A Sweeter Suite

I've found a replacement for WPS Office Suite, so I'll be moving on. My new enthusiasm is Office: TextMaker. Here are just a few of its attractions for me:
  • Total control of which fonts are listed in the pull-down: only the system fonrs you want to see, plus any you add to a folder,
  • A choice of toolbar layouts, including one just like LibreOffice, which I've used for years. Which icons are in the toolbars is also selectable, Actually, the whole program is a lot like LibreOffice.
  • Ability to define styles and create templates,
  • A complete PDF user's manual,
WPS Office Suite probably provides some of the above, but I wasn't able to find them.

Personally, I use Simple Mobile Tools to replace all stock utility apps.

Not only are they easier to use than the stock apps, they do so much more that you will wonder why THEY are not the stock apps built into every device.

steps start here:



install android studio

IMPORTANT! : allow usb debugging on phone



go to the sdk/platform-tools folder

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools

run cmd inside it (click the path, type “cmd” and hit enter)

run command “adb devices -l” there (inside cmd)

see your device

inside cmd inside the platform-tools folder. Example output:

adb devices -l

run in cmd:
adb backup -noapk com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note

on your phone the message asking about backup and the password for it, appeared. do not set password, to not have problems, just push “backup” button

got the backup.ab file appeared in the directory of platform-tools

install git for windows on the pc

open git bash inside platform-tools folder

run this command

dd if=backup.ab bs=24 skip=1|openssl zlib -d > backup.tar

backup.tar appeared inside “…/platform-tools” folder

install 7zip

extract backup.tar to the folder C:\Users\NameOfUser\Desktop\backup\

got colornote.db file inside here C:\Users\NameOfUser\Desktop\backup\apps\com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note\db\

install sqlitebrowser

switched to the 'Browse Data' tab, and changed the table to "notes"

see your notes,

go to “execute sql” tab

enter following:

CREATE TABLE new_table AS select datetime(created_date/1000,'unixepoch', 'localtime'),datetime(modified_date/1000,'unixepoch', 'localtime'),note from notes order by _id

run it

switched to the 'Browse Data' tab, and changed the table to "new_table"



notes are there, but if you export it to csv (from file menu) it does not display Unicode chars

for it to display Unicode properly you need to:

open it in notepad, see abracadabra, select “save as”, and in the saving menu choose “UTF-8 with BOM” instead of whatever you have there.

Voila, you can read your Unicode notes

I'm with Verizon and their choices of phones isn't what it used to be. Their main selections are I-Phones & Samsung, with remaining LG's, Pixels, Motorola's, and isolated brands. I may have to look at a new carrier also.

phone always duplicates photos by email

i don't think it is your phone, so nothing in your phone settings will help. you can try wipe cache and data for the other email apps and see if that helps.....or try another email app.

When you're running your phone in its Safe Mode, only the base Android operating system gets loaded into memory during the start up process. No third-party apps or services that typically get preloaded too are excluded. While in Safe Mode you'll notice most things you do are a bit sluggish when first used, as everything that typically gets preloaded into RAM is now starting up as a new process/service. If there is some third-party app you previously installed is interfering with your text messaging app in some way, it is less likely to be able to while in Safe Mode. The issue being, now there's a much more clear indicator that is the problem to address but no, Safe Mode isn't a magic way to specifically tell you what app is the source of the problem. You still need to deduce just what app you added before that's the problem.
Given the sporadic and random pattern of your description of the problem, I tend to doubt this is caused by another app but it's worth trying to eliminate the possibility it is. Using Safe Mode costs nothing and it's just a temporary thing to use as a diagnostic task.
You've referred to multiple phone restarting that occasionally and temporarily solves your problem but at some point realize that isn't a really practical fix. Restarting your phone is a good way to clear up something that's more of a one-off glitch, but it won't fix something like a corrupted settings file. That's still something you need to take care of in some kind of direct manner. The notifications issue 'could' be some setup matter in the Notifications menu in either the Settings menu or the text messaging app itself (more likely the phone's Settings menu than the app's Settings menu given you're tried different text messaging apps); the old and new messages not showing properly as bold and normal is likely to be a text messaging app matter but does that particular problem happen in all the text messaging apps you've tried? If yes that would indicate something with your text messaging service -- assuming you're using your cellular service phone number. If no, have you tried clearing the cache and/or data for whatever text messaging app you're using as your default? Note that clearing the app's data will wipe all its settings/options files, essentially returning it back to its original, first time used state so you'll have to set up the app from scratch again, and be sure backup up your text messages as you might have to restore them. This isn't as drastic as a Factory Reset as it's more targeted to just your text messaging service (with a Factory Reset you have to restore your phone's entire user account data, a more comprehensive matter.)

I saw an alert on my phone about some parts of SoCal getting CRAZY rain and thunder. I'm HOPING it comes to the lovely San Gabriel Valley!! We're breaking the law right now by running the sprinklers longer than allowed, so a nice drenching would be most welcome.

PS If anyone wants to know why *I*, a person who values honesty and ethics above all else, would be okay 'breaking the law' in this manner, I'll be happy to explain....

(i.e. photos as jpg, audio files as mp3, etc.) Of so, you might want to copy them to their appropriate folders on your Samsung phone, or use the import function on things like a browser app to add bookmarks. It's not going to be a seamless project since you're doing this all manually. SMS are likely to be the biggest problem. If you can extract your contacts from the HiSuite backup file as vcard(s) (.vcf) then you can import those into any contact manager, including copying to your phone and them importing them using your Contacts app. Other "docs" are probably just files you can copy onto the phone, as suggested here. SMS, however, don't have a "standard" backup format like vcard is for contacts: different backup tools use their own formats. So I guess the first step is to see whether you can read your SMS in HiSuite, and whether they can be exported from HiSuite and if so in what format. If you can do that then whether it's possible to get them onto the new phone is the next question.
