That's a good thing! It's good for computers (including smartphones) to have lots of free space. And all it cost you was a few dollars.

I agree with Pitcarver. I used the specific phone "forums" before I purchased a phone. I checked the "forums" of the phones I was interested in to see what issues they had before buying it. And after I had the phone, I used the "forum" as a first line of help. A Pixel 4 won't have the same problems as a Pixel 6 Pro. Putting them all together doesn't make sense. As far as keeping the antiquated phone's forums open is silly. Why not turn the forums to read only when the phones stop being updated &/or supported? Then, after an agreed amount of time, delete the old forums to save space. Or you could put all the "expired" phone's questions in one Expired Phones forum.

No, just being pragmatic - would you pass up a well qualified candidate for a lesser qualified one just to satisfy some prejudice (That's what any form of selection based on criteria other than those required for the post in question surely is).

I did find a couple of settings - IIRC, something to do with accessibility and or gestures. I turned them off, as they seemed to be the kind of thing that could accidentally trigger things. [I lost track of exactly what I tried because of whatever the forum recently went through that kept me out of my account for a while, and a short term overload of other projects] I had as much of the voice stuff off from the beginning [as far as I knew], no bixby. The only apps on this device are what it came with, except for the Samsung player, and a playlist manager that I have never had problems with. I don't use it online either. I'll see what happens the next few times I'm in the situation....

It could be a faulty wifi module, which is hardware. Take it to a shop or buy a new phone

I went with total by Verizon once I remembered I put a number lock years ago on my postpaid Verizon account it took a few hours but the A53 phone is fully activated and number is ported over to total by Verizon.

Different carriers, like most businesses, rely upon their own levels of credit checking to confirm payment capability. Some are more invasive, some not so much.
This being a thread over a decade old, does any actually know if Verizon is or isn't still requiring a social security number? A lot of societal changes have occurred since the OP posted their query in 2012 and online privacy has become a bigger issue since that time.

Nothing, I did noticed it was sometimes ACSII, but somehow my firefox will not see the coding right where it is though, seriously this is a real show stopper.. me thinks it is the two protangist in the past within.

Gawd I hate Grub, Lilo was so much easier to modify. What options are getting when Grub comes up? I know there a Grub Customizer for Linux, so I would start there. Hopefully that allows you to modify the correct Grub. Normally Grub is in your Master Boot Record partition, but I have no idea where VirtualBox puts it.

Or don't have a lock screen. Just set it to swipe to unlock. Mine is fingerprinted so if I do pass on they can just use my fingerprint to open the phone.

i will try option 2, i need a 4g connection for my work and the current hotspot phone i use has developed an intermittent connection issue so i thought i would try using my old samsung so a no to option 4 and 3, as it seems to be bonded together would be a nightmare !

I know I'm a little late. But my advice to you, and others trying to install Android onto a x64 system, is to just keep installing Android distributions onto your system until you find one that works properly. Not all distributions work propelry on all devices. Just remember to update Android, before you dismiss a distribution as "not working properly" on your device!

I suppose, but it hasn't always been that way. As I said: Chrome OS used to be it's own operating system, not Android for laptops.

That said: Non-Chromium Android on the tablet, laptop, and desktop isn't dead. The Kindle Fire tablet comes with a non-Chromium Android. The Android-x86 distribution, which is designed to be installed onto x86 systems (most desktops and laptops), is not Chromium-based.

Well basically Google is banned and blocked in China(unless using a VPN), and no Android devices sold here have the Play Store or other Google apps. So Android device manufacturers partner with companies like Tencent, Alibaba, and Baidu to provide app stores and ecosystems on their devices. Samsung and Huawei runs their own app stores and ecosystems.

I've not shopped the golf simulators. I lack the space and I certainly lack the jack. Doing a search I see that the top line simulators run between 10 and 20K.
I'm sure that what Rory and Tiger are putting together will be better than that. Then they need to build a facility. It will need to be large enough for the contestants to sit while someone is hitting the ball. It will have to have a small bar to keep contestants hydrated and bathrooms. I would guess 2,000 sq' or so for a one bay facility. Another bay for two leagues playing at the same time might be in the future... maybe more bays if it really took off. I can see it happening and we are seeing the beginning. It would be a far less investment than a top golf facility. It could hold the same entertainment value. Add in a restaurant and piped music or streaming TVs with sports on. Pretty gals taking your order for snacks and beers. If I had the money Rory and Tiger have, I'd be doing exactly what they are doing.

yeah it is not Samsung's fault. its the cell providers fault here in the US:

don't have your phone. how do you know it is not connected? does it give you an error? or does it not work after pulling it out of the slot? have you tried rebooting your phone?

it might be hardware related. i would take it in to your provider or a samsung experience store and have them look at it.

well so far the reviews for the a53's camera are just so so:

i am a samsung guy thru and thru. never touched or seen a one plus phone so i can't comment on them.

why are you worrying about data usage? those 3 are only doing less than 3.5 KB. do you know how tiny that is?

SOLVED: The component was an EditText rather than TextView lul

Hi there, some questions about preventing a component from detecting touch from users (like the title). I'm developing an app that has a background rendered with OpenGL that also has a few TextView components layered on top of them:



The desired functionality is so that each horizontal half of the "triangles" can be pressed, with the left side (if oriented towards oneself) decreasing the number and the right incrementing it.

My current struggle is removing the ability for the TextView components to be interacted with, as they greatly reduce the "clickable" areas within the triangles:



As you can see, when you press directly on the TextView the component highlights itself and prevents the touch from being detected by the OpenGL layer.

Solutions I've tried:

• Adding
  XML:

  android:focusable="false"

  and
  XML:

  android:clickable="false"

  to the component in my activity's XML. Does not work. The second screenshot has both of those attributes currently set to false.
• Translating the TextView so that its Z value is less than the OpenGL layer: this hides the text (obviously).
• Creating a third layer to overlay on top of both TextView and OpenGL layers; essentially changing the current OpenGL layer to a background and moving the touch detection code to an invisible or translucent layer at the top of the stack.
  • I haven't worked with OpenGL in a long time and would need to spend a lot of research figuring out how to create invisible or translucent shapes, so I was going to attempt this only if necessary.

Is there anything that I'm missing or overlooking? Anyone know any solutions for a problem like this?
