Huawei Watch 2 Reset

You can contact Huawei and see if the PIN is an FRP requirement; or if there is a way around it. I owned a Huatch 2 and never had a PIN... then again, it was a Wi-Fi watch and not 4G. That may be part of a SIM lock - for a SIM that isn't there anymore. They may be able to clear it.

As far as the charge goes, yep: about a day's use is all you can expect, even from a new one. That's why I left it on the charger overnight while I slept, and used it all day.

Notification icon questions

first off, trying to identify an app notification icon is very hard. there are millions upon millions of apps that have their own icons.......that's a lot of apps!!!!!! so unless it is a popular app, trying to find an app based off an icon is very hard to do unless you have access to the phone. but, in most cases the phone is not accessible.

secondly it would help if you had a screenshot of the icon. but really a heart icon could be anything. it could be something like a health app or something like iheart radio.

thirdly, it is better if you just ask your girlfriend. there should be no need to go behind the person's back.......but i'm not one to really give relationship advice.

and lastly we get this question asked almost on a daily basis. and a good majority of them do not get a full answer. most of us will give a good guess, but like i said earlier, we can't give a guess unless we see what you are talking about.....so a screenshot would help.

anyways, good luck.

Key pad on Android starting screen not working

On my Lenovo K6 Power phone, on the Android starting screen, the touch keypad for entering the pin is not working. The bottom row of buttons (comprising of the 'back' button, the '0' button and 'ok' button) does not function. When these buttons are pressed the screen displays characters of a row above, as if those have been pressed. So, I have not been able to start my phone at all. Can someone help with a solution?
you can try a hard reset. keep in mind that this will delete your data and will trip FRP (Factory Reset Protection) as well. as long as you know your google acct info (email and password) that was originally used to setup the phone, you should be in good shape.

if a hard reset does not fix the issue, then i think you might have a hardware failure and will need to get it fixed or get a new phone.

Switch Android to Android Texts back to SMS

The over-riding limitation with text messaging is there's a reliance on SMS and MMS as the only two protocols that all the texting services will support. Apple uses its iMessage protocol as its default, WhatsApp uses its WhatsApp protocol as its default, and just recently Google has been pushing its RCS as a new Android default. iMessage and WhatsApp are closed-source and proprietary, only in play when it's a point-to-point interaction (i.e. Apple user to another Apple user). RCS is not Open Source but Google has licensed it so it can be readily used by any texting service. But Apple has refused to adopt RCS into its iMessage app so at this point RCS is just another texting protocol. SMS and MMS are antiquated and have inherent limitations keeping up with today's technology, but they remain as the tenuous link we all rely upon as far as text messaging.

Your issue appears to be tied to how MMS is transferred. SMS takes up a minimal amount of bandwidth, and it can travel via WiFi, cellular, or Bluetooth connections. MMS messages can involve more bandwidth though, still a relatively low amount, but still more. Within common carriers (both sender and receiver using the same service), you 'might' be successful sending a MMS message over WiFi or cellular but in most cases you do need to use mobile data. Also keep in mind that any iMessage group text (and most Android group texts) are sent as MMS. There's an added issue where iMessage to iMessage and WhatsApp to WhatsApp interactions all take place within either Apple's servers or WhatsApp servers respectively, and that takes place no matter which carrier is in use. A benefit is since each of those closed systems transfer within each system, a user doesn't have to worry so much about file attachment sizes -- i.e. since all iMessage transfers take place within Apple's online servers file attachment limits are quite ample, but with MMS carriers will automatically scale down higher res photos and videos on-the-fly. It all boils down to all these variables are factor and conditional in different ways as to what device you're using and what device your recipient is using.

Text messaging is plagued by corporate oversight, there are multiple players involved and each is opting to use its own standard. Unlike email where that eventually became a common standard (POP and IMAP), by all indications texting doesn't appear to be heading in that same direction. So yeah, with MMS you'll probably need to use mobile data connectivity.

Too many attempts error every morning

Every morning I get the error message that I had too many attempts to use facial or fingerprints to unlock and have to use my pin.

That's not a problem, but I can't figure out the reason for the message. The phone is sitting on my night stand, and I haven't touched it all night.

Does anyone know what's going on?

I have been looking for a few months for an answer to this myself. I wonder if it's a Moto Z4 issue since that's what I have. Sorry I don't have a solution but I'm following here. Not a huge problem, just odd.

Help What happened to HiSuite?

Try another USB cable, and a different USB port on your computer? When you reinstalled HiSuite on your phone, try running it, does it show you an 8 digit number, which you have to enter on the computer HISuite?

FYI I use HiSuite as well.

HiSuite 10.0.1.300_OVE
Huawei Mate 10 ALP-AL00, Android 10.0
MacOS Catalina 10.15.6
My setup is different to yours of course.

I used the right cable. The problem is that HiSuite disappeared from my phone.

topreports.news / taboola popup

So far, no more adware. Might have been my WTForecast. I kind of wish I did the other apps one at a time, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Popup Ad Detector, and Snoop Snitch. Malwarebytes did end up thinking that 42 of my apps were malware. I deleted some of the ones that I didn't use much, but left the rest. I just did another scan and it found no malware.

As a side note, I'm pretty impressed that this phone is still chugging along. I've had it about 2 and a half years now.

Android 9 : "Battery usage data isn't available"?

never had that happen on my note 10 when it was on pie....nor have i heard that here.....so i would not totally blame this on android. it could a software issue with your specific phone. it happens a lot with off brand phones. keep in mind that manufacture's add in their own stuff on top of the android os......so it could be that rather then blame android.

if a factory reset does not fix your issues then there is not much you can do other then return the phone, if it is still under warranty......or you will just have to learn to deal with it.
