Root Droid X sbf File Released....Now you can unbrick

im having the loop isuue and would love to get the sbf file. and hopes someone can show me the correct ways to handles this....
 
I felt like experimenting and flashed my X with the SBF file this evening. I did not do a factory reset or wipe cache; I just flashed it. It was successful because root was gone, had to reactivate, etc. What was strange to me though is that all my normal apps were there, wallpaper did not change, etc. I was expecting this to totally wipe the phone and power back up like day 1. For my clarification (and possibly others' as well), in order to restore to a pristine "day-1" state does a factory reset and wipe cache have to be done first? Or did something not completely work with the flash?

You need to do a factory data reset first
 
Thanks droider13. So just to confirm, by factory reset/wipe cache and then flashing will bring the phone to day-1 status? Also, are there any issues with reactivating the phone? Does Verizon flag this as suspicious, etc.?

Yep and no red flags with the d1 I was reactivating everyday
 
Sorry for the noob question... so what's the difference between doing a restore of a nandroid backup and using this sbf file?

Cause I'm planning on rooting and I guess using Koush custom recovery. (Although I was hoping to use Birdman's)

I hate to ask a probably obvious question, but from reading a rootzwiki guide, it says "5. Put your Motorola Droid X in bootloader mode. Now connect the Droid X via usb."

What the heck is bootloader mode?

Hold volume down and camera button at the same time then hit the power button.
 
I just tried to rename my backed up files on my droid and somehow wiped them all out... can you pm the download to me as well please...
 
So I have the SBF and RSLite 4.7+patch...
and I'm booted in the bootloader 30.01
Usb is plugged in
but RSLite doesn't find my phone at all, so I can't do anything. Help?

Tried to install a theme on 2.2 just to see if it would work. Obviously it didn't.

Go to Mototora's site and download the usb/charging drivers. then try again

Same problem, have the Motorola drivers. It detects it's processor, under model number, but thats it.

EDIT: Took a deep breath and clicked it anyway. Looks like nothing is supposed to show up under device properties. Its working.
 
As people still seem to have a problem with this, I thought I'd outline the procedure again to fully recover from a bricked phone (Be sure to have the Motorola Drivers installed on your PC beforehand):

1. Power off phone.
2. Hold Power + Home buttons to boot into recovery.
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4. Wipe Cache
5. Power off phone.
6. Hold Power + Volume Down + Camera button to boot into the Bootloader. (This is a different looking screen than the recovery screen, it's very obvious when you see it.)
7. Connect Droid X to PC.
8. Run RSD Lite 4.7 with patch pre-applied. If you need RSD Lite and the patch, you can download it from my personal mirror http://www.vengefulsoda.com/RSDLite-4.7+patch.zip BE SURE YOU OVERWRITE THE PST_FLASH.INI IN THE RSD LITE FOLDER WITH THE ONE INSIDE OF THIS ARCHIVE AFTER YOU INSTALL RSD LITE.
9. Flash SBF to Phone. (The link to the SBF file cannot be provided on the forum. Also, some people have had to rename their SBF file to something short like r.sbf and drop it in the root of the C: or a folder right underneath the C: )

Phone should be fine.

Look and see if you have any devices in device manager with errors? uninstall them. Make sure you put that (sorry don't remember name) in the directory like the docs say. But I'm pretty sure it's a driver issue.

After flashing if you find yourself in a boot cycle do this to fix it:

1. Boot into recovery mode
2. Do a factory reset

Then it should boot back into 2.1
