At least not my phone this time

Even Samsungs today mirror Apples or sometimes Motorolas, especially since there's no defining 'Samsung' feature like with the old TouchWiz models like the S4 or S5, where not only could you tell that it was an S4 or S5 based on the rear cover and camera, but the logo of 'Samsung' was emblazoned both on back and the front, and the iconic home button/capacitive menu and back keys.

Today? they're all in the sea of multi-camera, no buttons, 6.5"+ sasquatch phones running a version of Android that looks far too much like modern iOS. Basic, flat, boring, no repairability, not even a way to easily replace the battery.

Unless LTE dies in the future, there ain't nothing that makes me want anything newer than the Galaxy S5. I find it sort of funny and sad at the same time that whenever you boot up a modern Samsung, be it a flagship or an A-series, they just say 'Samsung Galaxy', not even giving them a name anymore. Just a generic label, and no more boot animations or music. Why did the fun have to die is what I ask? Why did we have to lose so much competition? Why can't we have WebOS, Symbian, Meego, Android, iOS, Java, and more? We literally have two phone OSs now. Lack of competition stifles innovation!

Help Default phone app won't unmute

well if you factory reset the phone and you are still having issues, then you ,ight have a hardware issue. i would take it in to have it looked at and hopefully fixed.
Thanks for that, ocnbrze. I thought that it might be hardware but the fact that skype and audio recorder still work fine (what's the difference between skype, whatsapp and talkatone?), I went off the hardware idea. When I reset the phone, I initiated an auto-migrate (including ver12 upgrade) from my backup. Unfortunately, my backup was made just prior to the reset so it is possible I migrated the problem back into the phone. I am now hoping there is a driver/app fix or other user who went through this with a resolution before blindly going down the hardware route. I am currently abroad and the thought of handing over my phone, for who knows how long, is not appealing.

Mic not working for calls

Hello,

I've been dealing with this problem for a while and was wondering if anyone had a clue on how to fix this.

Manufacturer - Samsung
Model - Note 9
Software version - Android 10
Phone not rooted
Specifics of the problem :

When I want to place a call from either my carrier or voip like WhatsApp, Signal etc... my mic is not working - no one can hear me.
The app all have permissions to use the microphone.
When using the voice recorder it pick up everything fine with no problem.

I don't seem to find why this happens and would appreciate any help.

Best regards,
I have this same issue. This is what I have done but none have resolved it.

Actions: safe mode, other phone apps (eg virus/malware scans, installed google phone, whatsapp, talkatone, etc), using external headphones with mic, swapped-out sim, google play protect and checked all permissions and removed other mic-using apps, factory reset

I have an issue with voice calls in that my mic will not unmute (I can hear person called fine but they can't hear me). Hitting mute button only alternates green/white. Only apps tried so far with no issue are skype & voice recorder. Sim tested good in another sam phone (no mic issues).

Cannot login to any Google account on Xiaomi Poco X3

You can't download anything from Play Store?
Passwords and Security - Privacy : are the Google Play System and Security updates within the last four months?

I don't know if I would remove the Google account, testing your log in details on another device first, and rebooting and putting it back on (not factory resetting).

Maybe check Settings - Mi Account - Xiaomi account and check your phone number and personal details as well as your Mi / Xiaomi account number are there. If not you might have one if you ordered directly.

If so you can submit a query in Settings - Services and Feedback - Feedback and use Logs to include software info stuff. There were fairly quick to respond to me in the past (1 - 3 days).

It's probably something simple in Settings somewhere. There's a Second Soace thing but I don't think that involves a second user account.

I did have problems using Google apps in the past. I think it was while waiting for a large update when everything was months behind.

Galaxy S20+ need to change password on email account

Thanks for the reply, Mike. But when I choose the gear for Settings, I don't have a category called "Account and Imports". I do see "Accounts and backup". I've looked in there but didn't see anywhere to change passwords. The icon for the email app I'm using is a red circle with a white envelope. I think that's the Samsung email app. I don't understand why it doesn't ask me to enter a password when the sync fails.

Audio problem (Voice-to-Text / audio recording)

Over the years I have seen numerous post of unusual things happening after a screen replacement. As ocnbrze said get a second opinion from a professional. LG no longer makes phones. I doubt this issue will ever be resolved. You might want to start looking for a new phone.
All of those features that I mentioned are acting up were working fine prior to the screen replacement so, if that seems to happen commonly that, I would assume, had something to do with it.

The place that did the screen repair seems to be able to get LG parts still since they got the new screen and a new microphone so I will try to see if they can repair it but, I will look for other places that also do repairs that might be more helpful.

