Root Unrevoked for Incredible (Recovery reflash tool/Easy root method)

Ok, i think i got mine rooted. I have the superuser app and incredilight installed and working. How do i get wireless tether installed? I tried the method in the 10 minute video but i dont have the folder android.tether showing up. I'm using Astro to look for it.

Nevermind, I found it on the market.

Just download wirless teather from the market place.

and check out this webpage for everything you need to know about rooting etc...

Ok so where are the instructions? I have an uprooted incredible running windows 7 and using mozilla fox as my web browser. How do I root using this method. I went to the site and clicked on the incredible and downloaded the content, but idk where it is or how to use it.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit and successfully achieved root in one try. I already have the Incredilight, Adfree Android, and Wireless Tether apps working, so I can confirm that I do indeed have root.

I could not get Wireless Tether or adfree working by just installing them from market and running them. Did they require extra steps for you?

exactly what i end up with

did you get an black screen with green writing on it also?

I'm thinking this computer is the problem it's a community computer (win7) at my complex . I will try this again on my laptop (which I left at work) or my work desktop

I got the same thing, just unplug the phone close UNREVOKED3 and restart the process over, it worked the second time 100% took about 30 seconds...

Someone who was having problems getting unrEVOked3 to work tried a different computer and it worked for them there. It wouldn't work on a computer running Vista, but did work on XP.

So should you do this if you are already rooted? Any benneft?

I would hate to mess up a good thing.

My phone was already rooted and I ran it to get the newer version of Clockworkmod. Running it on a rooted phone shouldn't do any harm.

Hmmm did I do something wrong?

It went through the entire process and said done, but under rom manager it still shows 2.0.2.1

and when I went back into Clockwork recovery it says 2.0.2.1

Did you download the new file? unrevoked3 recovery reflash tool, v3.0

Did it go through the motions (reboot the phone, etc)?

Yep and I think it said 2.0.2.4 at the recovery screen but when I rebooted the phone from there rom manager said 2.0.2.1 and when I flashed it (flash clockwork mod recovery) it still showed the same. Now booting into recovery it say 2.0.2.1.

Maybe I should do it again and just not touch the update in rom manager?

What version does your rom manager show Jon if you don't mind me asking?

I just rebooted into recovery and it shows 2.0.2.4.

I believe Rom Manager lists 2.0.2.1 as the latest version, which is why I ran unrEVOked3 to update it to 2.0.2.4.

Just ran it again and again it says 2.0.2.4 in clockwork recovery, I think when you flash the clockwork recovery in rom manager it puts you back to the old version, so just a heads up for others.

BTW thanks Jon for the kind help and fast responses.

I must be dumb!

I've done everything except try a different computer since I don't have one, and I'm still not rooted. I'm heading to a buddies house to try on his.

What I do have is the UnrEVOked ClockworkMod and the process goes through smoothly all the way to the end where it says Done. Still no root apps work. I'm going a little nuts, but we'll see how the different computer works. I'll update with results later.

Update: tried on an XP setup to no avail. The process did go all the way through to the end and said "Done" with no issues. Not sure what to do next.

Edit: Ok now back to square one again. Once again I booted into clockwork recovery and it says 2.0.2.1 again. For some reason the new one is not sticking....

It may be easiest just to wait until they update Rom Manager to include the new Clockwork build. We've already had at least one update that way but I'm sure they've been putting all their time lately into the new CW release for rooters.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm just talking about people who are already rooted and just want to update recovery.

I am on a Mac and can get to the black screen with green lettering. WHen I go to install zip it says file not found. I have tried this a dozen times and never see WIFI tether anywhere. Do I need to erase anything like my SD card and start again? I am a total noob with this. Wish there would of been a hand holding tutorial for mac. I just want to enable wifi tether

how long does it take?

i have been sitting at pushing recovery image for a while now?

any harm in unplugging my phone and trying again?
