Help android-x86_64-8.1-r6/VirtualBox 6.1.26/Ubuntu 20.04LTS Linux PC : several problems to use Android

Hello !
I installed android-x86_64-8.1-r6 on VirtualBox (on an Ubuntu 20.04LTS Linux PC) and I'm looking to install an APK on it.

I have several problems:
  • the keyboard is perceived by android-x86_64-8.1-r6 as a qwerty (I have a bépo) and I don't know how to change that the interface which currently is in command line (see attached image),
  • I would appreciate having a graphical interface: does it exist?
  • If so, how to get it?

The keyboard is configurable within the running Android OS itself via the Settings option, and it is graphical.
  • I don't know how to install my APK and once this APK installed it will need to access the sound and the Internet network from the PC, how could it happen?

Does the virtual Android OS have internet access? If so you could email yourself the APKs, or uploaded them in the cloud, like Google Drive, and download them within Android. The other way is to use the share options within Virtualbox and share a folder to the Android OS. The sound settings are configured via Virtualbox.

Rooting for Data Recovery?

Hello forums,

This is my first post, I have created this account for a specific purpose, I hope you can help me :)
I have realized that there are some photos and videos that are very important to me that were deleted from my phone and have been deleted from my google photos around July 2020. I wanted to try these data recovery tools but they require root- which would wipe my phone, correct?

I would do anything to retrieve these files... I did not know they were important but now I realized they were extremely important to me. It is my fault, but I would try any solutions you have to offer. How do I root without losing my data?

Thank you... :)

That was well over a year ago, and if you've been using the phone since then, it's extremely likely the deleted data would have been overwritten, and thus impossible to recover.

Help WHATSAP deleted and botched restore

I expect that the audio stuff should be in the WhatsApp media folder, probably in the either the WhatsApp Audio or the WhatsApp Voice Notes subfolder.

I don't know the app, and am of course suspicious of recommends from their own website (you also get people who pop up in forums to recommend some app, whose entire posting activity seems to be recommending such an app, which I'm also very suspicious of). But it sounds like anything might be worth a shot.

trying to pair PC with J3 via Bluetooth

Again,Thanks to all. OK on that link you gave me for Android, puppykickr. The main NitroShare website did not show that, maybe I did not look good . . .
But . . . guess what ! After dealing with the company who files I was trying to transfer from my PC to phone via Bluetooth . . . they tell me . . . oh you can simply go to the Google Play Store on your phone and simply downlard our software into your Android ( phone ) device directly . . . heck I said ???
Here their telling me to do it via Bluetooth or USB cable . . . when I could have AND DID do it directly from the Internet to my phone . . . it worked. I was in the WI-FI mode on my phone and it downloaded the software perfectly and the thing works. No Bluetooth or USB cables involved.
I'll still mess with the Bluetooth, just to see if I can get it to stay connected, someday I'll do that !!!
Again thanks to you all and Take care,
Al

Android 8.10: How to Transfer Files?

Thanks for everyone that helped. I just wanted to close out this thread. Both my Android tablets actually had a MicroSD port already: the port was concealed under a plastic tab on the back of the device that I had to pop off. By far the easiest option for me was to simply mount a MicroSD card on my Linux box, copy the files to the MicroSD card, then put the MicroSD card into slot on the Android tablet. Much easier than installing the libmtp software and learning how to use it. Thanks to all.

Help mobile services manager/advertising apps

Thanks for these posts. This just happened to me. Got a push notification for an app called Chime -- never heard of it, never installed it. The notification said Mobile Services at the top. Did a long press, which opened a Custom Notifications settings mini page, with a gear wheel on top; that took me to detailed notification settings for Mobile Services; one of the types was App Recommendations; I turned that off. Hope that does the trick.

Which rooting method is safe for unrooting easily safely

There is no such thing as a safe and easy way to just toggle your Android device from being rooted to unrooted. When you root an Android device, that involves an actual alteration to the installed Android operating system itself. Reversing that isn't going to be 'safe' so always have a fall-back solution in place. Back up your data in case you need to do a user account restore and make sure there's an appropriate stock or custom ROM readily available in case you soft-brick your phone trying to flip it between root >>><< non-root status.
You're apparently comparing Android with a Windows PC, where you can make a user account change from administrative to restricted without too much hassle. A desktop OS is typically going to include a lot of support to handle multiple user accounts concurrently, and at different levels of restrictions. But the Android platform is a different environment with the focus being a single user account. Any multiple user account functionality is going to be a modular and essentially 'bolted into place'.

