Formats, formats, formats

I now have 4 readers: Nook (my "favorite" at this point), Moon+Reader, PocketBook, and Readler. I hope I can post these 2 screenshots of how many different formats. Is that enough for ya? STILL there are some it cannot handle. It gets tiresome. Besides whining, I wanted to ask how/if I can convert some of the weirder formats to the normal stuff, i. e. pdf or epub, how to import covers (if, again), and how to make them all open east west, that is, horizontally. Vertically is probably better than nothing, but I definitely prefer the other.

No circle app icon shapes on Android 10

Yeah, but that image I've posted, that's the default icons right? I say this because every image of Android 10 I see has circled icons.

FWIW I've got two devices here running Android 10, Huawei Mate 10 phone and a T95 Android box, and neither of which is showing circled icons by default. Although the Huawei phone has some icon themes with circled icons, that can be installed if I wanted from the Huawei "Theme Store" app.

This is apparently the stock icon set for a Google Pixel device with Android 10. Some apps are circle like icons, but not all, like Amazon. This is what comes from Google of course, and not some other manufacturer that might apply their own customizations.

Help a senior citizen

When I go into my phone museum and dig out my first Android phone (LG Optimus M) it seems so tiny now. I think it was a 3.5" screen.
The 6" phones we consider normal now were regarded as huge "phablets" not that long ago. Progress- ;)

Yeah, I recall those early Notes being mocked and ridiculed! Yet here we are...
In late 2019 I actually posted a YouTube video contrasting the Galaxy Note 10+ and the Motorola Droid from ten years prior. This is a shot from that.

Hi

Thanks for the detailed info and is what I think I expected. If I am not mistaken one of the big differences between Android and many other systems is that Android is not coded device specific, wheras Windows is and all of the embedded systems I worked on were coded and compiled for a specific processor. I am trying to use this Android phone as a GPS navigation platform, with no SIM and an external GNSS receiver connecting via bluetooth. I have used the Memory map navigation software since 2004 and is only now that I am having to move from a Windows CE device to Android. The program loads via the playstore and runs with no issues, the map data is stored Root/Data/Data/Com.memorymap.mm2/Files/DMS/GB/OS2016 and only works when downloaded from their server which is a problem when not in range of my WiFi connection. The problem is that the program seems to have issues with finding the location of this map data. There is a folder called map_folders.txt located in Root/Data/Data/Com.memorymap.mm2/Files which contains the paths and I am currently trying to check and add to see if this works but there information states " We have found that changes in the way Android opens files is now just giving the app an internal copy of the map, instead of opening the file in-place." which is not making sense because these map files are very large, in C I would just pass a pointer that points to the data because I don't need to modify it but I am not an Android programer and I don't believe Android or Linux use pointers. I suppose the company is like myself, spent all its life with Windows and is now faced with Android and is probably not yet up to speed.
