Multi Page Registration form using fragments

Hi im making a password manager in android studio and storing all the data using firebase. The issue im stuck on is creating the registration form. If i simply had one activity with all information on one page i would be able to set this up. However ive got too much infomation to register and it looks messy. So ive created a single activity and have three fragments. After each page the user will click continue until the final page where the user will sign up and all of the data from each fragment is sent to the database as one.

fragment 1 is responsible for user info e.g. name, email, phone number. fragment 2 is responsible for master password and fragment 3 is responsible for shared secret.

having not used fragments im abit lost with the whole process i know you can use interfaces or viewmodels to send data back to the activiy. But what would be the best approach be? ive initialy set up interfaces on each fragment but im unsure how to call these in the activity and then create a method which takes the information from each interface put it into one then send it the database.

Thanks for any help / ideas.

Facial Recognition?

Yeh, it wasn't intended to be funny.

I usually spend a lot of time in China, and the now that everyone there is legally required to wear masks covering mouth and nose, the facial recognition technology, used by phones for unlocking, and by police/public security for law enforcement etc, is having problems with it.

As for the problem with your Samsung S9, have you tried rebooting or resetting it?

It's a Note 9, and after rebooting yesterday it's working.

Reserve Your Pre-Order Now

yeah... I did the reserve pre-order thing for the S20 ultra t-mobile 512gb 16gb cosmic grey, and did the trade in for my Pixel 4 xl 600.00 trade in credit, and when I do the preorder I get 200.00 credit then another 35.00 for doing the reserve pre-order thing from what it said, so FEB 21st 7 days away:D:D:cool::cool:, so I`ll probably use the 235.00 for galaxy watch active 2!!

Damn! Sweet deal! If I didn't owe so much on wifes 4xl I would probably do that for her as well.

Ear Scout - Mic to Headphones

Thanks for letting me know that it works on on Android 10.
Android 7.1 still crashing will be investigated now.
The app will be updated regularly until it works seamlessly on all Android versions.
Your feedback is much appreciated.

Messaging at start up

Hey all.
I need to figure out how to stop messaging apps etc from updating old messages and showing that I have X-number of unread messages on my Zenpad?

Specifically.... Let's say I don't use my pad for 2 or 3 days. But today I turn it on. As it starts all my messaging apps such as: email, Facebook, text messages, etc etc show that there are unread messages.

So for example the icon will show that I have, let's say, 20 text messages. In fact I don't, but it's counting the 20 that were sent and opened/read on my cell phone since the last time I started my Zenpad up.. When I open the app they of course are not showing if I deleted a message or they don't show as unread. Which is good that it's not showing messages as unread once in the app but why is it seeing messages that are read our deleted as the app starts?

This doesn't happen in reverse. For example of I open a message on my Zenpad but then start my phone the apps on my phone so not reflect the opened messages that I looked at on the pad.

So I guess my question is how do I stop the apps from showing that I have unread messages?

Hopefully that wasn't confusing.

Apps Service not working when phone is idle / dozing / locked

Oh ok, just read about pinning. But from what I'm seeing, I'm pretty sure that's not the way to go (based on examples of other apps on the store). I'm quite confident that the solution is somewhere between a foregroundProcess and a partial wakelock (I've spent hours going through the android developer docs) however... I can't get it to work no matter what I try :(.

Have you tried using the screen saver to keep the screen from sleeping?
I know ths will eat battery life, but you can use a screen dimming app to negate quite a lot of that.

Ths is how I keep my sharing app active when transferring large files.

How to disable Bixby

By default when you press and hold the side button on your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip it will launch Bixby. You'll probably want to change the Bixby button to launch something else or disable Bixby completely. Don't worry- you can:
  • Settings > Advanced Features > Side Key
  • Find the "Press and Hold" area
  • Select "Power Off Menu" instead of "Wake Bixby (default)"
When you press and hold the side button you'll now be given power off and restart options for your Galaxy Z Flip. You cannot force the phone to launch an app by pressing and holding, but if you quickly press the side button twice you can have the Galaxy Z Flip open any app you'd like.

How to install SIM Card

If your Galaxy Z Flip did not come pre-installed with a SIM card than you may need to install one yourself (likely from your previous phone). The Galaxy Z Flip uses a nano-SIM card.

To install, unfold the phone's screen and access the SIM tray on the top left with the gold contacts facing down as shown in the image below. Make sure the device is fully charged.

App to take pictures and add an audio description?

I don't know of any app that would do this at the time the photos are taken.
I do know of a few that can do similar after the fact, like a post production edit, but the result in the end would actually be a video with your photos as a visual and your narration as the audio.

My current favorite is YouCut, by InShot.
It is free, easy to use, and does not put a watermark on your finished product.