Utilities like Magisk can mask root -- non-root status but it's not actually changing the phone from root to non-root. The SuperSU utility on the other hand is root-required, and while it does include a 'Full unroot' option that works don't be surprised when it doesn't and you have to re-flash the ROM anyway to start over again.
It's one thing to go from rooted to non-rooted and end up with phone that still boots up and runs, and a phone that does that and is fully functional and stable again. Also keep in mind that your list of rooting methods will work with some models but not all so you might find only one, or only a couple, or none of them will root your Lyf Water 7.

WhatsApp crash - Missing Media Files

My WhatsApp on Android crashed without warning 2 days ago on 23 September.

4fbwy6p0vpp71.jpg

When I restored WhatsApp from the Google Drive backup (I have always been regularly backing up my messages), none of the chat messages reappeared.

I deleted WhatsApp and reinstalled it. I chose the reinstallation of backup on Google Drive, but it was stuck at 24%. When I ignored it, WhatsApp eventually reinstalled a clean version of all my chat histories (i.e. all conversations were present but empty).

I then deleted WhatsApp again and reinstall it. This time, when it was stuck at 24%, I forced stopped the app, and restarted it.

This appeared to work, and I was able to view all my conversations with the messages.

(BTW, over the past years whenever my WhatsApp crashes inexplicably, I will always encounter the botched restoration, which I will resolve by force stopping WhatsApp when it was stuck and all the media files and messages will be restored, with 1-2 days' loss of messages.)

But now, I realised that ALL the media files (including photos, files, voice recording and videos) that I have accumulated over the years were not restored.

While the photos still show up in their thumbnails in the specific gallery folder, they are essentially now empty 0 B files. When I clicked on them, the systems says that the file is either missing or corrupt.

I accessed my file manager and saw a couple of msgstores files, with the earliest of which being on 23 Sept.

I deleted WhatsApp again to restore the local backup but that option was not available. In the end I had to restore the WhatsApp from the latest backup on Google Drive (while facing the same difficulty of it being stuck described above).

The media files are still missing. Now even the earlier msgstores files on my phone of 23 Sept are also missing. Only 1 msgstore file of 26 September is around.

Please help! I don’t have access to all the WhatsApp media files which are very very dear to me! I have been backing up my WhatsApp files regularly and the missing media files very regularly. There must be some backup residing in my phone somewhere.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated!

Are you in a hot environment?
Is the phone connected to a charger?
What sort of games are these?
Do you have other processes running actively? (Maybe check your battery consumption stats).
What do you mean by "hot"?
Has this changed recently, or has it always been like this?

Running a camera and playing some games (especially those with advanced graphics, those using the camera and a network connection) are some of the activities which generate the most heat. If you are already in a hot environment, or if this is in addition to other sources of heat (e.g. charging) then the phone can get hot quickly. But it's very hard to say whether what you observe is abnormal or not, because "becomes hot" means different things to different people. Could you check the battery temperature (many system info or battery monitor apps can do that)?

And if it is abnormal, unfortunately it may not be easy to identify the cause, which is why I asked that list of questions above.

PreRunning preloading custom ROM virtual machine mobile

@mikedt bro thanks for sharing your precious time knowledge opinion advice suggestions and to grateful to you

@mikedt bro whenever I try to download from xda custom rom page in many case it takes to google drive app or chrome and ask for permission request for downloading and no email or request recieved after waiting for many days ...how can I download the custom rom from xda and which custom roms are good and how to know how much internal memory space these custom rom occupies as the mobile have 16gb rom .

Yeh they're hosted on OneDrive with restricted access. If the dev isn't responding to access requests. They were posted 4 years ago, and maybe the original dev is no longer around? Given that, I think the only thing you can do is to join XDA, make a post in that thread, and hopefully someone else has those ROMs.

16GB is going to be very restrictive even with just one ROM. The one phone I had with only 16GB, was my original Samsung Galaxy S, I had ten years ago.

Can we test these roms in MULTIROM app

No idea, I didn't even know that existed until I read this thread.
Somebody else may know

Of course I can't tell you if any of those Lyf Water 7 ROMs are any good, or safe, or not, apart from reading what's already posted in XDA.

Have I completely broken it?

Yes. I used the instructions on this video
The 1st time I had already unzipped the Dotos file so i had transferred the wrong file, then managed to somehow completely wipe the whole thing.

After I restored it back to V4.4 I went a watched the video again, wrote all the instructions down and managed to upgrade it to 7.1.2. Working fine now.
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx for posting your solution.

How do I configure an Android go tablet?

Android Go is a stripped down, but very efficient OS.

It allows the user to do more with considerably less.

First, let it be known that the utility apps that come with most any device are only there to be used until the user finds something better.

Every utility app is pretty much junk, unfortunately, and even worse- the ones with internet access can even be security hazards.

