Help Issues with GPS mapping. 'Sometimes'.

So, ever since I moved to Montana(1.5yrs ago) I have had issues with my phones(s) and GPS maps. (Google Maps, Sygic, OSMand+, etc.)

Now one's first assumption would be a hardware issue with the phone. However, this issue is seen with 2 different phones, 2 different ver. of Android. (8 & 10).

I have cycled airplane mode, data, turned on/off high accuracy, cleared AGPS data and re-downloaded, checked and applied any updates, even factory reset phone.

I have downloaded several apps to test gps and to see what satellites are in view. They'll see the satellites but won't connect, sometimes...

...I live in rural MT with very little obstruction while I have done testing/troubleshooting to get it to work.

Now, the issue is only sometimes. Sometimes I can get in my truck and before I even get off my property, its locked onto 15-20 satellites. And will stay that way all the while I am out. Some days it won't lock onto a single sat. I can try over a drive of 20-30 miles and it'll never lock. I even bought a new phone recently and the problem happens with the new phone too.

The only common I can find with the phones is they are both Androids(so an android problem) and they have both been used in Montana(I live in some floating, roaming black gps-hole that floats by on some days) :)

I am pretty good with tech and following tutorials for trouble shooting and what-not but this has be stumped/pissed.
I use by phone for GPS every time I leave the house. Its important I have it working. Any help would be great.
Thanks everyone!

What Magisk Modules are you using on your Android 11?

Looking for some best magisk modules that you guys are using on your Android 11. Not looking for those that you find when you search best magisk modules on Google or something similar. I need something different.

PS: I found some dope magisk modules from Google:

It includes:

1. Advanced Charging Controller
2. G Visual Mod (I really like its round UI mod and notch killer feature)
3. WebView Switcher
4. Fullscreen Gestures
5. Tethering Enabler
6. WiFi Bonding

(Not sure if 5 and 6 works but I have them flashed)

I also included a link to a site where I found them. They have listed a few more than above but are common.

Screen stutters

Bixby gave me headaches. Reset everything again and left Bixby alone (for the time being). Reloaded all the apps again. Installed Google Drive on my the tablet, iPhone and iMac. Installed Google calendar & contacts on all 3. They're all playing well together. If it starts to stutter again, will see how far I can throw it.

Scanners won't read my phone

Quite frankly that sounds like a problem that the app's developer should fix ASAP. I have dark mode turned on with my Huawei, and most days scanners are scanning codes from my phone, like for Wechat or Alipay payments at shops or public transport, and never have any problem.
Agreed. It seems Ibotta has already. I didn't see any reports in their forums BUT it is working there now in dark mode. Stash, the other app, I opened a ticket.

Maximize app performance by increasing memory usage

Well contrary to the myths peddled by the snake oil salespeople who promote cleaner/booster/optimiser/battery saver apps, purging apps from memory does not save battery (it tends to do the opposite), so there's no conflict between what you ask for and that last objective ;).

However, unless you are rooted there is essentially nothing you can do. You could go into Developer Options (a menu you have to enable by tapping on the "build number" in the phone settings) and check that the "background process limit" hasn't been artificially restricted - but unless you have done it yourself using that menu it won't be, it will be set to the "standard limit". But that's basically all you can do.

If you are rooted, have a custom recovery (must be built for your phone) and someone has developed a custom kernel for your phone with a better RAM optimisation and which is compatible with the ROM you are using then you could install that. There may be a few kernel settings you can tweak with a suitable app (I had apps in the past that allowed you to adjust a few things, but I can no longer remember any names). But if you are not rooted or unable to root your phone, or there is no development for that model, then there's not a lot you can do.

asus zenpad 10 Z301MF setup wizard stopping and device locked

Thanks, ocnbrze - your conclusion is exactly the same as mine but .... I have, so far, enjoyed the challenge presented by this problem and (sadly) have become a bit ocd about solving it. For example, there MUST be a way to set USB debugging apart from the normal Settings app. I'm still optimistically exploring Asus flash tools. I can buy a second-hand tablet for £60 but then I would have to admit I can't fix this one. Foolish pride wastes time eh??
well if you can solve the usb debugging issue, please post your solution here. i have yet to come across for a solution for it.

[SOLVED] Is my battery on its last legs?

No kidding! :D

Funny thing, though: every morning, I unplug both phones when I first wake up. Later, like an hour or two, when I go to actually use the new one, its battery has dropped to ≈95%, while the Z² is still at 100%.

Nothing has changed on the old phone. I mean everything that was on it and/or running still is. It always was like this, i.e., having 100% charge while idle after being unplugged; it's usually several hours before that starts dropping.
No kidding, it is one amazing battery :)

Camera picture photo format

I've personally not met a stock camera app that has png as an option. Actually the alternative camera apps I've used haven't had that option either, but of course that doesn't mean that there aren't others out there that do.

Though to be honest it seems a slightly unusual request as I've never met a dedicated camera that stores images in that format: jpg, various raw formats and sometimes tiff, but never png.

I assume that the motivation is quality, and so you don't want to just convert jpg to png (which many apps on all platforms can do).

Best android app for reading and taking notes on ebooks using a stylus?

On adobe reader, there's a highlight option. I usually read a chapter, highlight the most important information, and then write it down on a paper notebook later. This is the only way to take notes using an e-book as far as I know. I'm going to buy a kindle oasis and I hope there will initially be an app with which I can read and take notes. By the way, which e-book do you use? Besides the kindle oasis, I'm also thinking about buying a kindle paperwhite. What do you think is the best e-book to buy? I will be happy to receive any suggestions on the kindle oasis vs paperwhite topic.
