Messages app problems

Profile updates are well just updating your particular user account profile to your phone. PRL updates are tied to Sprint's previous CDMA network, something T-Mobile won't bother supporting as its just a legacy cellular service at this point.
When you receive the new SIM card that will probably require at least some manual maintenance task on your part, it's switching your S10 Plus over to an upgraded cellular network. But should also include step-by-step instructions so just follow them.

I think CDMA is definitely becoming yet another piece of telecoms history.

Help I WILL PAY - SIM CHANGER

The association between SIM card and phone number is in your carrier's systems, not your phone, so you cannot change that.

So what is the app actually checking: your phone number or your IMSI (SIM number)? Have you changed the SIM or phone number since you last used the app? If so, did the app developer seriously not make provision for that happening (because people do change these things)? And, as asked above, which app is this?

google playstore has stopped

ok now it has been a week after i did a complete factory reset and i still get play store has stopped and now a bunch of other apps that give me that error message that they have stopped. so is this just qutar7 tablet doing this or is there some gross issue with 5.1 ? the tablet is real slow now that i have reset it and let it install all the junk they put on them just to make sure i did not have some app turned off or deleted and that was the root issue.

so does anyone have a fix for this or do i have to just put up with it until i find another table. because i use this for a monitor for my security system i have to have it on all the time. i can just tap the ok and the error goes off the screen but then what it going to do in the background?

i have updated that android system webview now maybe 10 times and it seems to not make any difference. in fact it give me the option to uninstall that update.

thanks

Creating typeconvertor to convert Int timestamp to LocalDate

What would be the best way to go about this. I am using 2 different APIs and one returns a date as a String and the other returns date as an Int timestamp in the format of e.g. 162000360

I was using the ThreeTen backport for Date/Time classes. I have successfully created a type convertor for the date I get back as a String - provided below

@TypeConverter
@JvmStatic
fun stringToDate(str: String?) = str?.let {
LocalDate.parse(it, DateTimeFormatter.ISO_LOCAL_DATE)
}

@TypeConverter
@JvmStatic
fun dateToString(dateTime: LocalDate?) = dateTime?.format(DateTimeFormatter.ISO_LOCAL_DATE)

I'm struggling to replicate the same for the Int timestamp as the DateTimeFormatter requires a String passed into it and won't allow an Int. Any help is much appreciated

ADB not working - what am I doing wrong?

I believe it worked out well.

FWIW - updated 'steps'

Removing bloatware from Samsung Galaxy S10
Android v11, UI 3.1

1. download https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
2. Extract
3. (I did it, but it is optionally) copy sub folder "platform-tools" to C:\ADB
4. On smartphone, change to developer mode:
a.Settings > About Phone > Software Information >tap 'Build number' 7x
b.Settings > Developer Options (at the bottom) > USB Debugging: enable
c.Click OK
d.In the next screen (optionally select "Always allow from this computer") plus "Allow"

5. Connect the smartphone using USB

Change USB mode to "File Transfer mode":

6. Smartphone: Settings > Developer options (at the bottom)
7. Tap on: "Default USB Configuration", select: "Transferring Files"

8. Windows (command prompt) go to C:\ADB (or to 'platform-tools')
9. Enter: adb devices -l

it should show that device is connected, like:

C:\adb>adb devices -l
List of devices attached
RF8MC0QDR2P device product:beyond1lteeea model:SM_G973F device:beyond1 transport_id:1

10. Collect a list of all installed software
Enter: c:\adb>adb shell pm list packages

11. selectively remove software (in this example "LED cover software")
package:com.samsung.android.app.ledbackcover
package:com.sec.android.cover.ledcover
(remove the word 'package:' in the uninstall command)

C:\adb>adb shell
beyond1:/ $ pm uninstall --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.ledbackcover
Success
beyond1:/ $ pm uninstall --user 0 com.sec.android.cover.ledcover
Success
beyond1:/ $ exit

c:\adb

Predictive text missing

Old problem for those in this thread. New problem for me. I have an S7. A couple months ago predictive text disappeared. No fix yet. I'll try this 4 hours in safe mode jive tonight. I saw another thread where someone said the fix was to hold the down-volume button and the power button for 15 secs. of course, not a fix.

Question using Astro File Manager to copy music files to my Android

Thanks for your responses. It turned out that there were 7 folders that could not be copied. I decided to try another File Manager as was suggested. I tried File Manager Plus and got the same error message for all 7 folders. However, File Manager Plus told me that the error had to do with characters, as was stated above. It turned out that one song in each folder had a ? in it. Once I removed them, they copied fine. IMO, File Manager Plus is a much better app than Astro File Manager. But Astro did most of the job.

Help Misbehaving

Hello, just to share my own experience as I had experienced exactly the same issue, first time I got it to boot I did not realize it was due to the phone being connected to the computer, using it as power source. Now I had the issue again (after restarting the phone) and only got it started again right after I read this post of yours, so thank you for connecting the bits together there.

The answer from svim is probably the best solution - get a new phone sounds a great option and one I will look into in near future, since it today it's second time i had to perform this factory reset and as much as cloud keeps most of the data, it is simply annoying.

If Battery Share app causes you troubles however, you can switch it off and it will stay off, in settings > applications > app info - you can find Battery Share, and find two buttons, Deactivate and Force app off, press both from left to right, then just to be safe you can set the app to not be able to pop up over your other apps if it somehow turned on again. This could save the bother.

But it seems the phone is just going haywire in more cases than this one, so I suppose the power issue of battery life coming to end is a good assumption. As it does not last as long as it used to be and the charging times vary pretty randomly. I think my battery is near over and so will be yours ( if you still have the phone, as since it is oct 2020 I assume you have rather moved on.)

Trying to figure out notification

Which version of Android is your kid's phone running?
There might be a Notification Log option in the Settings menu that might reveal more relevant information on that mystery notification. But it depends on the phone and what version of Android.
With 11, it might just be a matter of enabling it:
https://www.howtogeek.com/689683/how-to-see-your-notification-history-in-android/
Or when it involves older Android versions, you can try making your own Notification Log using Widgets:
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-view-dismissed-notifications-on-android/
There's a preset buffer in the Notifications log so it only goes back a day or so, or less if your kids are getting a lot of Notifications.
