Boot From SD to Clear Device

You can't boot an android device from an SD card.

If you want to factory reset an android device the way to do it is to boot into recovery mode (which involves booting while pressing some combination of buttons - which combination depends on the device/manufacturer), from where you can select factory reset from the menu. However, that will not undo changes to system software, it just erases user-installed apps and data.

However it's not clear what you mean when you say "with software installed on it", since any Androd device has software installed on it. If you just mean that there is some app installed which you can't uninstall then a reset will do that, though if you can access the system menus there should be other ways. If however the system software has been modified you will need to do something different to change that: again, procedures and tools are device/manufacturer-specific, but in general it involves putting the device into fastboot or download mode and using a computer to flash the software. I've never heard of Amiko so have no information about how you flash their devices.

If your software is an image you might be able to boot into it temporarily using the "fastboot boot" command from a computer (with the software image also on the computer), but not all devices support "fastboot boot" (if yours does you need to install fastboot on a computer, connect the device via USB and boot it into fastboot mode). But that's only temporary.

I'm afraid that the bottom line is that more information about what you are trying to do and the software you are trying to install might help, because there are a lot of possibilities here.

Hi Hadron,

Thanks for replying to me.

I contacted the manufacturer (Amiko) and they told me to download a system image (which they provided) to SD and it would auto boot from this (I did as they asked and it would not boot). Then they told me if that did not work to take it to my seller...a load of rubbish, they obviously do not want to waste time as it is now outdated (not for me).

Because of whatever software was loaded on the box by my seller (whom I no longer use) I am limited on what I can access. I can access the SD card but cannot get it to boot that way.

Hope this makes sense. If you need any other info please let me know as I have two of these boxes and it would help if I could use them again.

Help Move applications to SD card is very limited

An often overlooked way to save space on a budget device is to use your browser to access social media sites instead of using the apps for those sites.

Facebook, for example, can grow to be quite large.
On your browser, it could be mearly another bookmark.

The browser is already there, why not use it?

Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and whatever else social media site you can think of are all easilly accessed with a browser that takes up a fraction of the space.

Youtube is another one.

All of the individual apps can be uninstalled, and just use your browser- have a bookmark for each site that you wish.

Also, any videos and pictures that you have on the device, along with music and documents should be stored onto the SD card.

Basically, the card is there for you to store personal media on, and the device memory is there for apps that read this media and also allow for internet access.

Forex Market Hours

There are no widgets on the mobile phone. I am trading for a very long period and I even was thinking of creating an app. The alternative I found was very good. I use my google chrome as a Forex informer. I put the main page with information as the main page and every time I open my browser, the first thing I see is new from the trading world. It isn't much comfortable as the widget but this is the only alternative I found. I found this lifehack on a site made by forex signals providers. Now I am thinking of making sponsorship and collecting money for this purpose, to create the widget.

Wish To Send Photos To SD Card Pictures Folder But I'm Lost!

Thank You Puppykickr for explaining what the Pictures folder is used for.

I checked File Manager, as you illustrated. It revealed that Screen Shots are going here on my phone.

Thanks, too, for your advice about Read-Write cycles shortening the life of the SD card. I do tend to put photos on my computer and delete them from the phone, so I'll take your advice.

Thanks Again to everyone who took time to help and share good information.

Please Enjoy This Day!
Paul
