we get this question almost everyday. the problem is that there are millions upon millions of apps that are out there, each with their own notification icon. the easiest way to find out is to go thru the phone's notifications. but something tells me that this is not your phone. you can just ask the person what it is. unless the notification is from a popular app like youtube or facebook for example, these types of inquiries usually go unanswered.....but you might get lucky and someone here might recognize it.

Accessories Tempered Glass screen protector with Otterbox Defender?

Follow up-

I found both the Tech Armor Ballistic Glass 3D Curved Screen Protector Designed for Samsung Galaxy S21, and the LK Tempered Glass Screen Protectors, will work with the Otterbox Defender. I ended up going with the LK only because the Tech Armor screen protector has a "cut-out" for the fingerprint sensor. It's not a hole in the protector but there is a circle over the sensor that I found distracting. I don't use the fingerprint sensor to unlock my phone, so I wasn't worried about it preventing the sensor from working.

How do i backspace one character in Google Assistant

When I use the microphone for messaging in assistant I can't figure out how to backspace only one character. If I press the X in the little arrow box next to the microphone symbol during a message it deletes the entire word. I have to get out of microphone by pressing the back arrow next to Tap to speak to go back to the keyboard to delete one character. Is there a way of deleting only one character in a word while in assistant rather than the whole word? I have Android 6.0 and the newest Google Assistant.

Verizon android warranty or other warranty companies?

Once I learned that Best Buy's return window was a whopping 15 days, I never bought another thing from them. What if I purchased a gift that wouldn't even be opened in two weeks - and it turned out defective?

As far as extended warranties go, I recommend them. A lot of stuff is garbage these days, and it's good to have recourse. I actually renewed my Ford Explorer's extended warranty for another 50,000 miles because the first extended warranty more than paid for itself. We had a Samsung refrigerator that had to be repaired so many times under the extended warranty that the technician made Samsung buy it back. And they did: full price.

After being disgusted with Squaretrade's decision to eliminate human customer service interactions, I canceled all my Squaretrade warranties and got Asurion Home. It's $25/month but it covers every electronic gadget in the house, no matter how old it is. That's some peace of mind right there.

Doesn't turn on

HI. Sorry to invoke this old thread. I have a S6 Edge with the exact same issue. . Just wanted to know if you found a solution.
I download the correct firmware and pit file.. Odin shows pass. but phone doesnt boot otherwise. Only into Download mode. I suspect the knox warranty has somethin to do with this ?
why do you suspect knox? is the phone rooted? can you post a screenshot of the odin's complete output?

My God, so much spam via SMS

Wow - we get the odd spam text this side of the pond, but at least they are bulk texts rather than group texts (so you don't receive replies from other people). I suspect that's just because those are cheaper here (and maybe it's the other way round on your side, which is why you get group spam), though for phishing it would be an obvious give-away if you they were visibly sending the message to other people as well as you.

The old rule "never click on a link in an email" applies to texts too. Indeed I get the impression that the scammers are putting more effort into text scams at the moment.

BTW the big one here recently has been a two-stage scam: send a text claiming to be from a delivery company who, for whatever reason, require you to pay a fee to deliver/re-deliver a package. If someone falls for it, the next day you contact them pretending to be their bank (they now know which bank, after all), inform them that you've seen a suspicious transaction (the small fee they paid), confirm to them that this was a scam, tell them that their account is vulnerable, that others have had their accounts cleaned-out, and try to scare them into "temporarily" transferring their funds into a "safe" account while the bank's security team sorts it out...

Activating an eSIM in an already personalized phone without factory reset?

That's the interpretation of denial. The way he used the if indicates that he doubted it -- that pretty clear.

When their wishes are not consistent with reality, it's usually the reality that has to go. And that in itself accelerates the process of decline. which makes very hard for them to accept that they are not different tan any other dominant civilization.

re-use workmanager instance between multiple unit tests

Hello,

Is there any way i can re-use an existing workmanager for application instances created by multiple tests?.

My issue:
i have multiple unit tests, my first test runs succesfully, next time onwards i face below error.

W/eSync: Can not re-initialize work manager, Robolectric problem?
2021-07-02T19:40:08.323+0530 [DEBUG] [TestEventLogger] java.lang.IllegalStateException: WorkManager is already initialized. Did you try to initialize it manually without disabling WorkManagerInitializer? See WorkManager#initialize(Context, Configuration) or the class level Javadoc for more information.
so can i use re-use an existing workmanager (created during first unit test) for application instances created by multiple tests?

i tried to old work manager instance, that time work manager state is illegalStateException

Help Strange Rotation Sensor behavior

I still don't know anything about the OPs headset of course. Like is it ACTIVE, like a Gear VR and with it's own displays, processing, and connects to the phone, or PASSIVE, like a Google Cardboard, that relies totally on the phone for all VR display and processing.

FWIW the VR headset I use is completely passive, it's only fabric covered cardboard with two lenses, and I slot the phone in it.

No Cell service following Update

I accepted the pushed update last night and all seemed fine following. This morning I sent a couple of texts only to receive a message that they were pending being sent. I thought nothing about it until my son called my wife asking if all was okay on our end. He had text and called my phone with no response. I checked my phone and my texts were still pending and then I noticed I had no cell service. I had internet service but that was through my local network. I rebooted the phone with zero resolve. I then put my phone into airplane mode and then took it out of airplane mode. A flood of texts flowed in and a number of missed calls and voice mail.
I don't know why the update messed up my phone but the fix was easy enough. I hope my phone was an isolated case but if not... switching to airplane mode and back is the fix.
thank for posting your solution. probably was a glitch in the installation of the update. i'm glad it resolved itself.
Hello, I just did this for my A32 5G & its still telling me the phone is not registered to the network. Very similar situation as wit yours, except I ended up doing a factory reset & the issue still was not resolved. I bought this phone only a few weeks ago & it was working fine up until this morning.
lets discuss your issue in your own thread. its better to have one conversation vs spreading the conversation all over the place.

Motion activated super slow-mo video capture

Have you tried placing an unobtrusive object somewhere within the same range that the camera will focus on?

A stick in the ground, a stick hung from an overhead branch, or even something local that appears totally natural (a whole branch, a bird's nest, etc.) should give the camera something to concentrate on at a particular distance.

Or, perhaps there is a setting in the camera app that allows you to turn off the auto-focus altogether- so that you can set the focus where you want it to be and it should not change.

Find lost phone

A funny thing happened in email. I was checking spam just in case of phone alerts and there was a message about somebody getting into his facebook account with an apple phone. As far as I know he has no such account or at least he doesn't use it and no way apple.

Phishing spam!
Do not answer that e-mail!

Plus, your friend seems like the type that should live close to a payphone.

How to get notifications to ear buds

It it working as desired, or not?
If not, it is most likely a setting in whatever media app you are using at the time.

For instance, BlackPlayer (a music player) has an audio setting called 'focus'.
This is where you can adjust the response to notifications while listening to music through the app.
I figured it out. With Samsung ear buds my phone could be on silent or vibrate and I could get notifications through my ear buds. With the new ones my phone can not be on silent or vibrate.
