Force Wipe

The device is a Securus JP6s. I’ve recently left being incarcerated and am trying to unlock my tablet without having to send it into the manufacture and paying for it.
ok then you are screwed.....those things are locked down extremely tight.

so this is really not ransomware. this is a tablet with and android software that has things built in to be locked down tight. if you can unlock the bootloader then we can get some place.......but like i said these things are locked up pretty tight and i 100% sure that your bootloader is locked down.

sorry, but your better off getting a new device.

Help A Very Odd Wifi Problem

Busy or dead. Doesn't matter.
I considered that too, doesn't seem to be the case.
I just noticed yesterday that the opening of an app doesn't matter, it will disconnect app or no. I just didn't notice the d/c until I opened an app.
You know I'm not sure. Possibly. I hadn't considered that. I'll have to think about that one. I don't make note every time my phone updates, ya know?
Wifi seems solid. 5/5 bars. Plus they have a Wifi booster.

Are there other sources of Wi-Fi nearby?

Sometimes a device will continuously scan for available Wi-Fi, and can jump from one to another without warning.

This can be a real problem when surrounded by multiple weaker signals, ie. 200 feet from a strip mall where each business has its own open Wi-Fi.

See if there is a Wi-Fi setting that allows you to turn off continuos scanning.

Jury Duty

I had jury duty maybe five years ago. First day I go to the court house to report in:D there had to have been 300 people there o_O:oops:.
After waiting for two or three hours I was told to go to different jury selection area. An hour later back to the first area.
An hour later we were given an hour for lunch.
After lunch waited another hour
After an hour, okay if we haven't called you, your free to go home.
Me:thumbsupdroid::D:cool:
Court person, report back here tomorrow by 8 am.
Me:mad::maddroid:

Day two.
All morning shifting around, then lunch. Then when the selection process got started. 50-100 us got sent to different court rooms.
Then people were eliminated , sent back to the jury pool area or elsewhere. End of day 2 comes,
Instructed to return tomorrow.:(

Day #3 9am am comes I am among 25-30 potential jurists,
By 10am I have been selected as finalists:mad:o_O:maddroid::thumbsdowndroid:
by 11:45am I have been selected.:maddroid:
Day#3 ended with legal mumbo jumbo as the case was explain.
Day#4 the defense makes their opening statement. It's a civic case involving gas stations and convenient stores. Defense comes out with both guns blazing , sprouting off all the reason plaintiff is at fault, how the plaintiff attempted to double cross, back out, rob their clients of potentially of millions of dollars.:maddroid:
Then came the ultimate WTF moment.
The lead defense lawyer starts in on how they are missing documents, but can still prove that a contract was entered into by both parties.
When question by the judge about the alleged missing paper work, the lawyer informed her that half of the documents had been transferred from the original clerks/city hall building to a temporary building because the original city hall clerks office, court house etc was being temporarily shut down for security or maintenance upgrades.
Judge ask the lawyer so you can get the documents from the temporarily site??
Lawyer then explained that the temporary building had caught on fire and all the documents from the original court house that had been transferred over had been lost
When asked about computer back ups the lawyer said they hadn't been back up.
To complicate things other paperwork had gone missing, then the lawyer in double talk kind of threw his client under the bus by telling us they hadn't filed certain paper work with courts, got stuff notorized.
But then adds he can absolutely prove his client is in the right :thumbsupdroid:
When the judge ask if he could produced any paperwork or evidence supporting his client?
The lawyer response was they were currently tracking down the missing documents.
Judge, then ask if the defense had an rough idea of where the missing documents were and how soon they could get them.
The lawyer response was we have no idea, they had people searching for them.
Once again the lawyer assure us that those documents were absolutely not necessary to prove their case
After that statement, the members of the jury and the plaintiff and their lawyers were all:goofydroid:
The judge was :maddroid::mad:.
By this time we had listening to the defense lawyer ramble on for almost three hours.
The judge demised us for an early lunch.
To be continued ( if you're really interested:rolleyes::oops:;))
I'll bet that lawyer came to school every day claiming that their dog had eaten their homework once more but honestly they can still prove that their report deserved an A... ;)

Creating a Directory After Android 11

I've been searching the internet for almost 7hrs now, I can't seem to find a code that works and it took me a while to find out that the method below no longer works and is deprecated

Code:
File file = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),sName);
file.mkdirs();

Also tried adding android:requestLegacyExternalStorage="true" in the manifest but still the same result.

