Remove icon

When an app is installed, an icon appears on a screen. Not sure what this screen is called, so I will call it "Screen App"
I have added an apps' icon to my home screen.
How can I remove the icon from "Screen App"

Hope this makes sense
Do you mean the "app drawer": an screen (or, usually, several screens) of apps which you bring up by either touching an icon in the dock or swiping up from the dock (depending on Android version and/or your particular setup)? Most people would leave an app there even if it is on their homescreen: the point of the app drawer is a place where you can find all of your apps, rather than just the more important ones which you might put on your homescreen. But as said above, if you really don't want it in both places you can install and use an alternative "launcher".

The launcher is the app that provides your home screens and the app drawer. Most people probably just use the one that comes with the phone, and many probably don't even realise that there is an app producing these screens and think they are part of Android itself (in fact most manufacturers use their own launcher app, so this is one of the things that is least standardised between different phones). But there are many alternatives out there with different features and options, and one option that many of them have is the ability to hide an app from the app drawer. I also use Nova, which has that ability, but so do many others. So you can do this, but you may have to install a replacement app and then set your desktops up again.

Carriage return verse post

I sometimes use Gboard as well as Swiftkey, and in the YouTube app etc, when entering text, e.g. for YT comments, For me pressing Carriage Return always gives me a new line, like for starting a new paragraph, and it's always been the same on various Android devices I've had. My YT comments won't post until I tap the blue arrow in the YT app. And is same with any app or browser for me.

So I don't really know what's gone wrong at your end, as to why tapping Carriage Return is apparently not working as it should. Somebody else may know?
Yeah see for both Facebook and Patreon there is no button to bust to post the comment it's just a text box and when you hit enter it posts the post. But on laptop holding down Shift when I hit Enter will over ride the posting and put the cursor to the next line.

In fact I just found this video this is exactly what I want to do on the tablet but I tried this and it does not work unlike when I use it on my lapto.

Patron is just like this also facebook comments same thing no post button so enter is for posting what you typed unless you use Shift Enter to get new link. But how to do this on tablet???

Help I cant turn on wifi after i root (realme 6)

Rooting does not prevent turning off WiFi, so you must have messed something up (possibly using root privileges to do so, or maybe during the rooting process). Therefore as @ocnbrze says we need to know what you actually did in order to help you.

In fact I'd add one further request: don't just tell us which guide or video you followed, tell us what you actually did. Because if you skipped a step, or used a different file (e.g. a custom recovery intended for a different model) then the guide you used won't tell us that and so we still won't be able to guess what went wrong.

If we can't figure it out then your solution will be to completely reflash the whole device with stock software. This will undo the rooting, but should also undo any mistakes. How you do this depends on what device you have. Of course if you used a custom recovery (the correct one for your device) and took a backup with it before you actually rooted the ROM then you could just restore that backup (any competent guide should tell you to make the backup before modifying the ROM, but it's amazing how many rooting guides fail to do this). Again that would remove root, but you'd still have your recovery so would have less to do if you wanted to try again.

Wi-Fi keeps stopping/starting

ok i might have an idea for you, go into wifi in settings and you should see my 3 dots at the top, click that and hit more or whatever the menu says there, you could have a wifi sleep setting on, if you can't find the menu then just go to settings and search for wifi or wifi settings, then every wifi setting should be listed, also you can enable developer mode, to to about phone click on software version i think, hit it like 5 times, if that isn't it then one of those Wil be it, but i belive it will definitely be a software version button that will enable it, then find your developer mode, towards the bottom look for networking and find wifi logging, turn it on, and then you will see exactly what is causing your disconnect problems

and finally it could be a problem with your phone thinking that the wifi networks are unsafe and it's kicking you off to protect your privacy, if so then search in settings for wifi trusted networks or anything to with that, hopefully one of those steps gets your phone to stay connected

Yeah, I know what you are saying here, but this device has none of that- all of my old devices do, and I found it very strange that this one does not.

Whatever this stupid Motorola app called Wi-Fi Manager is, it needs Google Play Services to be on- regardless if Google Play Services is blocked from the internet, or if it is reduced to its lowest level (both are true).

This tells me that it does not truely 'need' Google Play Services in order for the device to function, It is mearly a way for Google to try to ensure that the worst app of theirs remains active on the device.

Anyone that believes that Google is NOT nefarious can feel free to explain that one to me.

This is a perfect example of exactly why I disabled everything Google and refused to even put a Google account on the device in the first place.

It is funny because apart from this, the device is quite nice, in fact the best device I have owned to date.
It is nothing really special, but it does run rings around what I have used before.

Help Using SwiftKey Keyboard with WPS Office

I have both these apps installed on my Lenovo Yoga Tab 3. When I launch WPS Office the 'standard' keyboard appears and works OK. Nevertheless, I thought I might try using SwiftKey keyboard instead - but I can see no way of using it to input text to a WPS document. What am I missing? (And is it worth doing, anyhow?).

