Before I proceed, let me explain that I am recently employed into this new company as a junior IT support. I mainly do hardware with very2 little programming knowledge. Recently my company upgraded to a newer server and we have changed the location of the databases. However our apps are still pointing towards the old server url/location. I have been in contact with the app developers on how to change the configuration of the apk; in which it needs to be decompiled. They are engaged in a big project and was unable to assist me at this moment. Instead, they have given me the whole folder containing all the source code (Shown in the screenshot).



I was asked to:-

1. Change the URL setting in on of the config.ts file contained in the res folder - done -
2. Recompile everything to APK so that the 'new' apk can be installed on our mobile android devices.

Upon reading the README file in the folder, it is obvious I am supposed to rebuild this apk app using nativescript. Please see screenshots:-





My questions / Issues :-

1. I have done the steps required in the README file such as:-
   a. Install [node js] (https://nodejs.org/dist/v10.15.1/node-v10.15.1-x64.msi). Make sure to use version > v10 LTS (I am now using ver v12.22.12)
   b. Install Nativescript CLI using git bash
   npm install -g nativescript
   Done
   c. Install Java SE Development Kit 8u201 Done
   d. Install [Android Studio] (Download Android Studio & App Tools - Android Developers) Done
   e. Create android emulator. Done
   f. Clone this repository. <---- How is this done correctly? Do I copy the whole project folder and place it under an active working folder to generate the apk app? Please advise
2. Do I run the .sh script PRIOR to running the related commands in tns such as 'tns android build' / 'tns android debug'?
3. I did a tns debug android using command prompt (Admin rights) in the folder path and received :-

I DID refer back to the developer of this app, however he did not have any comments rather than the android apk was created using nativescript (duh!). I have also send him the exact same question here however he is not replying as prompt as I expected. Would appreciate if anyone with the expertise could assist and guide me moving forward. Well...any luck? Least around the time you posted this people on xda got the ally to run 2.3.7 max (I think their link is dead). The most alive thing I found was 2.3.5 which worked perfectly. Idk maybe I can try my hand at it. ffs the galaxy s3 can now run android 13 (should have gone with oreo or nougat...13s a bloated mess) and ics and jellybean have now been poked and prodded at in every way imaginable so it cant be too hard these days.

the problem you will run into is finding any files that still exist to make this happen. there really is no dev community supporting the device any more. all the threads i have seen date back to 2013. i can't search xda because something is wrong with their forum section. but a google search shows threads that are pretty old.

Yeah, I think you are on to something haha. I forgot that was even an option. There are other ways to dim the screen, probably apps for just that or automation apps - I use Tasker but IFTTT or Macrodroid would work. I have mine set to dim when the screen is face down.

I haveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so many of my fb friends from the other side of the pond!!! All they do is guzzle warm beer hahaa!!

I too use mine much more as a laptop. For a long time, I didn't see tablets (including smartphones) as serious computers. Now I do, now I see their value, so I'm trying to use tablets systems (Android and iOS) more often. But old habits die hard.

A problem with the matrix. You will probably have to replace the screen.

My parents used to have some early 2000s Pioneer Plasma set and used it until around 2015 when they needed HDMI and 'smart apps'. the Pioneer wasn't full HD yet had a beautiful picture and lasted a long time in an era where many people were led to believe plasma would only last a couple of years before 'burning out'. I wonder why plasma doesn't exist today?

I only remember rear projection big screens being terrible even in the 80s. I knew a few rich neighbors who had those TVs in woodgrain and even C-band satellite behemoths in their backyards, and waiting 20 seconds of hearing relays clacking and other noises as it re-oriented the dish out back to change the channel. Those TVs were only milky if you sat directly in front of 'em, and unviewable at any angle. Great speakers though, could rattle the windows. Those behemoths were reliability nightmares and many were out on the curb by 1990. The one with C-band had the TV fail by suddenly making one bright white flash from the back of the set followed by a loud, window-shattering bassy BOOM from the speakers, followed by smoke. i think one of the three CRTs had imploded.

I found credence in the follow me leadership. A real team motivator is to see its leader working hard to accomplish the task at hand.

I discovered the same thing on an earlier laptop. I switched to Fedora and the network chipset wasn't loaded into Fedora, but it was with Ubuntu

i think Avatar 2 is better in every aspect. the visuals alone is soooooo much better. the world that James Cameron created is amazing, especially the underwater world. the plot is ok, i agree that the 1st is slightly better. and just like the 1st, i will gladly watch the 2nd many times. can't wait to see what Avatar 3 will be like.

Now I just wiped Windows on one of my HDDs on the gaming rig to install this same version, but thankfully it came without as flat of icons out of the gate. My terminal icon has far more gloss than that screenshot for example. Perhaps it's detecting my GPU? My icons also have frames around them.

But the irony of having Chrome from Google on a Linux distro. I went full-on Linux to ditch both Google and Microsoft's influence. Open Source Chromium sure, but Google Chrome? no. That's like having the Linux version of MS Edge. At that point just use Windows.

Only companies that doen't operate their own factories, and depend on an OEM such as Foxconn, e.g. Apple and Microsoft.

AFAIK Samsung phones have always been made in Samsung's own factories, mainly in Vietnam these days. And as Samsung phones are evidently being assembled by robots now, I don't think suicides or atrocities really comes into them.

I think that next year could prove very interesting for Fold phones. By then, Google and OnePlus wll have a year of beta testing on the public and I would expect some major improvements from both. Samsung have, IMHO, coasted with the Fold5 and whilst it does offer some improvements, I could not actually make a case for Fold4 users to upgrade this time around.
