Help Phone app on newer phones?

So long as you don't buy a newer Pixel just find the APK file of the Phone by Google app version you prefer (likely on a site such as apkmirror.com or apkpure.com), turn on 'unknown sources' in Security settings, open your preferred file manager app and tap the APK and hit install. I've been 'sideloading' like this since I don't even use Play Store or app stores.

I've had zero issues running a ton of ancient apps on modern Android (though I prefer my S4 Mini and older Galaxy Tabs that don't go higher than 4.0-4.4). I've had a collection of APKs from the Android 2.3 era that I backed up from my rooting endeavors, and still use. Many games and some paid apps that got removed from Google Play. They are also great ways to skeuomorph modern versions of Android and hide the 'flat' UI.

Help Google Home Hub always says 'Something went wrong'

That error spoken out often means it lost the DNS for whatever reason. When I tried using them I'd have to put them on a timer that basically 'rebooted' them a few times a day or I'd be guaranteed it'd fail with some variation of 'Something Went Wrong' or 'There was a glitch'. In the end it made more sense to use Google Assistant on the phone in the room with me which always seemed to work better.

The platform became more trouble in the end when I was using smart lighting. After a long day of work, the last thing I looked forward to was saying "Hey Google turn on the living room lights" to have one out of three light up, the second coming on super dim 40 seconds later, and the speaker inevitably saying "Living room lights are not responding at the moment' and worse is the lights wouldn't turn off. I ended up having to turn them all off manually, and turn them back on. Not very convenient, is it?

It did work far better than Amazon Alexa. That infuriating little freak would always endless loop with "There's many devices with that name, which one do you want?" when there was only ONE group called "living room lights!"

Android Studio - How do disable "Go to declaration" when long press on a Mac

When I long press a highlighted area or keyword in Android Studio (Electric Eel) on my Mac, it automatically jumps me to the declaration, which is extremely annoying, as I invoke this feature by accident 99.9% of the time. As such, I would like to disable it.

However, I couldn't find any information on how to disable this feature for AS Electric Eel. Does anyone know how to disable it? Thanks!

Clipboard doesn't save text.

Hello, I have an A53 with Android 13, and I use Gboard as keyboard. All updated.
The normal copy and paste, works fine, but the clipboard doesn't keep text in memory more than a few hours.
After a bunch of hours, the copied text in clipboard, just disappear, regardless if I keep the phone on or I restart it.

With my old Android 9 phone, I had all the copied text always available in clipboard, until I manually deleted it.
It might be your device well being, being efficient and keeping your device optimized. I never really use clipboard save for the frequent copy and paste. Never used it to copy for the entire day. You can try turning down your device wellbeing and see if that is the issue or not.

Google backup now button is grayed out

do you mean the moto G7? what backup are you trying to do? google? phone? you also said your is working horribly. what is wrong? can you be more specific?

just remember that the more details you give us, the better we can help.
Yes, moto G7. Suppose to backup automatically but doesn't seem to be working. When I go to Settings to System to Backup, it says it's turned on. If I click onto Backup, it takes me to another window. Under the "Manage Storage" it says Backup by Google One. The toggle button is turned on. There is also a rectangular blue block which reads "back up now." When I click onto it that block turns grey and the toggle button turns grey.
When I'm checking anything on a news story, etc., whenever I click onto the window, instead of getting the second window with verbage, usually I get a white blank window. It may or may not stay white. Also, every time I hit something, it "tics." It use to be very quiet whenever I surfed around on the phone.

laptop to obd2 scanner convert

Thank You for the OBD Fusion link.
Am wanting a product that will do more than read and clear DTC codes. Such as do cylinder power balance, shut off fuel injectors, etc. Have never come across Google Play OBD apps that come close to doing these functions.
Time to spring for an OBD2 tablet I reckon.

Legacy Update, is now a thing

These days Linux and Nvidia are the bad relationship. If your GPU has Nvidia on it forget Linux entirely.

Odd how the turn tables...

I only use Linux on two machines. The one mentioned gaming rig that outright refused to accept my favorite OS which is Windows 7, plus gaming support no longer working on 7, and one Toshiba laptop that won't boot USB nor CD versions of Windows anymore. It boots Linux fine but not Windows. It came with Windows 8 so something's amiss there. It hardly ever gets use though due to wonky graphics issues as well as wonky wifi. It only works for a half hour then freezes. Just started doing that after a decade.

In the future, Linux might be used if only to maintain ability to browse the modern web and use YouTube, once Windows 7 no longer has third party hacks to maintain such support (Pale Moon and Legacy Update and other apps keep the few of us who love Windows 7 and Vista going for now). I just refuse to throw away tech just because it's old, especially when it often has more features than the new stuff.