So my question is: Is it possible to create a directory directly in internal storage automatically when the app starts for the first time, similar to what WhatsApp does?

Like if someone downloads and opens the app for the first time there'd be a new directory created (after gaining the permission to do so) in Internal Storage directly (not in Android/data sub-folders) for the app files in the future

And if it's possible, how can I do such a thing?

I'd be very grateful for as little as any pointer in that direction, I've been on this issue for much more time than I expected

Thank you in advance

Help Help With phone stuck in fastboot

You, running 18.1 and it is the android 11 implementation. Previously I was still in android 9 as I rooted this device literally the day I got it, and while Motorola is fine with unlocking their phones for you, they disable your updates when they do.

I'm liking it so far. Clean and easy to use. Only thing I'm not liking is the change to FB messenger chat heads but that's an android thing so just something I gotta get used to

Help old addresses in the mail app

I did not expect that my reaction at the beginning of my text could be perceived in this way. I'm a very nice guy by nature and I'm sorry that my style was arrogant, which I certainly didn't mean. Thank you very much for this interesting information. It looks like the whole thing is not as simple as I thought before. I do not know if it makes sense to give the names of the apps I use.as we already know, one app provides these addresses, another - no. what it depends on, I do not know. the makers of this app i use and show these addresses will add the future that i - we can delete them,at last because they had a lot of complaints. I still don't understand/know why I can't /may not delete them myself in the app itself or somewhere else..where? .

Help Microsoft-Android Wifi Issue - can not connect to SkyPe, Outlook

Then it's an issue with Microsoft, since both Skype and Hotmail use their servers

Nobody seems to have a clue at "Microsoft". They just suggested the usual troubleshooting that I´ve already done. Reinstalling the Skype app (though I use Outlook email in a browser so not sure how that was supposed to make that work), rebooting the modem/router (which I do regularly anyway, as it´s often turned off at night), deleting data, clearing cookies, changing the time and date on the phone.

It´s a complete mystery.

how to sync android calendar and thunderbird calendar

Regarding offline sync: in TB 78+ (2021) addons / myphoneexplorer etc. don't work anymore - i just found a solution to quickly do a "1-way-offline-sync " (from TB to Android while overwriting Android entries) via USB:
1. connect android phone to USB - open externalSD / folder..
2. in TB address book - export .vcf file to desktop and in TB calendar export your calendar file “xxx.cal”
3. copy both files to phone folder and
4. on phone
- open .cal file with calendar app => imports (and overwrites) all calendar items
- open .vcf file with android app “VCF file contact import” and “save in contacts” (overwrites)
Its a shame there is no offline sync feature (with android) in TB - should be a basic feature these days...

Serious Android flaw threatens hundreds of millions of users

Advertising may be a separate company (though the manufacturer will surely have its own marketing department contracting and overseeing), but that's a detail, nothing more. The factors that drive the use of such techniques to drive sales are the cause, and whether they are done in-house or contracted-out doesn't matter.

You've now got me thinking about how advertising could exist without driving consumerism, but I suspect that it's not possible - it would end up like tobacco advertising: you start by restricting certain associations between product and lifestyle, but in the end it just has to go completely ;).

I have no problem with truthful advertising.

Tell me how much power the vehicle has, and the comfort options.

Don't show me the car flying through clouds of cotton candy with strippers on the hood.

Unfortunately (?), strippers, cotton candy, and flying cars are more sales inducing than realistic horsepower stats, torque specs, and leather vs velore interior options.

And that is a problem with society as a whole- not with advertisers that are paid to make products appeal to the masses.
