did that as well. i already enable contact sync in the setting. but it didnt work.

Have you changed the battery optimization setting?
It should be off for anything you want to continuously run.

Also, you can try pinning the app in your recents.

Try the battery optimization first.

I have 0 experience with iphone.

In your case, it would be like working for GM and driving a Ford to work.

I bet Goggle has a way to make it work for them and not for you.

Maybe your best bet is to delete the work profile, leave your Google account on the device, tie your work G-mail to your normal G-mail, and open developers options to activate stay awake.

Bring the device to work, plug it into a charger, and see what happens.

Actually diving even further in the issue..when I got my Note4..its ok Google was broken, maybe outdated but it didn't wanna update and was giving me that "offline" feedback..no matter what I did nothing..then I did the trick I just shared with you all..and bingo!!!..it took me not just what ever 10 minutes to adjust the issue..but rather a few hours..why:

Here's why..always 99% of the times when there's an Android issue is Google play services or Google play store related..that being said now you all get the picture..

So what I came up was a very calculated risk (just like my very good friend @MrJavi says)..and a very very very thought process that at the end came back so brilliant (not trying to sound narcissistic)..and this is something I previously shared as well..I put a companion to dwell together with the Google play store & downgraded the Google play services..then downgraded my ok Google..

All of this together solved all my problems..the ok Google, the Google play store updating with out my permission, no more Google play for instant apps creeping up in my system any more, no bogus checking in by it self of the "find my device"..and the list could go on and on and on..

Any way, just saying..who ever wants to read and follow..who ever doesn't..

Just pulled out an old (SM T530NU android 5) Samsung, reset it, and had the same need...

The default settings are not accessible in this tablet, so, what I had to do was take a picture, then find it with a file manager, then set it to google photos and "always" I assume that will be necessary on all media files.

Since I have still not been asked to return my Galaxy S20 Ultra for trade-in yet, I have compared the 3DMark Wild Life scores on it with the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Both phones are identically set up and running the latest stock, unbranded, Samsung firmware for CSC code BTU, (U.K.). S20 Ultra = CUA8. S21 Ultra = AUAC

It's likely that the OS is suspending your app when it's in the background. Maybe consider caching the current state to storage when your app loses focus? That would allow you to pick up where you left off.
