Auto resize wallpaper when going to/from landscape/portrait mode?

i am too lazy to use wallpapers that i make or find on the web. for me i use Zedge for all of my wallpapers and also for my ringtones. Zedge will resize the photo to your phone.....though i have a found some that will not.

"Rooted" refers to the state of the ROM, i.e. whether it has been modified so that the user can grant admin rights to user-installed apps. So if the ROM part of the sequence of files you flashed was stock (official software) then your phone will not be rooted. My guess would be that it isn't rooted, since a process that replaces TWRP with a stock recovery and locks the bootloader doesn't sound like one that will install a rooted ROM.

I'm not familiar with modifying Huawei phones, so can't say. But yes, it is possible that the update path for one model, or one firmware version of one model, doesn't go as high as for another. If you've been flashing firmware for one model onto a different model it's also not impossible that the official update process looks at your device and says "hang on, something's not right here" and refuses to install any further updates, though in that case I'd think it more likely that it would apply no updates at all than that it would update so far and no further.

Well the "normal" thing that happens if you succeed in flashing a different model's firmware onto a phone is that the phone is hard-bricked ;).

I guess this is a device where they built one set of hardware and then disabled the dual SIM functionality via firmware in some regions or for some carriers, because that's the only way I can see what you've done here actually working. But my point is that being able to do this is a special case, so probably the only people who could say with confidence what to expect would be those who have performed similar mods on this model, or at least another Huawei of similar age. You could ask in one of those XDA threads, if there is anyone still watching them, but it's not a question I can answer.

I don't know where in Europe your tablet came from, but European frequencies are fairly uniform so I'll assume that a UK model is representative. In which case according to Samsung it should support LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 20, 25, 26, 28 32 and 66, while according to an ATT forum post they use bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 14, 17, 29 and 30, with 12 and 17 being the main bands. In which case you should have LTE compatibility. Samsung also claim that it should support 5G bands n5 and n77, which are used by ATT (plus others that are not).

So if the 3 sources I used here are all accurate (and that's not certain: manufacturers have themselves been known to post inaccurate information by copy-pasting between their regional sites!) you should be able to use 4G or 5G, provided you have coverage with the right bands.

You say that the APN settings change when you insert the SIM: do those settings look correct for ATT?

there's 50/50 success in using an old version of Google Play Music to play files offline if you're just that used to its UI, and some have a fraction of success in using older versions to stream, but since it's pretty much EOL by Google, that might not last much longer. If anything, it cemented my view against depeding on any of their apps long-term, yes, including Maps and YouTube, as anything they get their hands on dies eventually, and I am of the type who not only tries to buy for life, but keep apps of certain types for life.

I got one tablet, a Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE from 2013, that surprisingly still connects to the online portion of Play Music, since it's showing Roy D Mercer queued up on it, which is a YouTube Music playlist I created some time back, but it no longer gets updates to the OS and Google Play Services so it can't 'force' me to stop using it. Will it last? Nope...probably not. Which is why I don't use it.

How to enable restricted settings?

Hello, I have this App called Cube ACR to record calls. I mainly record calls to help remember stuff like appointment times and such.

However since i have android 13, i need to allow restricted settings on the app. But when i go to the app, the 3 dots (more settings) is not there to turn off restrictive settings. What can i do?

speedtest.net's credibility was debunked for me the very instant they claimed I had 25mbps down when in reality I barely had enough to stream 360p YouTube and it took over a week to download the day-one patch to Fallout 4. If anything my internet experience and cellular experience only solidifies my love of physical media over streaming, owning my own music and keeping anything digital on my device over some cloud that always disippates anyway, and not depending so heavily on being online. Many of my PCs are air-gapped now, and only two remain in active service at home, one that is air-gapped and this one which only seems to be used for this forum and some Reddit reads.

The last modern bits in my home are a Nest Audio and hub, one Home speaker, a really old Echo Dot, Nintendo Switch (which works offline better than a PS4 or Xbox) and my Z Flip 4. Everything else has gone vintage or stays stuck in 2009-10

No thanks, my own way of determining my internet speed seems to work best over some rando app.

App Inventor Google TV remote volume up/down not registering

Hey all I have been trying to get my remotes volume up/down buttons to register in my app but they never seem to do anything when I press them?

I have tried:

But like I said, every time I hit the buttons they never fire any of those above. The only ones that register are the Dpad up/down/left/right, center button and the back button.

I cam change the volume just fine using this code:

Help Forget to press record

.......There is a timer showing after pressing the record button.

Sometimes after pressing the [video] tab, I just forget to press the record button, and the red round button makes me think that recording has started because it is showing red.......


This is just something you are going to have to train yourself to remember. Write down on a piece of paper, "Look for Timer, Press Record" a 100 times.

I don't know how bad or serious your forgetfulness is. If it's real bad, maybe seeing a doctor would help

Help Using third party apps for email

If you are concerned about privacy there is one difference of significance: does the third party app simply transfer between the mail provider's server and your phone, or is there processing or storage of the mail by the app provider's server? For example if an app talks about "intelligent sorting" of your inbox that may be done by the app, but more likely it's done by the app vendor's server which means that they are analysing your mail in their systems. You may or may not be happy with that, but it requires a higher degree of trust so to my mind is a significant difference.

(The only first party mail app I use is ProtonMail: I use third party apps for all other mail).

Both contacts and photos access are things that you should have to allow yourself (unless you have a very old phone), so you can just not grant the app access.

I do not find that the majority of apps ask for these, but maybe you just install a different type of app from me. I'd always ask "why does this app want that?", and if I can't see a reason I'm wary: it could be data mining, or it could just be badly coded, but either way I don't want it. ;)

But it's not always obvious why an app might want a permission, e.g. a flashlight wanting Contacts access is a red flag, but a flashlight asking for Camera access is not suspicious because on some phones that's needed to turn the flash on. Many audio apps want phone access not to make calls but so that they can mute when a call comes in. Often apps will tell you why they ask for a permission, but if not it may require a little thought. Personally my default is that if an app asks for things I can see absolutely no legitimate reason for, even if I can deny it that access, I don't install it, but you do need to understand the range of reasons why a permission may be requested.
