I have a ton of stuff running on my phone even though i shut it down such as a starwars sound board, for example. How do i make sure this stuff gets shut off and stops using my memory when im done with out a task killer. I have read they are bad to use on your phone.
You are correct that you don't need a task killer.
Your phone will manage the memory - that star wars soundboard is just in memory, in a sleep state. There is nothing wrong with memory being used, because android will optimize it by itself. If you need to free up memory, the system will do it for you.
yes it is already rooted
In other words STOP looking at it![]()
I've been trying to download the nandroid 2.3.13 but im not having very good luck. Is there a different set of installing instructions for.that one?
Just download it, unzip it and place the resulting folder into the backup folder that is located in the clockworkmod folder on your sdcard. Then with the droid x bootstrapper app open it and press bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery. Once it's booted into recovery select backup/restore, then restore, then scroll down to clockworkmod and select the file you downloaded.
Ok... I'm starting to feel brave. I have downloaded a few root-required apps since I rooted.
I've got ROM Manager and Titanium backup installed. I downloaded the nandroid file. What is the name of the bootstrapper app? I may attempt to do this tonight once I get on the right track.
Ok thanks. I'll go look for it. Do I need to backup anything first? Sorry for the questions, but paranoid I am gonna screw this up. I'm an IT guy and generally pretty brave when it comes to this stuff, but this is new territory for me.
Sweet. It appears to have worked. I assume I just have to reinstall titanium backup and then restore my apps.
Thanks to everyone for all of the help...
I did the advanced restore method and all of my root apps repeatedly ask for su permission, even after checking the always allow box. For now, I reverted to my original 2.2 back up. Is there a way to prevent this problem or did I do something wrong?
That is true, but I would suggest only restoring missing user apps, or you may have sync problems
Yeah. Wish I saw this earlier because I now have duplicates.
Also my physical buttons are no longer lit.
Well... What to do now... Duplicate apps and no light on the physical buttons. I regret doing this.
Dwnld' and unzipped file. Placed file in clockwork. But what are the proper steps to doing advanced restore?
maybe you need the updated superuser, or you could of tried clearing the permissions
