MAN, DO I NEED HELP!!

I have a MainActivity.kt along with its related MainActivity.xml.

I also have a Fragment that is a part of the MainActivity and it is consists of a MyFragment.kt and MyFragment.xml.
Within the MyFragment.xml I've specified that the MyFragment is Invisible, which means that wne the app starts and the MainActivity gets laid out, that MyFragment is not visible to the user.

I also have a MakeMyFragmentVisibleButton that's part of the MainActivity which, when clicked, I want to cause the MyFragment to become visible.

I am ASSUMING that while the MyFragment is INvisible no buttons or other controls that might be IN that MyFragmment are effectgivly UN-available to the user. He can't see them, can't interact with them.

BUT when the MakeMyFragmentVisibleButton is clicked by the user I want the MyFragment to become visible and thereby make any controls that might be within the MyFragment become visble and the user can interact with them.

That is how I WANT it to work.

BUT I can't figure out how to cause the MyFragment to become visible. I have succeeded in setting an onClickListener for the Button and it does indeed get called when the user clicks the button. But I haven't figure out WHAT CODE actually must run in order to make the MyFragment VISIBLE.

I looked at dozens of YouTube videos and online documents but they all seem to be written in JAVA. My app is in Kotlin which, unfortunately I have zero experience with (I have 45 years experience as a software engineer but I"m baffled by Kotlin).

So, if someone could PLEASE enlighten me as to what I need to do in Kotlin code to cause a Fragment to become visible (and correspondingly IN-visible) I would really appreciate it.

I've been looking at my options. I follow a number of teams and currently have the MLB package. My home team is the Royals. They stink so bad that they will not make ESPN or network. If I didn't have the MLB package, I get all of the Royals games on Bally sports KC through DirecTV. When I drop DTV I'll lose the package and Bally KC. Not only will I lose the majority of my baseball, I'll lose my home team. I suspect that I sound like a spoiled child... because I am. I've had the MLB package for a number of years and have always been able to watch the Royals through cable and then DTV. I'll miss my baseball.

Bally sports is offered by a number of streaming services. I can subscribe after confirming that Bally KC is part of their programming. I can subscribe to a streaming service that offers the MLB package or simply subscribe directly from MLB.com.
All of it is doable but it makes streaming a lesser value. I talked my wife into making the big change so we would pay less. I've got to make that happen or I'm in the dog house.

What about modern android notifications such as those from 'permission controller' or 'Android System' which also show icons in the 'app' area? Even the periodic 'GPS searching' icon when something requests location shows under the app area, despite it being a system service.

Heck, violations of this Android 'policy' date back to Cupcake. I don't think even Google claimed there was such a thing as an 'app' and 'system' section of the notification bar. I only upgraded to 32GB on my gaming PC to run Flight Simulator 2020. It was a slideshow without due to RAM maxing out.

'counterfeit' batteries have become far less common since batteries are now sealed. Back in the removable battery days, tons of third-party batteries, including dodgy ones, existed. Often it bit those who kept their devices long-term, and the OEM supply had long since run out.

That said, it won't be sudden most of the time. Leaving your phone on charge long-term can cause it, and it shows itself today by being so slightly bulged that you wouldn't notice it until your phone becomes a sort of fidget spinner because it's no longer level on the table. However, the Note 7 was a thing. Those phones, sealed batteries and all, were instantly cremating themselves despite two recalls later. Enough that Samsung issued a software update first to limit charge to 65%, then later to disable the ability to charge, essentially killing the model that way.

The only time a Li-Ion battery does instant fire is when they have a dead short inside them. You'll be aware when the phone gets so suddenly hot that it's burning you somehow. Li-ion fires/shorts are not as common as they used to be, but occasionally happen, much to the dismay of a certain few Tesla owners.

Just be aware, many 'custom ROMs' aren't what they used to be, neither are any tweaks that depend on root. A ton of modification that was once hidden behind root permissions are built-into modern Android. Root today will make a lot of important apps and games no longer work due to something Google added in called Safetynet. This means that a lot of banking apps refuse to open, and games such as Pokemon Go won't work. Secure Boot is also enforced today, meaning that root might make the phone unbootable in some cases, showing a red triangle screen saying the system is modified and no longer safe (which you can't bypass).



The glory days of CyanogenMod 7.1's level of tweaks, or AOKP and Paranoid Android are long past us, regrettably.

Simply making enough outgoing calls can make your number get listed this way. My mother's number often shows up as 'suspected scam' because she makes tons of outgoing calls and the carrier has flagged the number.

It's similar to the Cloudflare 'ban' you get from too many Google searches.

Sometimes the change or 'upgrade' ain't worth the issues it causes. Remember when we could make phone calls and not get punished for it? Yeah.

A third party phone app won't fix it. The carrier's own system is what flags the caller ID and uses the suspected scam tag. It happens a ton to legit businesses that use telemarketing to advertise. Many times elderly people don't get important medical insurance or prescription automated calls over it. Just like installing another browser won't get your Google search back if Cloudflare has instilled a 24 hour soft ban on your IP.

Hi all, I have been trying for 3 days to create some code (button click) that will allow me to select a mp3 file from the media library and copy it to another directory within the app structure. I have sought assistance from 2 ai sources but have but have gotten all tangled up in permissions and other structural problems. So far I cannot even get the file open dialog to start and show any files. Does someone have some sample code that actually works? I would need to specify the music library location and the destination location.

I switched to Google messages. I gave up trying. Google messages works perfect but less customizable.