Things like a calculator that have internet capability, or that want access to your contacts, for instance.

Personally, I like cheap devices.
But I do more with my junk than most people do with $1000 devices.

You could start trouble shooting by changing your launcher.
There are tons around, with all sorts of different features.

A favorite around here is Nova.
Personally, I use KISS.

Next, I would check out the apps that Simple Mobile Tools has to offer for utility apps.
They are what I use on all of my devices.

Do not fall for junk apps like anti-virus or any security style apps- they will only bog the device down and they really won't do anything else.

Ditto for the cleaners, boosters, and other junk like that.

There is one cleaner app that does what it says and tells the truth about it- LTE Cleaner.
It also has a place on each of my devices.

A must have is a good, fast browser.
Lightning is excellent.

As far as a weather widget, I really cannot help with that because I don't use weather apps.
They basically are a security nightmare.

Instead, I use a website called emergencyemail.org, and after I get onto the weather page for my area I bookmark that into my browser.

In fact, I now have a browser where I made that the homepage- so that browser is now a defacto weather app.
No widget, but I can put the icon on the home display, tap it, and have weather info in seconds.

Notice how I am not including any Google apps?
There are reasons for that.
I actually have deGoogled my latest device.
Let me know if anything like that is appealing.

Be sure to not put any apps onto the SD card.
This can bring a myriad of problems.
Only put apps in the internal memory.

So here are a few links for you to look at, for the apps that I mentioned.
Tell us if any helped, what you liked, what you didn't, and why.

I tried rooting and it kept failing

When you refer to trying to flash the firmware obtained from multiple sources, that is something of a vague reference. The issue being if you're stuck in this bootloop only into Recovery Mode or Download Mode after flashing the stock ROM, that's an indicator it was the wrong ROM. When a different ROM than what's required was used, that creates a situation where your phone has no working Android operating system to boot into so all it can do is boot up into Recovery or Download mode. That's at least an indicator that your phone isn't hard bricked and at that point for the most part dead. Flash it again using an appropriate, matching ROM should restore your phone to working condition once more.
Keep in mind that there are multiple variations of your S7 Edge, with differences in each variation involving a mix of hardware (internal components) and/or software (ROMs, also referred to as firmware). So the ROM for a SM-935F phone may or may not have any or little compatibility with a SM-935A phone, there's a lot of variables to account for. So just to confirm, I'd suggest you re-download the appropriate ROM that exactly matches your particular S7 Edge. It's vital to select the ROM that matches the model, country, and carrier, ROMs are not interchangeable.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Even if you did previously select the correct ROM, perhaps the problem is due to the file itself was corrupted during the download process. But whatever the case, try re-flashing again. And do save the Odin utility log file that's displayed, there's a lot of relevant info in it.
Even if this isn't a ROM issue though, there are lots of other factors to take into consideration. Which version of the Odin utility are you using?
https://odindownload.com/
Have you tried connecting your phone to your PC using a different USB cable? If you're plugging it into a USB hub or similar pass-through device, try plugging directly into a USB port on your PC.

As a side note, since you were attempting to root your phone due to some lost photos, just be wary and very selective about which file recovery utility you opt to use if you do try to root your phone again. Most are just smoke-and-mirrors effective about actually being able to restore deleted files, basing their claims of success on how easy it was to actually do this with unencrypted storage media. Since Marshmallow, all Android devices have encrypted internal media so when remotely using third-party utilities running on a non-native OS it's not the same environment.

Thanks for the response I'll try again someday I guess right now I don't have space on my laptop to get odin or the firmware as I have a lot of college work on it but maybe later.

Anyone use this?

It's too minimalist for me. I like a watch face with a lot of gears. With my new galaxy watch 4, it uses gear os which I have not used in awhile. I'm still playing around trying to find a watch face I like.

I settled on A/D Watchface for now as it works most like I'm used to. Eyeballing the Galaxy 4 Classic since it runs Android now, but not quite ready to jump on it as I do use Assistant on my watch.

SmartCoin Financials - Personal loans for urgent cash needs in India

If you are facing financial difficulties and are in urgent need of money, you may consider getting a payday loan. Historically, when payday lenders used to calculate a borrower's creditworthiness, they did not go far beyond checking the applicant's income status and whether they had an active checking account. This is what made payday loans so popular.
However, today most companies have developed sophisticated underwriting algorithms, which usually include checking the borrower's credit history, in particular for short-term loans. So, if you missed your payday loan obligations in the recent past, or you have an outstanding car title or installment loan, it may prevent you from getting a new payday loan. I found this information here PaydaySeek no teletrack payday loans , no teletrack cash advance
