Root White Widow

I am running Apps2SD, so I decided to move all of the apps that are currently using widgets from SD to internal. This seemed to help a bit, but I still had about 1 sec lag or so. I changed the sleep profile to 528/245 as you suggested, and it seemed to help too. I had no lag accessing the notification bar, but anything that had to do with the launcher (switching screens, accessing the app drawer, using shortcut buttons) had about a 1 sec lag.

So after all that, I thought it was something to do with ADW... I checked to see if it was being kept in memory, and it was... unchecked it, got the lag back. Check it back on, no change.

Rebooted, now no lag at all...

So now I'm wondering if maybe there's a memory leak somewhere, or something along those lines? Because this is kinda what happened earlier... it just sort of came back after a while. Any way to check that?

sorry i havent been too active today guys, t was my 18th birthday today ;)

sounds like the issue with lag is you profiles. sleep/standby should be around ~240 min/ ~500 max but keep it on the on-demand governor.

and correct. 4.4 to 4.5 is JIT, but thats all. and 4.6 which ill put together whennver i get a chance wont be much different either.

The Contacts app seems to have some issues. I manually entered a new contact in several different ways, from dialer, from contacts, etc... I go through and hit Done/Save and it looks ok. When I go through and try to search or scroll through the contacts, that new contact never appears. When I look at gmail on my PC, that new contact is there. It just doesn't appear in the phone. I tried to manually sync Contacts and enabled all groups and lists to be sure I wasn't missing something. I also tried to create a contact on GMail on my PC and then sync on the phone and it doesn't appear.

This could be a deal-breaker. I like this ROM a lot, but this seems like something elementary. Anyone else see this?

Thanks!

Well, a (belated) happy birthday to you, andrizoid.

May your next 18 be full of just as much discovery and (fill in the blank with whatever else you like)..

ive never had any issues with contacts not showing up. id try a reflash, also try looking into phonebook 2.0 from the market, theres a few features that may solve your issue

And thank you Frisco. Im hoping so too :D

To everyone else, i have a to-do list today. and its large. nothing ground breaking, and not all of it related to this project, but one of them is to finally get 4.6 up, with a new and-what i hope to be-cool addition to the first page that should ake your lives easier.

Thanks, Andrizoid! Happy belated birthday, as well. I will look into pb2.0 Keep up the good work, sir!

For those interested, thanks to ColonelPanic, iv'e figured how how to tell whether or not you will need to use a different kernel before flashing. The issue is the hardware-something that was clear before but the exact cause wasnt. The Eris ships two-as far as i have seen so far-different touchscreen drivers, SYN0104 and MELFAS. You can check your version by booting into Fastboot. and checking under Touch Panel.

The kernel in the rom only works with the SYN0104 touchscreen driver. Me and ColonelPanic are looking for a kernel patch for the MELFAS driver, but until then you can use Conaps kernel.

If you see ColonelPanic around the boards, be sure to thank him. Hes made the White Widow project so much easier on me. Hes the whole reason that its still around.

I also expierience this. I have a few people that just dont show up in my texting contacts but if i go into my phone they are there. It's very weird and I brought it to andrizoids attention we went through a few things but there was no fix. Don't reflash that wont fix it as ive tried that. Just a weird glitch maybe the new 4.6 will fix it.

Andrizoid is there a widget you can make your self to tell us when there is a new update for White Widow. A little pot leaf pops up in the notification bar when theirs an update or something. Maybe we need an app programmer to assist.

Thanks for the info Andrizoid. I've confirmed that I have the MELFAS driver. I hope you and ColonelPanic are able to find a way to make it work with both soon. I miss my proximity sensor.

On another note, my buddy who has the SYN0104 driver and doesn't have to use Conap's kernel has issues with some lwp's. It's interesting because using Conap's kernel, I'm having far fewer issues with the same lwp's working. Just thought I'd throw that out there too.

Are you using handcent? Handcent has an option to only show mobile numbers and if you don't have someone's number setup as mobile you will not see it.

i have a large list lol. im starting early though so hopefully i can get around to it all.
ill keep you all informed though :D

Update: I think my lag/freeze issue might have been caused by the SetCPU widget and/or Guage Battery widget. I removed both of those (didn't really need SetCPU widget I guess, and found that the battery % can be shown in notification bar via Spare Parts), and now it seems very snappy after I wake/unlock the phone. It may also be because I rebooted (seems to fix it for a day or so every time)... I guess I'll find out soon ;)

Just thought I'd mention it and see if anyone else ever had any issues with widgets causing lag...

I have heard of SetCPU widget causing issues, I've never used it for that reason.

of course widgets cause lag, but theres nothing we can do about it.
if your experiencing lag scrolliong between screens because of too many widgets, theres an option in spare parts to tweak for that.

Nah I don't have many...

I'm only using 3 screens:
Left screen, I have Dictionary.com, Urban Dictioanry, and The Weather Channel widgets.
Middle (home) screen, I have DigiClock widget.
Right screen, I have the stock settings/toggle widget, Rimshot and Sad Trombone widgets (just amusing to use every now and then). That's it.

I've always had all of these widgets with no problem at all. I honestly think SetCPU widget was the culprit. Really the only thing I liked that one for was seeing the battery temp (since I already know what I OC'd it to). But it's not that big of a deal... I'd rather have immediate access to my phone when I unlock/wake it instead of having to wait anywhere from 2-10 seconds :D

weather channel widget may be part of it too.