I'm really disappointed that LG stopped making phones because I really prefer their interface over Samsung. I think it's still possible to order LG phones on Amazon, though. I would assume if I were to purchase one T-Mobile would still be able to activate their services on it since I know various providers allow people who switch providers to keep their old phones but, perhaps you might know for certain one way or the other.

If I do have to get a new phone from T-Mobile, which brand / model would you recommend? I know Samsung is generally the most popular android phone brand now, but are there any that have a more similar interface to LG that you know of? I'm mainly concerned about being able to transfer all my stuff from my LG to a different brand of phone since I've always had LGs and used the LG Mobile Switch to transfer things over from an old phone to a new one.

Thanks for the help.

Help Managing the screen background

I don't think you can do anything about it. It is what it is.

Of course this is software, so in principle if you could find the piece of code responsible and change it then you could do something. But you'd have to find the bit of the system behind this, probably decompile it, edit, probably recompile and replace (take a Nandroid backup before trying anything like that). I don't offhand know where to find this though. It's not something that they provide a control for or which the launcher can alter.

Help New phone - moving some data?

My new phone is a Pixel 7 Pro and the old phone is a Pixel 3XL
So you are the other person in the world that plays Enjoy Sudoku. :p For what its worth, my stat's carried through most phones using the various transfer tools up until my Pixel 7, but at the time, I wasn't able to run Enjoy Sudoku as I got it from the Amazon Free App of the Day and I couldn't load it for a few months.

Help [Solved] HTC One M8 stuck on HTC/HTC One logo.

"Storage card" is your internal storage, or more precisely it's the part of the internal storage that's available to the user for apps, data and media. This is historical in origin, but the user-accessible part of the storage can be viewed as if it were a storage card (a decade ago you'd find references to an "internal SD card", which was really a partition in the internal storage and not an SD card at all).

So what it tells me is the size of your actual system partition, and that that isn't growing. This "user volume" of the internal storage is 10934 MiB in size, where "MiB" is used to denote the binary definition of "MegaByte". This is equal to 10.6 GiB, while your phone has a capacity of 16 GB (decimal) = 14.9 GiB. So that tells us that your system partitions total 4.3 GiB in size (or 4.6 GB in decimal units), which is pretty consistent with your U11.

Unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem, it just tells us that the actual system partition is not growing in size. The problem is that 6215 MiB (= 6.07 GiB or 6.52 GB) of "system data" you can see in the second shot. My guess is that that is being added into the "system" usage in your storage menu. The trouble is that without root you can't see what is actually in there, so that doesn't help us understand the cause or fix it.

Did you get a lot of app updates after doing the factory reset? My guess would be that any system app that was also in the Play Store would probably be updated, since the ROM is bound to contain old versions (as it's old itself), and that would contribute to some of this. But it's hard to believe that adds up to 6 GB, and that wouldn't keep growing with use. You've ascertained that caches don't count for a lot of it, so that only leaves system app data (which you probably don't want to erase). But it does still seem like a lot.
At least 20 apps were updated but for now it is staying at around 8GB. Before that I had less apps installed when "System" reached 10GB. So I guess as long as it doesn't get over 8GB like before I won't mind. I will look into rooting the phone since it seems like it could be really useful for finding/fixing issues like this one. In the end if the phone continues to have issues I can replace the motherboard because when I bought it I got another one with a broken screen that seems to be functional. Thank you for the help :).

Duplicate contacts problem...

There are two places where this is setup to receive emails. The first is in Your Account, within the Preferences, automatically watch content you create and receive email notifications should be checked. Second place to check is at the top right of your thread is an option to Watch Thread and receive email notifications should be checked. I hope that this provides the emails you are anticipating.

Azure Portal - Cognitive Services monitoring issues

I've got a library full of documents. I would like to be able to know some more about these documents without reading through all of them. On the first page of each document I already put some relevant information about the document such as year of creation, author, number of pages and confidentiality.

I want to use some AI to browse through these documents and decide which is what and return it to me so I can store it in a CSV or something. This way I'll be able to easily find the right document.

Now, I did use LUIS and some of the TAA service of Azure's cognitive services before. But I cannot figure out a way how to accomplish this. Is it theoretically possible to send the first page (using a powershell script to cut the rest of the document

Automatic delete camera folder once a day?

Thanks man. Yes, Tasker and Macrodroid can do this, but they are to complicated and unreliable when they should run for months alone.
But I found a solution. "Delete Old Files" app, can be found in ApkPure. You only input folder path to delete and number of days to keep the files. This wont work in the last android versions because of the constant increasing Google restrictions, but on a android 6.0 it's good.
