Given that it's the US carriers who are the reason US Notes are locked down hard, I think it's unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

I just hope that when the last CDMA networks are turned off and Samsung start using Exynos in the US(*) they don't use that as a reason to lock everyone else's bootloaders equally hard.

(*) The reason you get Snapdragon SoCs is because it's cheaper for Samsung to use Qualcomm's chips than to license their CDMA IP. Most of the world doesn't use CDMA, so we get Samsung's own chips, which is more profitable for Samsung. So once the North American CDMA networks are turned-off it's pretty obvious that Samsung will switch to Exynos there as well.

I'm always amazed when I read comments on the internet like "man, that new Exynos is falling behind yet again. When are Samsung going to stop this and give us Snapdragon as well?". As if Samsung (or any corporation) care about delivering what a few knowledgeable enthusiasts want rather than what makes most money from the masses?

Bigpond on gmail in windows 10

Depending on how Telstra has authentication setup, sometimes for a mail client like the gmail app you need only your user name and password, but for webmail (chrome on Windows 10) you need to type your full email address as your user name, or vice versa.

Also some accounts may need to enable webmail access in they user account settings. I would assume you'd have access to that, but maybe not. Have you contacted bigpond about it?

Courtesy of the guys over on Android Central, a method of enabling the Google Messages RCS feature on your phone... now!

Users like myself, in the U.K. and France, have been using this RCS, (Rich Communication Services), for the last 4 months and Google have been slowly running it out to other countries since then. However, since Google Messages RCS does not rely on your carrier, thankfully, you can enable it yourself.

Your message is a little confusing! :) By "notification time" I'm assuming you meant tone.

You can set different sounds for different apps via System Settings. Look for Notifications, then find your e-mail app in the list; select it, and you should see its sound setting. Select that and you'll be able to choose whatever tone you want. Repeat for your messages app.

Can I use Samsung fast charger?

Make sure to only use chargers which are USB PD (Power Delivery) compliant. If they say PD on them somewhere then they're probably fine but otherwise I'd pass.

WiFi Messaging

Is text messaging over WiFi possible with Motorola G7 Power phones?

My text attempts using WiFi result in either ....

1. message not sent
or
2. Message sent, but it actually isn't. (the recipient says he never got the message)

Text messaging over my network works OK.

What gives here ????

I use Zoom several times a week, mostly from my laptop but occasionally from my phone. You shouldn't worry about that one.

As for malware, remember that even if a scammer has slipped 100 infected apps past the checks that's a miniscule fraction of the almost 3 million apps in the Play Store. And it's not that legitimate apps are being infected, it's trojans (mostly adware) being hidden in apps that have been written for the sole purpose of carrying the malware (usually things that I'd personally have regarded as "junk" anyway). So you don't have to worry that an app from a legit company such as Zoom will turn out to be infected.

(For the record it seems in the last couple of days they've been finding malware in the iOS App Store too. So no matter what platform you are on it's sensible to think about the legitimacy of an app before installing it).

Mystery Icon In Smart Maps Offline Application

I figured it out, so I'll post it here, in case someone in the future searches for this question:
It is a distance measuring function.

Tap the Ruler-And-Stick "X" looking icon and when it switches to the iPod icon (maybe it is supposed to be a phone icon)- tap the map somewhere. Then tap another spot and it will show the distance between them. (I guess the ruler part of the icon should have tipped me off...)

Help When WiFi Is On, Get Notification of Voicemails

Cococarr1959- I've had this problem, too. (After the ringtone app is removed, I still get the tones going off.) I found some of the left over tones scattered all over the Phone.

Some places I found them were: Phone - Music folder, some in the SD Card - Music folder, some in the Phone - Media - Audio - Ringtones folder & some in the Phone - Music Player folder.

I still have one from a long ago deleted ringtone app that shows up when I wish to set a ringtone. I still have not found it on the phone or SD storage (but I have a junky File Manager app).

I don't know if this will help in your situation, but it's worth a try.
