[Official] What Changes Have You Noticed After Updating to 2.2 (Froyo)?

I had a 2 GB video on my phone in the mobile format. Whenever I tried skip forward or back to a specific time index, the phone would lock up on 2.1 and I got a "unplayable file" error.

Not so on 2.2! I can now skip to a time index essentially at will, no lock, no loss of time sink. No going to try a ridiculously large mkv file to see if rockplayer can do the same.

And, is it me or is the stock browser zippier?

had my lockscreen disabled when i upgraded, but i wanna put it back. can't seem to find a way to do that though. i played with screen lock timer a bit but that doesn't seem to work. any ideas?

also i can't seem to get DDMS to work to take screenshots. i have usb debugging on when i connect to the computer. the little "finding drivers for your hardware" thing comes up and fails. when i load ddms.bat, the program doesn't recognize the device. any help with this would be appreciated too. thanks.

I've seen some others mention that too, your talking about the point2point swype lock? the one you create in security? I didn't check this but yesterday I did put my phone down for a while and every time I still had to unlock the screen, then unlock the phone - same way, same route. Didn't think twice about it.

EDIT -

Yeah, I got visible pattern checked, and security lock timer @ 20min

I disabled my lock screen as well in 2.1 and now can't find the option as well. Well I like this way anyway.

nah just the standard lock. left to right swipe.

Maybe location and security, set up lockscreen?
no option to put it back on there :/

Yeah that's where I set mine up, but see below...

...you are talking about the standard swype to unlock, I got that, was enabled before the update, still is and its updated too - no longer green, like a bluesh grey with shading. Will look for the option if its there.

EDIT: yup, you are correct with that lock - I can't find it unless its buried in a sub folder some where, it is updated though, if you could revert, enable it, update - that might bring it back, or at least the function.

Your either stuck with it, or without it - you have no option to add, nor do I have to remove...

no i'm not, but ddms shouldn't require root. it worked fine before i upgraded.

Your gonna have to help me out, what is DDMS? I've plugged my X in a PC w/XPro & Vista with success both times. Device ready to use, shows DROID X in root.

Can we do mass/batch app updates with this 2.2
Yes. Market has a couple new features--comments are on a separate tab, and you can select "update all".

Also noticed LPP is a LOT smoother. It was pretty good before, but occasionally switching home screens with that "Sense UI" like pinch was a bit jerky. Not jerky at all now, smooth as butter.

I'm loving the 2.1 root still works. Bon voyage bloatware!

How is the battery life with Froyo?

Much better, there is a "Battery Manager" under settings now - you still have, performance mode but now there is an additional "maximum battery saver", "nightime saver" and my fav "custom battery saver" where you can set peak hours of use and scedule when data shuts off completly - with this on most of the time yesterday evening I didn't drop 10% in 6 hours.

DDMS is using the android SDK to take screenshots of the device. unless you know another way? that doesn't require root?

Their may be a third party lock screen app which may when removed return the lock screen to a default condition.

I'm having an issue with regular wallpaper. When scrolling through the home screens, it's jerky and almost looks like the wallpaper is flashing during the transition. This does not happen using live wallpaper though. Also, the gallery can freeze up from time to time. These issues were not present immediately after the update, but showed up after I did a factory reset. On the positive side, the phone is WAY faster after the factory reset.
