Before it updated, were you signed into an Oppo account with your phone? Because they moved Oppo ColorOS cloud accounts over to Heytap, which is a third-party cloud services provider that Oppo(BBK) now uses.

OPPO Cloud is now migrated to HeyTap Cloud Service to provide users a secure and reliable cloud storage space. Everything you store—photos, videos, music, contacts, messages, notes, browser bookmarks, calendars, and other personal information—can be conveniently accessed and managed in HeyTap Cloud."
I believe it's similar for Realme, Vivo, and OnePlus phones as well, as they're all from the same manufacturer. BBK.
