Help Downgrading from 4.4.2 to 4.1.1 safely?

Actually, I have been trying to do this with a SGH-i747M 4.4.2 (Galaxy s3) and have not been successful but also have not bricked my device. I can always go back to a stock ROM and everything is fine. I want to go back to 4.1.1 because apparently with this OS version you can network unlock the phone. When I try loading a 4.1.1 ROM with Odin it fails with an "Auth" error and then I have to reflash stock ROM.. I'm thinking I need to change permissions somewhere but have no idea where. I have tried adb sideload but it comes back with "adb: pre-KitKat sideload connection failed: closed". This is likely because I'm running 4.4.2.

Can I use Android WebView object for Google Authentication?

I'm using Android Studio to update a login page that authenticates via Google. In the onCreate method, I have a function, called loadWebViewPage(), that loads up our authentication page that uses Google for auth. When loadWebViewPage() is called I have the following:

private void loadWebViewPage()
{

CookieManager cookieManager = CookieManager.getInstance();
cookieManager.setAcceptCookie(true);
String userAgent = "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.1.1; Galaxy Nexus Build/JRO03C) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/41.0.2228.0 Mobile Safari/535.19";
//Set WebView
WebView webView =(WebView)findViewById(R.id.webView);
webView.setWebViewClient(new WebViewClient());
webView.getSettings().setUserAgentString(userAgent);
//Set WebSettings
WebSettings webSettings = webView.getSettings();
webSettings.setJavaScriptEnabled(true);
webSettings.setAppCacheEnabled(true);
webSettings.setJavaScriptCanOpenWindowsAutomatically(true);
webSettings.setSupportMultipleWindows(true);

if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.LOLLIPOP)
{
webView.getSettings().setMixedContentMode(WebSettings.MIXED_CONTENT_ALWAYS_ALLOW);
}

webView.loadUrl("the url that redirects to sso page");

Toolbar toolbar = (Toolbar) findViewById(R.id.toolbar);
setSupportActionBar(toolbar);

LocalBroadcastManager.getInstance(getApplicationContext())
.registerReceiver(loginBroadcastReceiver,
new IntentFilter(LoginHelper.LOGIN_MESSAGE));

}

The onCreate method works fine; I get the page to load, users can enter their email and password. However when the users clicks the login button it does not want to load in Google authentication where they should be able to select which Google account they want to log in with.

This line webView.loadUrl("the url that redirects to sso page") loads up a vendor hosted page that handles the sso authentication. If user enters an invalid email or incorrect email/password combination it does not allow them to proceed forward and presents a "login error' message.
If user enters a valid Google email that is in the system linked by a userID, then it is supposed to present them with the Google option to either enter their password or select the appropriate Google account if they are logged into multiple Google accounts.

I tried looking for a solution and what I've seen is the User Agent or Google doesn't support Webviews anymore to I need to setup a browser that handles auth then go back into app on successful login.

I'm thinking the easiest solution would be to update the the User Agent variable. However, am I missing something or should be approaching this differently? I don't want to load an actual browser as we don't want users messing with the url address or having to worrying about the navigation buttons.

Thanks

POCO X3 NFC. User experiences?

Check the network bands as @mikedt said.
That being good (I haven't checked) or if you were in the UK, from that manufacturer I would steer you also to the newer Redmi Note 10 Pro (same soc sd732) better AMOLED screen and similar sd card support and headphone jack.

Though for speed and value, and to name confuse you more (Xiaomi do that), the Poco F3 has great spec and screen (SD 870, 5G), and has been reduced here in both 128gb and 256gb variants.

Also the Poco X3 Pro has the SD860 on 4G.

I've had two models for close to a year and very pleased with them. Definitely as good as Samsung imv.

You can remove any adverts through various settings (You Tube has advice), and extra bloat ware apps like LinkedIn, Facebook etc are uninstallable.
If I don't sign in to copycat Mi apps (Samsung do similar) like browser, notes and cloud apps they don't interfere, and apparently are uninstallable with the latest MIUI 12.5 UI, though I wasn't able to here)

None of this is what you were asking, I understand, but oddly the android forums I've looked at such as Android Central have little input from Xiaomi owners, and you'll know they are not currently marketed in the US.

**Also a small downside they do update security patches but can be 2 to 3 months late. They also send out big UI updates to quite old models but again this can take time. The latest models due , 11T and 11T Pro offer 4 years monthly security and 3 years OS updates, or the other way around, and there is mention this will be offered to current models also.

Unknown file found in download folder

Yes, and yes.

