How to display count of unread notifications on app launcher icon like Facebook/WhatsApp

Is this a launcher app you are creating?
No. This is not a launcher app. The app that I am trying to build is a simple service-oriented app where server side is sending FCM notifications about the new services. The notifications are received by the app and shown in system tray as well as in the list of notifications screen.

I want to show the count of unread notifications on app launcher icon like Facebook/WhatApp does.

These app icon notifications were on my partners screen shot

it also does not have to be just an app notification. websites, if you grant them permission to send you notifications, can also use icons similar to what you have.....so that adds many more icons that they could represent.

we get this question daily, it is really hard to help majority of the time, because there just way too many things that they could be.

the easiest way is to just look on the phone, but then that would be sneaky and going behind someone's back which is not good for the relationship. or you can just be open and ask....but that is not for me tell you how to do that. i am definitely not a relationship expert.

.....good luck

question regarding Samsung smart watches purchased through Verizon

my favorite watch to date was the samsung gear s.

i loved the curved glass. it was eye catching and a great conversation piece.

gear%20s.jpeg

the only thing that sucked was the charger and how it charged. it was not made very well. i would still be using it, if i could get it to charge. the contacts wore out underneath the watch and would not work with any new charging cradle i purchased.......so i had to retire it......i still think i have it someplace.

Is there a difference between the terms OS and ROM?

So what I got out of this is depending on what state the os or rom is in basically dictates the name. Rom is a file waiting to be loaded and executed and once that takes place it become the os/operating system.
yes...you got it.

once the custom rom is flashed it becomes the os, but we still call it by the name of the rom and not what os the rom is based on.

Setup of how apps connect through Wifi/Mobile Networks

That prevents an app from using mobile data when you are not using the app, but when you have that app open it can still use a mobile connection.

Yeah. It does not surprise me that the option is for background access only.

That means for me that every time I connect to WiFi I will have to disable mobile, use all apps I want, make sure I exit them after using them and re-enable mobile. It is far from ideal but better than carrying a second phone loaded only with the four apps I need for eventual emergency mobile connections when I am out of WiFi coverage.
App developers should allow users to setup usage to WiFi only all the time at app level.

Replacing USB Port-C with USB Port 2.0 (LG Stylo 4)

Are you sure the port is worn out, as opposed to just getting pocket lint in it which stops the cable engaging fully? Maybe try cleaning it carefully with a fine probe (e.g. a pin, but be careful to keep away from the contacts).

Personally I'd not attempt this. If you've genuinely managed to wear out the port in one year that suggests that LG used a very shoddy part, and so it's unlikely that any replacement will be as bad. But if you really want to you'll need to know what to do with the rest of the USB-C port's contacts: USB-C has 12 (pairs of) contacts, while microUSB has 5, and I don't know whether you can just leave the rest floating. I found a discussion of fitting a USB-C connector to a USB-A device here, but that's the opposite way round to what you want, and I'd think it's the easier one as the device doesn't have the extra lines.

Yes it's worn out. I blew on it and tried it again and its worn out.

I'm just getting tired of trying to keep the cord in.

But, this isn't my only option. I seen that I can add wireless charging but since my port is worn, I might just get a new port and then add the wireless charging so I won't have to keep plugging a cord in the port.

Help Speech to Text

Hi. My LG G4 speech to text feature just stopped working. The microphone icon is still there, but when i attempt to use it, the 'tap to speak' screen pops up as in the past but now it says 'try again'. I took in in to my T-Mobile store; they confirmed all software is up to date. they are stumped it seems. Said maybe the software no longer supports that function...doesn't sound right to me. Any suggestions??

Restrictions

I've no experience of 3 (my son uses them, but I never have), but this sounds plain silly. I'd be tempted to try escalating, ask to speak to supervisors, or customer complaints about the poor service, maybe tell them that you are not getting the service you are paying for and consider their inability to remove restrictions you never asked for to be a breach of contract - I'm no expert in this stuff, just thinking what might get their attention. Telling them how many times you've been told it will be fixed, if necessary taking it to the media (it's amazing how many intractable customer services problems get solved when they get a phone call from say The Guardian rather than a paying customer, i.e. when it might be about to cost them other business through bad publicity).

But what has changing your browser got to do with the "my 3" app? Surely you can use any browser you like, and change the default browser just by clearing the defaults for the current one, waiting until something opens a web link then telling it which browser you want to use instead?

Dialing a number has huge delay since update

This happened to me on a Samsung Galaxy S8Plus (running Pie) yesterday, after having installed a recent security update on Friday. I tried making calls but they never connected, or so I thought when I abandoned the calls. What happened this morning is that I tried dialing *611 to get tech support, but seemingly it failed so I put the phone down. Apparently the call did connect without my knowing it and VZW support got the call, the CSR listened to background noise and decided to call me back to see if something was wrong or if it was a buttdial.
So, I spent nearly two hours with VZW tech support walking through comprehensive troubleshooting. Finally, tech support issued me a new SIM card which I could pick up at a local retailer. An hour after the new SIM was installed, the post dial delay has disappeared, outbound calls now connecting in 2-3 seconds again. Definitely something with VZW but they said nothing about problems in the network. Sigh. At least I didn't have to do a reflash of the whole phone.

Cannot connect to company VPN

That is a great read, really helps. I thought since it worked with DH 5 that the device must not support DH 14 but if I understand correctly I can raise the DH group to maybe 19 and it should work?

Well, I'm just assuming it will work given how dated DH 14 is at this point. Note that primer article is from 2013, which predates the release of those 'problematic' Galaxy S7 phones (early 2016). So my assumption is based on supposition for the most part.
Another clue to this puzzle is I rely on Signal Private Messenger as my texting messaging app, which also uses ECDH -- which I recall was working fine on an even more dated Galaxy S3 back in its day (released in 2012).

Accessing the hidden menu of my lg tribute

Maybe if you tell us what the "hidden menu" is called it will be easier to answer.

Two common hidden menus are "developer options", which you unlock by tapping repeatedly on the "build number" in the software information, and the "Testing" menu which you access by typing *#*#4636#*#* into the phone dialer. If it was something else you were thinking of I'll need more information.
