Google account backup vs Samsung account backup differences?

I have mentioned "If I lost my phone or if my phone is faulty for 60 days", I am preparing for worst case scenario. It is possible that I lose my phone and someone return it 60 days later and while searching for the phone I use an old spare phone S4 that I am unable to restore backup due android version too old. That guy in the example sold his phone and used an iphone for over 60 days and lost all backup when he wanted to use android phone again.

S10+ keeps randomly restarting, is there any way to find out what's causing it?

try putting the phone in safe mode and see if it is still happening. safe mode prevents 3rd party apps from running. it is just a troubleshooting tool. if it is still happening there, then i would for sure do a factory reset.

make sure you back things up using smart switch.

or as @mikedt suggested you can use smart switch to update your phone. you can't install firmware using smart switch, especially if your phone already has the latest update.

Listen..if you really like those S5's..and you want to stick with it..I would give it a go ahead..

I staid with my S5 for while..on a 3g(keep in mind that's what the phone says you are getting) but at the same time I heard..understand..and experienced that is ACTUALLY greater than 3g speed you will get..
Mine was a sprint used on tmobile then in cricket..when I tested it I was getting about 4g speeds(in cricket..because tmobile is the worse)..

You can stay with it..

In using the app, I realized I wanted to be able to have more timers displayed at a time, so I created a small timer layout to fit more into the notification. Here's the update with that feature- enjoy!

I really don't know how we've veered this far OT, @svim! I'm very familiar with router settings, and have security I defy anyone to breach.

As the highest paid [non-owner] employee at two consecutive companies, my security was legendary.

And in 35 years of computing, I have yet to encounter one intrusion, one virus, one malware, one privacy breach, etc.

I don't know why stating that I assign static IP addresses to the computers on my network turned me into an ignorant imbecile...

USB wont charge/ (sometimes)

Stop trying to charge the phone with your PC.

That is a very slow charge, that can barely build a charge if the phone is on.

Try using a wall charger.

Look at the mAh of the charge rate in your battery settings while it is charging.
If your device does not have this option, then get an app that does show this information.

While looking at this mAh number, change out your cords, trying each one of them.
This will let you see which ones are good and which ones are not.

CpuFloat is an excellent ad-free app for this.

Ampere (has ads) is another app that works as well.

If it had been a real Huawei nova 5 Pro, and not a cheap knock-off. It probably wouldn't have crapped out on you, and manufacturer support wouldn't have been a problem.

Thanks for the info.

I did get a refund for it and they didn't ask for it to be returned. And didn't actually fail/crap-out as you put it.
I simply just did a factory reset, as I mucked about with too many settings without knowing what they were for. And it didn't have the 'Mount System' option in the list where the Format and ADB options are..

I just bought another cos it is a good phone and less than £50, regardless of it being a fake clone of Huawei Nova 5, and I'm gonna see if I can simply use ADB to pull drivers off the working nowa5 , and sideload into the other.
I'm a complete novice to Android and Linux OS's, and letting me know about it being Linux has helped loads. Thanks.

I'm autistic, and enjoy learning and fixing things. So I see this as a fun little project.🤪

Microsoft cloud storage but have you considered downloading whats important to you and then deleting you account and uninstalling all Microsoft apps. Then change the rest of your passwords on your other accounts. Then you can choose a cload storage that provide 2 step verification and better security. If you have developer option enabled make sure usb debugging is turned off.
I would also recommend a factory reset but you will need your Google account password or youll be lock out of you android (FRP). I suggest writing the new password down on paper. It might be hard to remember the new recently changed password.

LGV30 Keypad tones fail to retrieve messages on MetroPCS

when I call in and enter my secret pin number to retrieve my messages, the message center simply does not respond to the tones created.
This is specific to MetroPCS, and this phone, (An LG V30) because I called another message service and the tones created by my keypad worked fine.
Also, when I used another phone, I was able to retrieve my messages using the tones created by my friend's phone.
Anyone know about this , or maybe have any advice?
So far I:
- Got MetroPCS to reset my voicemail. (Had to create a new greeting, and pin)
- Restarted the phone twice
- Turned on "Keypad sounds" to make sure the phone itself was generating the tones (It was)

No idea what's going on.Thanks!

Weather app using WU data?

I can't say what you have available in China, Mike. In the USA, there of thousands of personal weather stations that can and most are linked to Weather Underground. My weather station is made by Ambient Weather. I have it tied to WU so that I can check the weather here at my house when I'm working out of town. Olbriar's Place is the name of my station if you have a desire to see if it's raining here or not :)
