Control STB via TV Remote -- Quickset API?

I own a Sony XBR-75X800H Smart TV (Android 9). I was able to connect my Cisco 9865HD STB to the television via HDMI. Everything works but Power ON/OFF is silly -- one must bring up a separate UI to power off the STB rather than the STB being in sync with the Television's on/off state.

I figure I'd investigate the Quickset API to install an app to monitor the power on / off key event (keycode 26) to then trigger the necessary Quickset api call to power on/off the STB.

Anyone familiar with UEI's Quickset API for controlling Set Top Boxes? Specifically for Android and Smart TVs.

PLEASE HELP! What are the two overlapping white hearts notification for android?

Hope this clears that up for you. I am in a similar predicamint as BF clearly communicated to me his intentions, has taken me to his parents 3x so far, yet he actively has the hearts and PoF fishy on his dropdown notification menu or has matches on FBk dating.

I am giving it a week before expressing my concern so I can calm the fuk down and think objectively before discussing it with him.

Good luck, my friend.
Hi @Jackie Buffett and welcome to AF. I'm sorry it turned out bad for you with what the notification is.

I do want to thank you for confirming what it is as we get many, many inquiries about heart notifications and what apps are tied to them. While we are mainly a tech support site with members helping members, we do care about calming folks fears about unneeded stress. In this case, by your confirmation, we can at least let folks know in many cases that the particular heart icon they are seeing, that it is or isn't POF.

Whatsapp SMS deadline keeps being extended

Local backup would be on the phone. But it would help to know what you mean by "force" a restore, since what exactly you are doing and what state the app and its data are in might be relevant. I've never seen anything about it promising to work after some number of hours.

I had a WhatsApp restore hang up over the weekend: changing phones, tried restoring from the cloud backup and that hang half way through copying the media. But as I had the old phone I solved that by just copying the media from the old phone via USB.

I've never used WhatsApp for SMS though, I prefer to use a separate SMS app and just use WhatsApp for WhatsApp chats, so don't know whether there are any special issues with that. There shouldn't be though, since SMS must use the standard system SMS database (distinct from WhatsApp's encrypted chats).

Reviews Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL Common Problems

Hi, good day to you All, May i know if anyone who knows how to get the Google pixel phone password? Because im trying to get it done but after hard reset it still asking me for the password again? Is there any way for me to do it? Please help me out with the moblie phone thank you so much..

If you factory reset the phone from recovery then you'll need to enter the password of the Google account which was last used on the device before the reset. If you don't remember your Google account password you can learn about the account recovery process here:
https://gmailaccountrecovery.blogspot.com/2012/01/gmail-account-recovery-and-security.html

Unfortunately (for you) there is no way to bypass this requirement. The only way to proceed is to successfully authenticate that previous Google account.

This is a security measure to deter thieves from stealing a person's phone, factory resetting it, and then selling or using the phone as their own.

Change by Android 12

I can't say I ever noticed it in my recently retired Pixel 2 (A11). But it might be something I turned off long ago and forgot existed - I'll check when I'm next near that phone.

But if it disappeared during the A12 update there's probably not much to do. Search the settings in case it just got moved, I guess.

Google do sometimes do stupid things, e.g. they removed the ability to keep the screen awake by touching the fingerprint sensor in A10, presumably because the Pixel 4 didn't have one, and thereby degraded the functionality of every other model.

Beware of this...

the good thing for those living in the US:
"Are you at risk?
The BRATA Android scam first began making the rounds in Brazil in 2019. Cleafy says that the new mule accounts spreading the trojan are mostly coming from Italy, as well as Lithuania and the Netherlands. So, if you live in the US, this specific campaign probably won’t target you. That said, it’s one more scary threat that you should be aware of if you own an Android device."

edit:i am sure that at some point this scam will hit US soil, unfortunately.

Calls log manager

Using two mobile numbers will solve your problem. If you use one for financial products and another for real estate, you will always know the interest of the person calling you. Also, multiple apps can help you detect who is calling you, so maybe you will remind why you call this person. For example, I am using Family Orbit. I use it for checking the calling history of my child. I am aware of him, and I want to know who are the people are calling him and who is he calling. In case something happens, it will help me a lot to find my kid.

can't get APK to work

This is like trying to use the internet with a Windows 95 PC. The sites and programs don't support it any more and it doesn't work.
A device this old may be useful for some non-connected apps like a music player, note-taking etc. but for anything that requires online connectivity, up to date security standards and so on you'll need a newer phone with a more current version of Android and enough memory and processing power to run those apps. Really no way around it

urgent help required

My mind is a sieve since yesterday. :rolleyes:o_O

Privacy protection password gets you in to someone's set up device and their account?
Yeah, it's just what Google call the lockscreen password.
Google"s account password + login enables avoiding FRP when resetting another's device
If I were being pedantic (which is an occupational hazard in my line of work) I'd say that the Google login unlocks the phone after FRP is activated. The way to avoid FRP is to remove the account before resetting, but you need to unlock the screen to do that.
Why someone's reset and account removed device on the other thread still had a lock screen password I couldn't figure.
Yeah, that does not make a lot of sense to me...