I don't know the Lenovo Yoga, but this is WPS Office on my Samsung phone.

There's a keyboard icon at the bottom right, and that's used to select keyboards, like Gboard, Swiftkey, Samsung keyboard, etc. My previous Huawei phone, the keyboard was selected by pulling down the notification bar.

A Sweeter Suite

I've found a replacement for WPS Office Suite, so I'll be moving on. My new enthusiasm is Office: TextMaker. Here are just a few of its attractions for me:
  • Total control of which fonts are listed in the pull-down: only the system fonrs you want to see, plus any you add to a folder,
  • A choice of toolbar layouts, including one just like LibreOffice, which I've used for years. Which icons are in the toolbars is also selectable, Actually, the whole program is a lot like LibreOffice.
  • Ability to define styles and create templates,
  • A complete PDF user's manual,
WPS Office Suite probably provides some of the above, but I wasn't able to find them.

Recover data photo video from a dead water damaged android phone

@puppykickr bro thanks for replying so fast.... Yes that's what I was thinking that old chip on the mainboard will not get data on the new mainboard...

Is there any device or company system device which can put the mobile chip on the device and extract the data back without soldering it back to new board as it may risk the new board to... As there are many profesional data recovery companies may get data from direct chip only

FYI it's called chip-off forensic data recovery, and there are companies that specialise in it, DriveSavers is one.
https://drivesaversdatarecovery.com
Very specialised and can be rather expensive. It's what the feds can use to recover evidence data from suspects' phones that have been destroyed.

sdcardbackup folder invisible in internal storage folder

Ditch My Files.

The stock utility apps are there to get you by until you find something better.

Personally, I use Simple Mobile Tools to replace all stock utility apps.

Not only are they easier to use than the stock apps, they do so much more that you will wonder why THEY are not the stock apps built into every device.

Here is a series of links, showing what Simple Mobile Tools is about- and the otgers are kinks to the individual apps that will help you out with this immediate issue.

The apps work seemlessly together.

Sorry if this post sounds like a sales ploy, lol.
I gain nothing from promoting the developer's work, I just think that the apps are great.

ColorNote to PC, PC to ColorNote?

steps start here:

install android studio

IMPORTANT! : allow usb debugging on phone

go to the sdk/platform-tools folder

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools

run cmd inside it (click the path, type “cmd” and hit enter)

run command “adb devices -l” there (inside cmd)

see your device

inside cmd inside the platform-tools folder. Example output:

adb devices -l

List of devices attached

29c5d264 device product:BEST_PRODUCT model:FBEST_MODEL device:BEST_DEVICE transport_id:1

run in cmd:
adb backup -noapk com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note

on your phone the message asking about backup and the password for it, appeared. do not set password, to not have problems, just push “backup” button

got the backup.ab file appeared in the directory of platform-tools

install git for windows on the pc

open git bash inside platform-tools folder

run this command

dd if=backup.ab bs=24 skip=1|openssl zlib -d > backup.tar

backup.tar appeared inside “…/platform-tools” folder

install 7zip

extract backup.tar to the folder C:\Users\NameOfUser\Desktop\backup\

got colornote.db file inside here C:\Users\NameOfUser\Desktop\backup\apps\com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note\db\

install sqlitebrowser

switched to the 'Browse Data' tab, and changed the table to "notes"

see your notes,

go to “execute sql” tab

enter following:

CREATE TABLE new_table AS select datetime(created_date/1000,'unixepoch', 'localtime'),datetime(modified_date/1000,'unixepoch', 'localtime'),note from notes order by _id

run it

switched to the 'Browse Data' tab, and changed the table to "new_table"

notes are there, but if you export it to csv (from file menu) it does not display Unicode chars

for it to display Unicode properly you need to:

open it in notepad, see abracadabra, select “save as”, and in the saving menu choose “UTF-8 with BOM” instead of whatever you have there.

Voila, you can read your Unicode notes

Email notification badge count incorrect

Her first was the pixel 2.
She's like me and keeps her gear until it starts causing issues, so when it started acting up, she jumped to pixel 4.

Helping her set it up was the only time I've played around with it, but I was generally pleased since she doesn't do much with 3rd party apps.

I follow the pixel threads too.

It's looking like we'll both be facing decisions soon.

I'm with Verizon and their choices of phones isn't what it used to be. Their main selections are I-Phones & Samsung, with remaining LG's, Pixels, Motorola's, and isolated brands. I may have to look at a new carrier also.

phone always duplicates photos by email

my email provider is GOOGLE (gmail).
i wanted to get away from google based apps on my phone, so I'm trying to alternate email apps: BlueMail and Spark. They both double the images and send duplicates. The Google (gmail) app does not duplicate the pictures.
thanks.
i don't think it is your phone, so nothing in your phone settings will help. you can try wipe cache and data for the other email apps and see if that helps.....or try another email app.
