measures that you can use to get back to stock yourself just by using cwm but we might as well fix your problem with the unbricking instructions cause what if you really do brick your phone in the future;) what was the problem that you were having?

I've tried several times in windows xp with the lg flash tool 1.4 and 1.5. The only copy I have of ZV4 is the LG870ZV4_06.zip file which just contains a tot file. When I set up all the com ports and install the drivers, I run the LG flash tool program with either the bypassed megaload dll or turning the clock back to 2012 and using the serial code without net access. I set the com port to 1 on the LG program and port 41 on the driver. I push the arrow, it says Waiting, then fails every time with the previousload() error. It fails with that error if the phone is plugged in with the usb cable or not. That's as far as I get. If there is a method to flash back to ZV4 with the cwm, I would love to know. I assume when you flash to ZV4 with the cwm, it will replace the cwm with stock?
