Root [CDMA] Moto G Stock 4.4.4 and 5.1 Soak Tests {Boost Mobile}

Greetings: 40+ yrs in Elex and Confuser repair...so I am kinda behind on this newer stuff. I have XT1031 that went into bootloop and now won't get past the 1st splash screen. This notcto long after it asked for update, which I refused. It had 4.4.2. After the forced update it showed 4.4.4. Prior the "stuck on stupid" it was great from day 1. Around the update it got sliw and started locking up in app transitions and during typing messages. Last count of memory was 72%. I think this 1 is the 8G not the 16G. I went to a E2, which I hated, now on a E4, 1 week old to me. To new to evaluate. It seens much faster. But then they all do at 1st. Id like 2 repair my old G1. 5 years and not a scratch or glitch until the phantom update.

S20 Ultra vs. iPhone 11 Pro Max (Camera Comparison)

This is a pretty comprehensive comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max:

Based on these samples, I hate to say it, but video from the iPhone appears better to me. Photos from the devices are more of a tossup, with the S20 Ultra crushing in two specific departments: zoom photos and low light photos in ultra wide mode.

Here is a comparison of the low light photos in ultra wide:

It also appears to perform a lot better in the dark with the selfie camera using flash:

It also has selfie camera night mode which the iPhone 11 Pro Max lacks.

Ultimately SuperSaf concludes exactly what you might expect: there is no CLEAR winner. They're both great but have different strengths and weaknesses.

The clear win here for the Ultra is the zoom which is why many of us would buy the device in the first place. The clear loss for the Ultra seems to be in video stabilization and color in shadows.

Strange glitches

Are you by any chance using a third party launcher, or other apps such as calling apps, messaging apps, or any other that runs continuously?

I ask because on a low performance device there are some apps that use way too much power for such devices.

Case in point, I had a phone with 1GB of RAM, and I really liked Apex Launcher.

The phone had most if not all of the symptoms you describe, even if I got rid of almost all my user apps.

I later discovered that while Apex Laucher itsrlf only uses about 30MB of RAM, the Google Analytics built into it used a whopping 200MB of RAM all the time!

Together, that makes about 25% of the memory used.
Now add whatever the system needed to work.

No wonder that poor phone was acting up!

So, I ditched that launcher, and now look for apps that do not have Google Analytics built into them.

It makes the device much happier, I am much happier, and Google can get bent for all I care.

Strange security problem?

There may be a permission on the app itself, namely 'Download Files Without Notification'.

This is a particularly scary permission, as the name of it implies exactly what it can do.

This is a permission that can be used for both good and bad.

If the app has this permission, there is a possibility that you may be able to disable it in the phone's app settings for that app- but there may not be any control over it in the app settings within the app.

Help Wiko Fab 4G being picky about country?

Off the top of my head. Do you have roaming properly set up for your mobile contract? Have you tried the sim card in another phone to see what happens?
You could try to speak to your networks customer service. I don't think it's the case since any smartphone should be able to handle it, but there are also kind of frequency restrictions in India.(https://www.certification-india.com/en/wpc/what-is-wpc/)

Help Weird ads

Apperantly adguard no longer works since a recent update.

Just use NewPipe.
It is an alternative to Youtube.
It has all the content, and none of the ads (ads as part of content excepted).
It also allows background play and downloadng, which Youtube does not allow in its standard app.

NewPpe is free, and available on F-Droid.

It is importnt to keep it updated, as Youtube has been occasionally changing things that interfere with apps like NewPipe.

Charging problem with Samsung S2 Tablet

Something you may want to do is inspect the charging jack on the device itself.

These things are tiny, have even smaller contacts inside, and are always open to the environment.

Dust, debris, and whatever can get in there will make for bad/intermitant connections.

Be very, very careful if you attempt to clean the port, as the contacts can be easily damaged.

A wooden toothpick- with a due amount of care, can be used to fish out dust, lint, etc. from the jack.

It is also possible that a contact(s) has already been misaligned over time, so compare the jack to the same port on another working device.

Check your cord with another device.
I know that you have replaced the cord multiple times already, but the cord is almost always the problem.

Even the best cords wear out eventually.

In fact, I have the worst luck with the more expensive cables that are cloth wrapped.
It is not the cord itself that goes bad, mostly. It is the ends.
So when selecting cords, disregard the cable itself, and pay attention to the quality of the ends themselves, and how they attach to the cord.

I have had the cheapest cords work great, provided that the ends are durable and attached well.

On the other hand, I have spent good money on expensive cords that looked and felt very durable- just to have the ends fall off.

Right now I have a love affair with cords that I have purchased from Big Lots.
They are $8-$9 (depending on type) and are 10 foot long.
I have't had a failure yet and three of them are more than a year old.

iHome is the product name.

Lost my movie setup

Try VLC.
It is probably your best bet, and is also a full feature music player as well.

If it isn't quite right for you, then try X-Player.
It has most of the same features of VLC.

Both play almost any type of file and can also stream.

Or, you can figure out what app the file manager is trying to open the movies with.
Then go into:

Settings
Apps
Show All Apps
(find the app)
Open By Default
(clear all defaults)

The next time you select a movie, you will be asked what app to open it with, and whether or not to always use that app.

using metro pcs or t-mobile for internet

no this system uses a t-mobile sim card that you pay for. the youtube i watched said that doing it this way gets you online with about 40 mbps download and 25mbps up load and this radio is your modem to the cell phone t-mobile plan. and this is like 30 to 40$. it is just doing something he called a hot spot but instead of using your phone as the modem you use a device he called a kuwfi radio. and on using that radio you get better speed. at this time my wife has metro and gets 20mbps down and 15mbps up. but this system takes comcast or spectrum out of the plan as you just use the phone systems for your internet.

he show that he gets with that system. plus he talks about a plan called binge tv and i looked that up and they have tons of networks but i have not yet figured out if they are free or paid? if they are included in the t-mobile service then it can be a deal but if you have to pay for them, then it may not be as good as this guy claims.

thanks

What most on android want!

Able to have more then one screen, well these days most tablets screens can be seen in space, guessing it is that, or making the cellphone round.
Just a bit more circle anyways. Circle with apps yeah.. :) You can put it in your backpack or even something else in your hand. And added in a coolant agent inside cells too.

Blu Android Updates

I bought my Blu phone at Target specifically because it had dual SIM card capability so I could put my work line and home line on the same device. Although there were features that I liked, it was my first smartphone, there were problems almost from the start. The problems, see above, got worse over time, until the phone became unusable. Audacious to go through that government trouble, and still, after all the legal battles, still, incorporate malware at manufacture! Target stopped carrying Blu phones. Surprised Blu has not gone out of business yet.
