say BYE BYE to 3G in the US

Yeh, so it can accept contactless and smart-phone payments, and I guess to remotely report stock levels and sales, price changes, any faults, incidents of vandalism, etc. There's a machine in the village, that vends condoms and other things of that ilk, I don't know how often it's used or attended to by the company, but it's got a cellular antenna on top of it.

There's also things like ATMs, ticket machines, bike and car charging kiosks, package pickup and drop-off points, that all use cellular data. Back in the day ATMs used to rely on hard-wired leased lines or POTS phone lines.
ahhhhh yes credit card payments, forgot about those.....lol

Running Android emulator on WSL-2

Running without hw acceleration:

C:\Users\mlwp\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\emulator> .\emulator.exe -avd Pixel_C_API_30 -no-accel -show-kernel

Running on the command line with hw accel I see "failed to initialize WHPX: Invalid argument"

Wont let me upload image

Converted my website to an app. Put in tbe permissions to read and write.
Verified the permissions allowed files & media but when i click upload or browse in my app nothing happens. I load the website on chrome and try and it works no problem. Any assistance is appreciated.

I'm not a dev of course, but I think we need to know how exactly and what methods and tools you used to convert a website into an app?? in order to provide any meaningful assistance to you.

Skin Mediaplayer

I need a popup video mediaplayer that I can place in an image.

Picture a t.v or movie screen with the mediaplayer as the screen.

I'm thinking of using an image with a transparent region where the video will show.

I want to make a nice skin as opposed to a simple black rectangle.

If anyone can give me an example or point me to one, I would be grateful.

Thank you?

Help How to know if remote erase worked? (Android Device Manager)

Correct, IMEI blacklist won't affect data on the phone - it might actually prevent the phone receiving the wipe command if it can't connect.

Of course if the phone hasn't come back online in a day or so there's a good chance it isn't going to, so at some point I would get it blacklisted anyway. But I don't know how persistent Google's remote wipe or lock is: you'd hope that it would be triggered when that device connects to the Google account whenever that happens, rather than timing out after a few weeks or months, but I've never tested it and am not aware of Google making the technical details public (I wouldn't do so if I were them).

If someone has reset it to try to get past your screen lock they will have done the data wipe for you (and locked themself out via FRP).

Does anyone know what this notification icon is?

The thing is that it's vaguely familiar, but I couldn't place it nor could a reverse image search. It gives me a bit of a "shield" vibe, so my thought was firewall/security/ad-blocker, but searching those categories didn't come up with it.

As Brian says, 99% of these queries are someone concerned about a dating app on a partner's phone, and there's nothing about the design to suggest that.

Filtering Google Play apps by permissions

If you are concerned about privacy, then Google is not your friend.

Period.

Not just permissions, but the apps themselves need to be disabled/uninstalled.

New permissions can be added to any app at any update.

Many apps rely upon the permissions of other apps, especially if permissions are denied in the apps in question.

As far as I know, at least with Android 9 & 10, when you enter the permissions area of an app, there is an option to see all the other apps that have the same permission(s).

Another way is if you know what permission(s) you are looking for is to try this app:
