Root [VIDEO] HowTo UnRoot Incredible by downgrading

Folks, need some advice best way to get back to stock incredible since I am going to give it to my son and don't want him messing around and bricking it.

Went from 2.1, rooted with unrevoked 3, added wi fi tethering, then unrevoked forever to s-off, and applied the 2.2 download update.

Best way to get back to unroot from where it is today? Thanks in advance.

OK so I have installed Virtouse 2.5 but I still have 2.05 radio. How do I install 2.15? and whats a good OTA rom out there??

Virtuous has been very good so far. Make a nandriod and try some others that look interesting to you. If you don't like them, you can just restore your nandoid, and you are right back to where you were in a few minutes.

To get 2.15 just download the following, copy to your SD card, boot into HBOOT (volume down + power) say yes when it asks you if you want to update.

Make sure to nandroid first!

You should be able to follow the instructions in the second video.

Sorry for the add'l questions. Watching the second video.. reference to sdk - will I need to install something for sdk first?

Also, when powering up with volume down on, I see a "factory reset" option. Will this take my back? What does this option do?

Kind of noob, if you can't tell!!

Yeah, you need to install the android sdk so you can push commands/files to your phone. I have a howto here. Just stop at step 9.

No, factory reset will not get you back to stock.

It never asks me to update in hboot all I get is 3 "no image" then "no image or wrong image". Do I need to apply it in recovery?

Ya I guess I'll try that next. Here's what it does.... Thanks for trying

This one's interesting. I know you said you are s-off but just for total kicks, can your verify that at the top of the hboot screen? Also, is there any chance you have more than one PB31IMG files on your card, perhaps from earlier efforts?

If that all passes, I'm with DD...kinda thinking to place it on another card altogether that's been Fat32 formatted by a PC.

Back on this... when following video #2, did not receive version error message when loading PB31img. Should I try video #1 method and try to load it?

Ha. Same thing just happened to me. Maybe because I don't have the leaked OTA software version but a lower number. Video 1 method failed for me though. I will just go ahead and let it try to upgrade now. Fingers Crossed

I've tried everything I can think of to get PB31IMG.zip to autorun. I see the HBOOT takes a look at it but doesn't ask me to update. I've reformatted my card with the phone. I did with my PC. I tried another card. Nada. HBOOT comes up fine, looks for any updates then just goes back to its menu.

Any suggestions? I am eager to load the 2.5 radio and a 2.2 ROM but can't get past step 1.

This has also happened to me as well and I have tried multiple downloads from different sites with no luck.

HBOOT screen states S-ON RADIO-1.00.19.36:22
I have read this thread and have attempted all known diagnostics including reformatting the SD card with FAT32 via my PC and the phone itself then installed PB31IMG.zipto the SD root. Did this multiple times but still can't get past HBOOT. It just sits there so I tried Recovory and it takes me into ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1. I selected "install the zip from sdcard" option, then choose PB31IMG.zip from the sdcard. I then scrolled down to say YES to install it. I then got the following data output:

Installing SDCARD: pb31img.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/pb31img.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After it checks for the downgrade zip file, it says "Update failed! Main version older!" Any help would be appreciated...really want to unroot this. Thanks!

:confused:Well when i bought my phone it was rooted, the guy i got it from finally unrooted the phone back to factory but now having trouble installing the 2nd 2.1 update, so now i cant even get to the 2.2 update. any idea's?

So for some reason I have confused myself. I am rooted, s-OFF, with official 2.2 update. To unroot do I s-ON first and then follow video? I thought could s-ON and thenflash 2.1 stock image then flash 2.2 image and that would erase all signs of having ever rooted your phone
