Root Custom recovery on x!!!!!!!

You must not look too hard.
We have Rain and Alldroid both asking Koush where it got the LOADED version of busybox he included in his recovery. It's obviously a modified version of it. Now I'm reading between the lines here but I think it obvious that Alldroid and Rain and probably Bird know where he got that version. (them)

While it may be Open source if they are the ones that modified it then Koush should give credit or explain why they had nothing to do with it. However he seems strangely quite and very happy to be on engadget.

I saw that, I was unable to locate Birdman/Rains github which is the only way (short of outright theft) I could see how Koush got "their" copy. or that we could verify that (since Koush's code has been released)

not saying it couldn't happen, I just think that a cryptic, sarcastic comment by an anonymous AllDroid tweater, is not the same thing as decent evidence to suggest that Koush is distributing uncredited or stole code. Which he released, openly and without request.

if this is the case (I'm not saying I think it is or isn't), why haven't any of the parties named stepped up to give these allegations merit or defuse the situation if it isn't true? weird!

Why

I'll be releasing a new Droid X Recovery Bootstrap version that uses a different busybox. It will be around 1.5mb smaller too.

From what I know they were working with koush on the project but then Koush split away from the team.

@P3Droid: Retweet to everyone..droid x owners b ready less than 24 hrs left till u will see.........

p3Droid works mostly on kernels too....so that could be very good news.

man, so many things can cause friction when driven people try to work together. It could be something as simple as a disagreement on how to attack a problem or work ethics. In a lot of these situations there may not be a clear right or wrong party, just conflicting ideas.
I feel like we are drawing a line in the sand between two or 3 people that they may not even be on board for

it is indeed froyo

Droid X Owners: Rejoice the time is almost here...be ready less than 24 hrs

All of this aside, where would be the best place for one to start learning to build custom roms for this device? Seeing as things are looking very good for us Droid X users.

Here's a post I did over at Alldroid and I just wanted you all to see it here.

Competition is a good thing, we can only benefit from it. Everyone please stop complaining and saying how wrong Koush is, we obviously don't know the whole story, also considering what Koush has done for the community as a whole, I'd say a lot of you are being very disrespectful. Bird & Rain are great developers and continue to do great things, let's quit this in-fighting and appreciate everything that these great devs have done for us.

Here you go this is from rain

Contributions, ramblings, and rants from Rainabba: Here's what you need to know if you are to form an opinion about me or AllDroid.org

Bottom line: If you're going to use someone else's work, give them credit and demonstrate your maturity and integrity. If you know someone else is working their ass off on a project, let them know you're doing them same in case they want to just step back and let you run with it instead of letting them devote days of their lives only to find out after the fact that a bit of information might have saved them that time. If you want to run your mouth in public about issues, make sure you know the issue at the least. Better yet, have some facts from reliable sources, not sites who don't bother to investigate their stories, loud-mouth attention seekers who've proven they're not trustworthy, or fan-boys operating in defensive mode without facts, or reason.

I don't know. That blog post had a tinge of bitterness to it. I don't know the dynamic between these guys though so i honestly can't make any judgements either way.

We can all, at least agree that a custom recovery Kicks ass either way. At least now the X is at the same spot the Milestone is. so only pure innovation from here out.

I still maintain my stance that I will wait for Bird and Rain to release their recovery and never purchase anything from Koush

Unfortunately I bought his ROM manger a month ago. You may want to get his free DXB version though since you'll need it for the froyo that's coming. :D

An the fact that koush is replacing the busybox rather than give a little acknowledgment says alot to me. I mean really is he a egomaniac or something?

Sounds like P3Droid has a leaked froyo

this just in.

"Clue 3 this is not a ROM pull or port we have never done that.. Both rooted and non get to haz this"

Does this mean we should unroot first? I do not have any themes, but I have replaced the live wallpaper with a modded Droid2 version and replaced the boot animation. Am I good for Froyo or should I roll back? I have not loaded any recovery yet either. I guess I can hold off on that too, right? Thanks

I am a former jailbreaker on a real network now with a real smartphone
