It could be the Bluetooth in your Alcatel phone is faulty. But it does have a WIRED headphone jack in it, so you should still be able to use WIRED headphones with it.

That's generally a function of the apps you mentioned. For example, to add a photo on this forum, you use its 'Upload a file' link. In my email client, I add photos by using its 'attachments' function. Etc.

See above. However, to answer your question about copying/pasting photos, yes, it's definitely possible--I do it all the time. If you tell us what app you're using, that could shed some light on the problem. But keep in mind the above. Copying/pasting is generally done from one location to another; to get a photo into a different app usually involves that app's upload/import/attach feature.

FIXED: After an exhaustive search, I found nothing related to enabling/disabling mobile network notifications. I found it was actually an app notification: RTM (Remember the Milk), a task manager. It has a notification "Remember the Milk Alert Service" which triggered every time the service connected/disconnected from the network. So, any loss or regaining of the mobile network was emitting this notification.

To alter this notification:

• Tap Settings/Apps/Notifications/Remember the Milk
• Tap "Remember the Milk Alert Service" to disable it. Alternatively, you can leave it enabled and turn off the sound, leave a visual notification, etc.

For those who have read this far: The way I found this was going into the system sounds (Settings/Sounds/Notification sounds) and listening to each until I found the one that was playing -- "Charming Bell", in this instance -- and then going through each app's notifications looking for one that was using that sound. When I found one, I changed it to something else more obnoxious and noticeable, making it unique from other sounds so I could confirm which app might be doing this. Tedious and time consuming but, fortunately, I have solved the issue.

So either Secure Folder is being a pain, or Google Play store is.

I linked my gmail account to my secure folder (hereby referred to as SF), but I then found that any app I downloaded from the Play Store (as opposed to using the Play Store app directly on my phone) was installed in the SF. My "regular cell" wasn't even an option to select to install the app there.

Because I didn't want this, and I was concerned about Removing The Account in SF deleting EVERYTHING on my cell, I instead uninstalled SF. But the problem is there. I've tried going into my Google account to make sure my device is there (my regular cell is, but the SF "device" is not.)

I acctached a second G-account, no go.

I tried reinstalling SF to see if maybe the g-account was still there and then trying to remove it, but it's (not surprisingly) not there. And I'm concerned about re-adding my G-account because I don't want the same thing to happen again.

Any ideas? And yes, I have tried turning my cell off and on again.

On Moto e4 is there a special device configuration to get host device to read peripheral. And, is it possible to plug into Android tablet with Moto e4 as if it were a pen drive

like i said in my earlier post, if there is no forum for your device then that means there is no developers working on your phone. not all phones are rootable and sometimes the root process is device specific. however i did find this thread, you might want to try it:

that is the only bit of info i can find.

and it is not just about the os. for most phones it has to do with the manufacturer, your carrier, and the chipset.

Sounds like it might be something to do with the accessibility features of your phone or tablet, like Talk Back, which is intended for visually impaired. Check the Accessibility options in the Settings.

Well! I am amazed at the large number of replies, many thanks to you all.

I have phoned Three UK and they were very helpful.

There were five premium texts all approx at the same time on a Monday. The texts cost £4.50 and there were 5 Mondays in the month so the cost was high.

Three responded with a refund to my account, a temporary block on all calls/texts etc outside my allowances, gave me the contact number for the company and recommended that I test STOP to the number.

The company deals with computer games and reality TV shows etc which is an unlikely interest for me and my wife as were both on our 80's.

Once again thanks to you all.

If all else fails, go to chrome settings force stop it, wipe data, then uninstall it. Now reinstall it from the play store. If this doesn't work, then there could be an underlying issue that might not be related to chrome.

even if you have the volume turned up? was it always like this?

Thank you. Samsung insist that "WARRANTY VOID : 1 (0X0000)" shows that the software was tampered. Could you please explain how are values "1" and "0X0000" derived?

If you're trying to enlarge the image within the website or email, pinch to zoom has worked well for me. Just put 2 fingers on the screen and split them apart. Thumb and index usually work best.

Odd, must be your variant of S8 as what I have read it would appear that the S8 does have the Samsung Voice input app.

I've had another dig around and cannot find the app on either the Samsung store or the play store, so it must be a system app that only currently gets updated with OTA updates.

I do believe that there are more budget devices out in the world than higher end ones. So targeting higher end hardware should cause a big drop in device support.

Thanks for the response and great suggestion. Turns out it was new hardware requirements as you suggested. The compass was the big limiting requirement. Some of the new features require the compass sensor, but I'll update the app to only support those features on devices that are so equipped and make it as not required, e.g.,

<uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.sensor.compass" android:required="false" /> in Android manifest.

Interestingly when requiring the android.hardware.sensor.compass only 3796 devices were listed as supported and after making the requirement false 10801 devices were supported, which means that 7005 devices were listed as not supporting the compass sensor, 65% at the time of this writing. Found that a little shocking.

Side note, it was a little time consuming to create new APKs to upload just to see the changes, I tried looking for resource tool where I could paste in a hardware specific requirement to see how many devices support it but didn't find anything. Similar to Can I use... for web developers looking for compatibility of JS and CSS across browsers for example the navigator APIs https://caniuse.com/#search=navigator Is something like this available in the developer console for android developers and I overlooked it? If not, this would make an awesome feature.

Just FYI, since your question has nothing to do with the thread you've posted in, it would've been better to create a new thread. There's always a link to do that near the top of the page when you're on a board, like this one, Android Help. Adding a clear subject and fully describing your question is the best way to get help.

You've said that your screen times out in 15 seconds and 25 seconds. Regardless, if you tell us which device you have, and its Android version, we'll try to help you fix it.

This type of thing doesn't depend on Android version but on what the particular manufacturer included.

The old "move to sd" thing from Android 2 was actually deprecated in Android 4. Many manufacturers chose to keep including it in many of their devices, but it's up to them which devices they put it in. To be honest it was always a bit rubbish: it only moved part of the app, none of the app's data, and if the app had any widgets they would stop working the next time you rebooted.

In android 6 the option to "format SD as internal" was introduced, but here not all manufacturers chose to include it. Funnily enough it was flagships that were less likely to have it: I think that manufacturers were worried that using the SD card that way would impact the performance of their phones, and then the phone would be blamed by ignorant users who didn't understand that it was a result of their actions and their sales would be hurt as a result. That one does let you use the SD card more effectively, but at the cost of encrypting it so it cannot be used in any other device (and a lot of apps being broken if the SD card fails).

Hi, my Note 10+ is up to date as of today, 6 Oct. 2019.

I have a suggestion \ complaint regarding Smart Select with the S Pen.

I go to extract text to place in memory and that works just fine. I extract the text and am given a choice to Copy or Share. So far, so good.

I press Copy and the selected text is save to Clipboard. I am then forced to press Back on the Navigation Bar three times before I can proceed further. This issue also existed on my Note 9 as well. Smart Select functions as it should but it is always mildly annoying that I am forced to press Back three times. I trust I explained this well.

Is this a known issue ... or is it just me?

Is there any way to add a menu shortcut to the home screen or some other way to go directly to "text shortcuts"?