Frankly, I get NOTHING from Google.
Google is the single largest purveyor of malware, adware, and useless apps.

I get apps from F-Droid, UpToDown, and ApkPure.

Sometimes I will use ApkMirror.

I have no use for Google and their spyware.

I also avoid the playstore as well, in addition to f-droid and uptodown, i also use aptoide. Between those three, there's really nothing else I need.

Text messaging problem

Anyway, when this happens to you do you notice if that little cellular connection icon in the top menubar is showing you have a strong and weak signal?. Does this problem happen when you're in a particular room in your home or is this happening in random, different locations?
You might want to try installing this OpenSignal app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.staircase3.opensignal&hl=en_US&gl=US
That might help determine if want to kind of cellular coverage your phone is receiving based on where you're located.
Take a look at the APN setting in your phone and compare it to the one in the S21. to see if they match exactly or if there is some difference. If there is a discrepancy that might be due to just how each phone auto-configured its APN setting when a SIM card was inserted the first time. You might want to try creating a new APN entry matching those in the Galaxy S21, or use the APN settings from T-Mobile's site:
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/not-sold-by-t-mobile/byod-t-mobile-data-and-apn-settings
(...be sure to type in everything as is, it's important not to add in your own space characters or capitalize words. And restart your phone when you change the APN so it gets loaded into memory during startup.)
I will check into your suggestions. Thanks.

Can You Break A Phone From Just Putting Weight On It?

Tolerances inside a smartphone often involve fractions of a millimeter (micrometers) so just eyeballing if your phone is bent out of shape isn't likely. If you see the front glass is developing hairline cracks or the outer casing has little stress faults than you know there's probably a problem. Otherwise, don't worry about it. The push to make phones more durable over the years have resulted in phones that are much more durable (add an exterior casing can be an additional benefit). Just don't forget that phones are tougher to damage now, but they're not designed to be intentionally abused.

If the back pocket of your pants really is the only viable place to keep your phone and you do opt to just keep sitting on it, there will be a cumulative effect where eventually there will be an resulting effect. Could be minor and your phone's functionality isn't affected in any way, but do note that the battery inside is something to be wary of. A smartphone battery is definitely not a flexible item. Bend it or puncture it and even though it's relatively small there can be nasty resulting consequences. There's actually a good amount of energy inside, where power is used or stored in an interactive exchange of various chemicals (lithium being a primary one). If your A52s battery does get physically damaged, in a worst case scenario there could be enough heat from short that there's fire. But the odds are more likely to be a messy, thick goo oozing out so given your phone is pretty much sealed inside the capillary effects will draw that gunk into all kinds of places. Basically just treat your phone with some respect, it'll last longer and run better.

Android 11 feature to be enabled in older phones

Errr No, I've never had that kind of message on any of my devices(Samsung/HTC/Moto/Huawei/Various Chinese phones - Cubot/Doogee and others)
The full page pop-up ads will be as a result of something you installed (or was installed BY something you installed). BTW I tend to use F-Droid in preference to the play store as all their apps are FOSS..

No, not pop-ups from any apps-
these are full page browser hijackers that are difficult to even back out of without a good browser.

And by good, I mean anything not associated with Google.

And by you getting apps from F-Droid instead (as I do as well) you demonstrate that privacy is security.

Security in your private matters is privacy by definition.

Therefore, privacy is a part of security.

Help After Hard Reset LG-D520 stucks

Can the battery come out?
If so, take it out, and then hold the power button and volume down button together for a slow count of 60 (approximately 60 seconds).

This makes sure that all of the capacitors are drained of energy.

Then reinsert the battery, plug it into a charger, and hold the power button until it begins to start up.

Hope this helps.

If not, most likely a device of that age is toast.

Need some help with File.listFiles() not returning files with text file extensions.

Hi, I have had similar issue (couldn't read json files from external storage). It turns out the reason is that in Android 11 they changed entirely the way how application can access media files.

In order to use the same File API to get ALL files in Android 11, you need to do following:

1. Add <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> to manifest
2. Check if you have all files access by using: Environment.isExternalStorageManager()
3. If you don't, you can request the permission this way:
Uri uri = Uri.parse("package:" + BuildConfig.APPLICATION_ID);
Intent intent = new Intent(Settings.ACTION_MANAGE_APP_ALL_FILES_ACCESS_PERMISSION, uri);
context.startActivity(intent);

This will redirect you to the Settings when use can gran your application All files access. When granted, you can use all the same method to access ALL files on Android 11.
