Will T-Mobile 5G upgrade improve reception or not?

Thanks for the comments. I've looked at T-Mobile's coverage numerous times - mostly out of frustration and disbelief. It's no surprise that my neighborhood has "outstanding" coverage - except it doesn't. Interestingly my daughter's boyfriend has worked for a company for several years that installs cellular towers and repeaters for T-Mobile and he's well aware of the issues. The majority of new installations are in the areas of new construction, mostly south and east, which makes sense, but it leaves more established areas with older technology and less "saturation" as a result. In the rush to dominate the 5G market T-Mobile is taking shortcuts that may come back to haunt them - like me potentially switching to another carrier!

Phone cooler popup

phone cooler? what is that? is it an ad as @mikedt suggested? can you post a screenshot of it?

It sounds like an ad for an app that 'cools' the CPU by force stopping cached and unused running apps (bloatware).

As we know, these actually slow the device, because the apps soon restart- which takes even more power and memory than if they were left alone in the first place.

Apps like that are a really good reason to stay far, far away from Google Play because the Play Store promotes these apps and there are literally thousands of them on the Play Store.

What a joke.
The very company that warns against using apps from anywhere else is the main purveyor of crAPPs like that.

Hex editing app data

That sounds like what I used to with Commodore 64 and Amiga games back in the day, using Action Replay or Game Genie cartridges, where I could enter certain hex codes into a game and it would give me infinite lives, or infinite ammo, or make me indestructible, etc. But these cheat cartridges were hardware devices plugged into the computer, and the hex codes were all documented. However I'm quite certain there's no cheat cartridges made for Android,

Thing is, you might have a hex editor app and the game files, but you'd need to find the exact bytes you have to edit to achieve your desired cheat in the game. Of course I don't know what game you want to hex edit, but it may have countermeasures against hacking/tampering, like running CRC checks.

Yeah, when I used to do hex editing for playing PC games, I'd have separate sheets for where to find exact bytes and how to convert hex code to decimal, etc. I recall using some kind of cheat engine for PC games; but not the specific name (it may have been HxD).

Well if I figure it out, great. If not, I'll just keep playing normally.

Help HTC One M9 stuck in bootloop. [Broken, Assumed Unfixable]

I believe that my phone was sold in the UK and I have an EE sim but I don't believe it was obtained from EE originaly.I have a .exe that is supposed to work, but as I said I can't actually get into download mode to use it. I had a look at the internals and I don't see any signs of heat or water damage, so I believe the NAND has just died. Not sure if it was planned obsolescence orjust dropping it one too many times, but I think I'm going to try extract 2FA codes from Google (I can't log into Discord without them) and I'm just going to buy a new screen and frame for my broken u11 to fix that. Thank you for all of the help!

Quite frankly it sounds like time for a new phone.

Font Server App

What no replies? All these genius with an opinion and no answer. Why don't you guys tell me how normal this is.

Well from the pics you posted of "Google Play services", "Device Administrator" etc. Which is what all Android phones and tablets have.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG!!

If you think your online accounts have been compromised, I strongly suggest change your passwords and enable two-factor authentication logins.

Apps Unresolved Reference Error

Hi, I'm new to android studio. I have installed android studio 4.2.0 and run the application on Windows 10 with i5, 8GB ram and NVIDIA MX230 Graphics. I'm simply trying to change text of a TextView named "firstText" using the .kt file as follows:
Code:
class MainActivity : AppCompatActivity() {
    override fun onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle?) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState)
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_main)
       firstText.text = "Welcome humans"
        }
    }
}
The firstText throws an error as "unresolved reference" and for the .text it throws "variable expected". What should I do to get this working?

Time to say goodbye to my beloved LG V30

Wow! Love the galaxy s21 ultra 5g and it's specs.
Any ideas where I can get a great deal without signing on to a new carrier? I am on simple metro pcs.
Thanks!
PM

Here in Jinan, China, I just got a nice deal on a Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G, and the local Samsung store had deals on Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G as well. Of course there's no carrier contract commitments in this country. What really sold me on the Note20 rather than S21, is the Note20 can use micro-SD for expandable storage and the S21 doesn't.

Help How do I disable google assistant?

I might add that if you don't use Google search bars (I figure I can use a browser for search, why would I want widget cluttering my desktop) or voice search in Maps you can disable Assistant as well as turning it off by disabling the Google app. The reason I did this was that if my finger lingered on the wrong button for too long I would get a prompt to turn Assistant on, and disabling that app was the way to get rid of those prompts.

(Now if only there was a way of getting rid of those dishonest pop-ups asking me to "turn on device location" that some apps produce - dishonest because I do have location on, what that prompt does is turn on the wireless network part of the location service, which allows Google to collect more information. But if you click OK it just does this silently, and doesn't show the privacy notice that you see if you turn "Google location accuracy" on via the Settings. In my book that is doubly dishonest.)

What can I do to speed up my phone?

If you can deal with it...
every Google atrocity on the device that you can do without should be disabled.

The worst offender is Google Play Services, but many things are tied into that one.

Any apps that you don't use should be uninstalled, or if there are bloatware system apps you don't use they should be disabled.

If you have opened your developers options, you can gain a tiny bit of speed by decreasing or eliminating the circled items below.

Tap each one and select a lower value, or even off.

Also in developers options, you can check your running apps.
This will tell you all apps that are running at the moment.
It can also tell you which app(s) are slowing down the device by using too much memory and/or running constantly.

I have a few more tricks up my sleeves, but try these first.

Force Wipe

The device is a Securus JP6s. I’ve recently left being incarcerated and am trying to unlock my tablet without having to send it into the manufacture and paying for it.
ok then you are screwed.....those things are locked down extremely tight.

so this is really not ransomware. this is a tablet with and android software that has things built in to be locked down tight. if you can unlock the bootloader then we can get some place.......but like i said these things are locked up pretty tight and i 100% sure that your bootloader is locked down.

sorry, but your better off getting a new device.
