I have ordered a Ulefone Armor 7 which as far as I can tell ticks all the boxes I want. Surprisingly enough the newer ones didn't tick the boxes which seemed a bit wierd

after looking at the picture, are you sure it is a notification? because those icons are not at the top notification bar. it is not where the time and signal strength is. maybe this is on the homescreen? if so, then it might be an app.

Actually looking again those aren't even notifications: they are not in a bar at the very top of the screen. It looks more like a widget or bar of app icons, which also explains the consistency of the icon themes.

But if those are from an icon pack then it's impossible for anyone to say what the specific app is, since they won't be the original app icons. I should have spotted this sooner, as it's something I do myself...

Following your suggestion, I've been studying the Chinese brands that you mentioned. So far, it seems one gets very good specifications for reasonable money. I will assume tech support is non-existant, but there's always Android Forums to the rescue. (And the people here have given me far more useful support than the manufacturer of my existing phone possibly could.)

The Poco X3 NFC that you mentioned looks amazing for the money. The only place I've found it for sale so far is eBay, shipped form China. I couldn't find the pricing & purchase information on the Mi site. Hopefully soon a US vendor will have it.

I had a moment of guilt about buying a Chinese phone until I searched where the USA brand names & Nokia (Finland name) brands are physically made. (So much for that guilt.) I was surprised to find the Moto name is now owned by Lenovo & Nokia name is owned by a different Finish company.

Thankfully, my wife let me hijack her phone so I don't have to be in a giant rush to choose. Soon, but not an emergency.

Not surprised, but really hoped it was otherwise, lol. Article i read said 'one of the 500 models it is available on' and there is NO way 500 cars have *wireless* AA. So yea, that was a bit misleading.

Well we'd start a conversation to make sure everything's on the up and up. Then I'd give you my full name and address (Not a post office box). Then you'd send it to me with a return label enclosed.
Id use it for a couple of weeks then send it back.

"limited service", the phone is possibly blacklisted, or it's a SIM problem maybe, or some problem with your account, like did you pay your bill?

Suggest you contact your carrier customer service about it.

It will be apps that haven't been updated yet.

Android 11 depreciates "custom" toast messages, so when an app tries to send one this is what happens. That's my best guess at what you are seeing (I've seen a fair few myself, having been using 11 for a number of weeks now).

Is your phone plugged into a charger while you do this?

If so, you can use a setting in the developers options (stay awake) that will keep the screen on (and the device active) while the phone is charging.
Keeping the device awake will keep the app(s) active.

The cool thing about this is that you can then turn the screen off, but the phone will still stay awake with the screen off.

I have a couple of ways to turn the screen off for when I am doing similar to what you want to do, but don't need/want the screen to be on- just having the sound on and having the device stay active so that the app(s) don't close.
