Lost all Contacts

Got it. If you can see your contacts at contacts.google.com, then they’re still saved in your Google account — you just need to get them syncing properly back to your Pixel 6.
Here’s how you can fix it step by step:
1. Make sure Google Contacts sync is turned on
On your Pixel 6, open Settings.
Go to Passwords & accounts (sometimes just “Accounts”).
Tap your Google account (the same one you use on contacts.google.com).
Select Account sync.
Make sure Contacts is switched ON. If it already is, toggle it off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) and hit Sync now.
2. Clear Contacts storage and resync
If step 1 doesn’t refresh them:
Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps.
Find and tap Contacts.
Tap Storage & cache > Clear storage (don’t worry, this just clears the local database, not your Google account).
Restart your phone.
Force a Sync now again (as in Step 1).
3. Restore deleted contacts (if you actually deleted them)
Google keeps backups of deleted contacts for 30 days:
On your PC, go to Google Contacts.
Click the Settings gear ⚙️ > Undo changes.
Choose a time (e.g., “10 minutes ago,” “1 week ago,” or a custom date within 30 days).
Click Undo.
After this, sync again on your phone.
4. Import them manually (if sync still won’t work)
Since you can see them on your PC, you can export and re-import:
On contacts.google.com, click the Export option (left menu).
Choose Google CSV format.
On your Pixel 6, go to Contacts app > Fix & manage > Import from file.
Select the CSV file you exported.
This will bring them directly into your phone’s local contacts.
Hope this will be your help.

1.43 inches is bigger than 40mm? ‍‍

Well the rumour mill was correct: they just announced the Venu 4, which seems to have a lot of added fitness features, multi-band GPS, and the LED flashlight they've previously kept for higher-priced devices.

Might have bought this if they'd released it 7 weeks earlier. But it's also very similar to the Forerunner 570, both in price and features, and I decided not to buy that one, so maybe I wouldn't have. I think on balance I did better by getting the F165 when I did, since I've been using it pretty intensively since then (took up running again, for the first time in decades).

Mandatory Anti-Drunk-Driving Tech is coming

Back in junior high school i learned that there was a country that came up with a very cost effective way to deal with drunk drivers
Execution :D. Drinking and driving became a capital offense and sometimes executions were done during the traffic stop .
Drunk driving incidents basically vanished, things like designated drivers, cutting people off, drinking at places closer to where you liked became pretty popular

Bummer news for Nova Launcher fans

Sadly it's now being reported that not only has the team been laid-off but Kevin has left, and also been instructed to stop working on open-sourcing Nova (it was apparently part of the original purchase deal that it would be open-sourced if he left, but it sounds like that agreement was worthless in practice).

So right now it's working fine, and I have no immediate plans to switch. But presumably it's only a matter of time until some Android update will break features and eventually the whole app. Of course that may be many years from now: I have apps that haven't been updated for 10-15 years that still work, but they are much simpler and will have many fewer dependencies than Nova, so I'm not expecting it will last that long.

Another walmart problem

contact? just g
Apparently they are out of the particular product. She wants an exact replacement. Why is it that difficult to contact walmart?
have her go into a store. if they do not have it, they should be able to order her one. if they can't order it, then just have her ask for a full refund. i worked in retail management for almost 10 years so i know how returns work for these brick and mortar stores.

Keriug Coffee

The Boss Lady bought me one for Christmas in like 2020. We've about settled in with the Walmart's "Great Value" coffee. She likes the medium roast and I like the dark roast.

I've got a set of the refillable pods and I'm thinking that I've got a bag of Cafe Bustelo that I need to use. I've been making mine into iced coffee because of my top plate and am missing out on the coffee punch.
