Root [ROM]Leaked Stock 2.2 with Sense [EVERYTHING WORKS!!]

First post, but I have been lurking around here and the xda forums since I first got my DINC just after the release date so please do not think I am a complete noob.

I'm not sure what all this talk has been about having to fully wipe your phone to use this method to upgrade to 2.2, I did it just fine without having to back-up or re-install anything. All my previous apps still seem to be working fine and dandy.

First of all let me mention that I was running everything up to the beginning of this process COMPLETELY stock
2.1 update1.
NO leaked OTA.
NO root.

For those of you that may want Froyo and running stock like me but feel that having to re-install all your apps isn't worth the trouble here is the method that I used(just because this worked for me DOES NOT mean it is guaranteed to work for you. I will not be responsible for any loss of applications or damage done to your phone if you decide to follow this guide):

1. Install the leaked OTA - instructions found at Install lastest OTA with 100% working root 2.0 radio/720p video/hboot .79 - xda-developers

2. Root the phone with unrevoked - unrevoked3 recovery reflash tool, v3.1

3a. Place the leaked ROM (.zip) file on to your SDCARD from here [ROM]Leaked Stock 2.2 with Sense [EVERYTHING WORKS!!] - xda-developers

3b. Reboot into recovery

4b. Use clockwork mod that is now on your phone from rooting to install 20100727_stock_froyo_signed.zip that you previously placed on the card

5. Reboot

6. Wait for your phone to power cycle a few times

7. Enjoy ice cold Froyo + Sense UI with all the goodies you already had on your phone!

I assume this method would work for everyone, just RUU back to stock 2.1 before you start.
Again let me mention that this method worked great for me but that does not mean it will work for you!

Good luck everyone! :D

so you did it without wiping the phone and it worked and you still got everything? i could see doing this now if thats the case

Sure did. Froyo is installed, all new apps completely work and all my old apps and settings are still in place.

Let us all know if this works for you too or if myself and Mezmryz were just lucky!

Use wireless tether (free) on the market, and there's an android.tether folder you have to put on your SD card (google it). Works perfectly as an Access Point.

You're getting AP? All discussion I've seen so far is adhoc only. If you do have AP, can you let me know which version of tether you are running and if it's using the old standby .bin file?

lol it's been so long since I had to mess with the !Δ screen that I forgot how to bring up the menu. Vol up + Power for those that need it.

asked a few times earlier but this thread exploded so i'm not sure if anyone saw it...can someone that has sling player and has installed the leaked 2.2 confirm that sling player works? it's one thing that i absolutely need and the reason i went back to stock from CM6...

Yes, Slingplayer works with this update. I reinstalled mine from a Titanium Backup. Then did the Market fix and now I can see it in the Market as well.

Not sure I will stay with this ROM because of the Gmail issue adding the 0 in your emails...

I'm not sure if this is just an app problem. But now when I go into my System Panel "system" app, ALL of my apps are in the background, and nothing is cached for me anymore.

Anyone have an idea?

mine to, but if you noticed even tho its this way you always have more free memory, im guessing its a better memory manager or something, I have seen things inactive, but they never stay there long anymore.

just guessing tho

Everything works but don't run Quadrant unless you want to cry. Slower than the Galaxy pre 2.2. With CM6 I was just under Nexus 2.2

btw did anyone notice that the stock HTC keyboard is now Multi-touch o.O, i'm a Swype person but its still pretty nice to have a decent backup keyboard now

How is that possible?

Nexus One 2.2 is is 1250+ and Galaxy<2.2 is 750+

If you are just under Nexus One 2.2, than you would be way ahead of Galaxy<2.2

Can anyone explain what the process would be for going back to stock 2.1 if we needed to? I'm extremely tempted to do this but I'm not sure I want to if the OTA update is coming soon. If I install this ROM and the update is released, how would i go about getting it?

Sorry, I've never rooted before and I'm just unsure of risk/reward.

Is anyone's Gmail app adding characters to replies and emails? Mine's adding a "0", followed by a line break before my actual text.

Yes, mines doing this, kinda annoying. Also, for some reason I sent an email that showed up all encrypted in a weird way.not sure of that was a function of the gmail app or swype which I used to type the email.

Either way, a little bit of a buggy gmail experience to say the least.

CM6 is not the same as the leaked Froyo. It's ported from the Nexus One (or so I assume since I got an email about my new Nexus One features when I installed it). Cyanogen runs much faster than the HTC's version of Froyo for some reason. And yes my average score after a bunch of tweaks is still about 770.

installed hydra uc kernal and market fix..now phone storage isnt working.. which is completely crippling my camera... :(
