Android Studio err: "an error occurred while trying to compute required packages"!

what were you doing when this error occured? why did you uninstall android studios and re-iinstall it? were you getting a different error?

just remember the more info you give us, the better we can help.

I was in the process of installing Android Studio from the .exe file on the "bin" folder I extracted from the package I downloaded, the first error I got was "Unable to access Android SDK add-on list". After that, I got another err "you must download the necessary components".

After setting the directory location for the files to be downloaded, I received this error. Though the error exist, I can still press "finish" and moved forward.
However, when I want to create a new project I get a "Your Android SDK is missing" err (I have the sdk commandlines downloaded but don't know where to put them!!).

Finally, when I open sdk manager, I get "Android sdk location can't be at the filesystem root" err.

I uninstalled Android Studio because I couldn't find a way to attach Android documentation to a project I was working on (which should be attached by default!!). An internet answer guided me to reinstall the software and download all the recommended tools (which apparently didn't go well).

I hope that was explanatory enough. Thanks in advance for your help :)

Differences between Google Store purchased Google Pixel 6 Pro versus a T Mobile Google Pixel 6 Pro

My understanding is there isn't really a technical difference. You may get carrier locked if there is a subsidy from T-Mo, but other than that I think they are pure Google. I was chatting with a buddy in the know about the same thing, but VZW vs. Google.
^ correct. The Verizon models are slightly different to support different frequencies if I'm remembering correctly, but the unlocked model from the Google Store and the one sold by T-Mobile should be identical.

Pubg lag on s10 plus

Pubg seems to lag on my exynos Samsung s10 plus. It drops a lot of frames and is very laggy. My previous OnePlus 5 used to run the game like a champ. This one seems to suffer . Anyone with a similar issue ? Please let me know any fixes
It might be happening because of the low specification. But you can follow these tweaks to fix the issue:
  • Clear the cache and data of PUBG Mobile
  • Optimize your device - use a good internet network, disable battery and data saver mode for PUBG Mobile, avoid playing games while on charging.
  • Use GFX Tool
  • Sop apps running in the background
  • Reinstall the PUBG Mobile app

Root XT1952-T does not show "bad key" or "N/A"

Sorry for the late reply, but I will definitely try this sometime, though I do not know how to get on the Beta version of Magisk, do you know? Either way, thank you for the help, I did not actually know this issue of v23.0 of Magisk existing on G7 Play.

How long andoid updates work?

There's no hard and fast rule: it varies between manufacturer and for most manufacturers it also depends on the model (typically higher-end models getting longer support than lower-end ones). If you tell us which phone you have we can probably look it up

But frankly a 2018 phone is almost certainly already out of updates - Google devices prior to the Pixel 6 would get 3 major updates, and some recent Samsungs too, but I can't think of any other Android manufacturer (apart perhaps from niche brands like Fairphone) who offer similar support periods. And Xiaomi's Redmi phones are not noted for long or speedy software support. According to GSMArena's database the Redmi 7 (the forum we are in) received an update from Android 9 to Android 10, but that's all. But that device is also listed as a 2019 model, so I'm not sure whether it's the model you have. Either way it's really, really unlikely that you're still getting updates on that phone.

Accessing media files in arbitrary directories on external storage

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Android development, and need a little guidance.

Media Files access is listed on Google Support as an invalid use case, that won't be allowed to have
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.

Instead, one should use the MediaStore API.
This seems to provide image metadata through MediaStore.Images.ImageColumns.

Also, it seems to me that the MediaStore API limited to files in quite specific directories, and the directory where the files are stored is not part of those metadata.

In my understanding then, this will be problematic if I want to access media files in other directories.

As an example: I store thousands of pictures taken with an SLR in custom directories on my SD card. And the underlying directory structure is related to the context in which the pictures were taken.

So my question is: Which mechanism should I use to access media files in arbitrary directories on an SD card?

What is mandrillapp?

I know this is an old thread, but still of interest. I was also reluctant to follow the link, and my security suite warned me that it might be a scam. I also did a bit of searching, since it seemed the forum was legit, and found one or two things that reassured me, especially this thread.

However, I wonder if some kind of compromise might work. A friendly line in the email explaining that you use mandrillap to manage membership email lists or whatever might help (I know scammers do similar things, but they're usually badly worded or in broken English). Or - does it work to go directly to this forum, as Bruno said:

I just hit delete on the email client, fire up my browser manually and go to androidforums.com where the alerts send me straight to the thread.

If so, and you don't lose out somehow with your account management, maybe just put that instruction into the email as well as an alternative. I understand it might have helped you gain members, but I'm pretty sure you must have lost quite a few, especially given the number of tech newbies who will be trying to find help on Android use.

Help Are there any current-spec Android phones under 5.7" in size?

The iPhone mini, as device, ROCKS. I do not understand why OnePlus or Sony doesn't just make an android phone of the exact same physical dims. Everything about it rocks. The squared off edges. The thickness. The overall size.

I ended up , in the end, with a Sony Xperia 5-III.

It is simply the smallest current spec android phone I could find.

It sucks.

Why?
  • Because it is too darn long/tall.
  • Because the rounded edges make it slippery
  • It is too big for my pockets (If I put my feet up, the phone falls on the ground)
  • I can't make the funny side fingerprint reader function well

But it is the best I can do right now, and I am sick of trying different phones every week. It even takes an SD card. So I now have a current spec android phone that is as small as I can find. (Of course, it lacks the 5G band my wireless carrier, AT&T, uses, so I have a brand new phone, in an area with lots of 5G towers, but do not have 5G on my phone. @#$@#)

If I could have migrated my signal database to iPhone, I would be on the iPhone mini even though I hate being an Apple slave("customer").

It is a total joke that that Android sphere can't offer something small.

How can I instert data to my ContentProvider from Rest API once?

I want to make a caller id app which detects incoming call, searches database, if user exist and shows user in screen with dialog or by changing phone lookup. So I found 2 ways to do that. First, I created a BroadcastReceiver with incoming call intent and I showed a dialog when there is an incoming call. It worked good but sometimes my onreceive method didnt run (I tried everything to solve that but didnt solve it). So I tried to find new ways to do that and I find Content Provider. . In ContentProvider, I want to insert data from my Rest API to my Content Provider. Is it possible? When I search it I found sync adapters but I don't know what is it and I don't know can I do what I want with that. I am beginner in Android and I don't know where should I do that process. I would be glad if you could guide me.

I started from this example and I want to add on it.(https://medium.com/@jmichaelis/android-your-users-as-caller-id-d446a58d9305)
