Root [Release] Android 2.2 Froyo for the Droid X

Can I get any help?
I rooted using universalandroot but I cannot move the su from bin to xbin using root explorer. I keeps saying "cannot move file read only"

Any help is very appreciated

Thanks

Top right of the directory listening you'll see a small button that says R/W, click it. Need to make the filesystem able to write. When done click it again to make it R/O.

Hmmm...I rooted and updated using update.zip, and everything went well, but my Quadrant is only 971, and the frame rates look worse. I did a reboot after the update - is there something else I should be doing?

quadrant is not the most reliable thing, try running it again

That was the second time - first was like 850. The screens seem to be laggy (especially the initial screen unlock), and the graphic tests are ~15 FPS.

I would say give it a day, sometimes a new system needs time to set in

Did you rename or remove any stock apps?

I have the identical issues as awells527. Has occurred and is consistent from the very beginning of the 2.2 install.

While my quadrant score stays at 1320... which is where it was at with 2.1... the initial unlock screen has a substantial lag in it and screen to screen has about a .33 sec lag time as well. I haven't said anything as I have been able to live with it for now until it becomes the 'only' issue.... then of course it will suddenly elevate to the 'top.... most important.... this thing is a piece of crap... I'm through with droid' issue. :)

But until then... it's just a secondary issue.

Try taking some time to load all of your programs once. When programs run they build a Cache, and this helps to improve speed.

Also, remember that this update is completely unofficial. It's unknown where or who it was leaked from. For all we know the official update could be 10x faster.

Time will only tell.

I rather thought it might be the .... oh I don't know... perhaps... could it be...... the.......... !!!!400!!!! PLUS apps I have on it! hehehehe

.... later that evening....

HOLY CRAP!!!! I actually reached the end of the droid market list!!!

I would trust this.. ericnail has never steered me wrong.

My droid is acting funny (read: Not funny).

I was going along fine with Froyo since the day it was leaked, until today, the phone vibrated once then became unresponsive. No physical buttons, no touch screen functionality.

Now, when I remove the battery and plug back in, I get to my main screen, with no responsiveness. After about 5 min of waiting, I get to the red eye and it boots again...Should I be worried? (I am worried...perhaps an SBF is in order?)

Update: After about 5 reboots (and scaring me 8/9 of the way to an SBF...) my phone came back to life and is working as before...that was scary and unusual!

Update #2: This got worse instead of better - screen went black and unresponsive to the power button...Just rebooted into recovery mode and did a data/cache wipe...fingers crossed.

I really want to do this, but am still somewhat confused by the instructions. I flashed roms on a Nexus One a few times and it seemed a bit easier. Oh well, it won't kill me to wait for the OTA, but losing root might not be so cool. Will have to go through every post when I have the time and hope I can piece together everything before trying.

"su"
"mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/mtd/mtdblock4 /system"
"mv /system/bin/su /system/xbin"

can i use this in terminal emulator instead of adb?

also, I only see one loggwrapper, wheres the one I have to deleate/remane??

Edit: nevermind, got it all figured out. back to running a working 2.2!

Go through the first 2-3 pages really and by the 3rd page it should be pretty understanding of what to do.

Most 'big' questions MOST people will have get answered quickly.

And if you have any questions just PM the OP.. or even me and I will try my best at explaining it the easiest way possible. :D

Power off the phone and let it sit for a few seconds and then boot that big bitch back up!

VROOM VROOM VROOM...WHOO HOOOOOO!

I wonder if a wipe but leave it at 2.2 and rebuild your system from a fresh 2.2 install would help some.

Don't mind me I'm just showing off

Ummmmmm.... piiman? You been tweakin the Quadrant again? :)

Quadrant reboots my droid now when I run it since upgrading to 2.2. Is there a newer version I should be using?

Were you running full or custom benchmarks?

Well I'll be. Finally got it to run all the way through without resetting the unit. Got a 1459 out of it. That's better than the 1320 I was getting initially. That was for a full benchmark test.... no custom.
