Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

Hi Guys,

I have upgraded to the Froyo version on my SGS and I have few questions on the same. Before froyo I had samsung widgets available but now it seems they are not available. Kindly suggest.

Regards,
Kailash
From froyo both (samsung and android) widgets are in "Widgets".

Great ! :D But i see there is two options, Temporary and permanent root. What do i choose ? Is it only the temporary root that can be undone or ??

The sooner they release it the better for their sales. They just gave out froyo, so they might not be in any sort of hurry.

On the flip side, if they can do it, the guys at xda should probably be able to do it better, and with no strings attached.

Either way, I welcome it ...

Problem with Social Hub - Friends, I just upgraded my Galaxy S to 2.2 and post that, I am finding some issues in my cell:

- Social Hub only shows SMS and none of my emails accounts can be added.
- I tried downloading Seven software for emails and use the same, though I can use it for Gmail and hotmail, I am unable to configure it for my corporate Exchange mails.
- In my logs, i see both calls and sms messages, a bit annoying that i cannot see only calls
- seems to me that the RAM memory being used has tremendously increased, previously I used to have abt 150+ Mb free, now i rarely see more than 50-60 Mb free

Any thoughts on these will be helpful :)

- Corporate mails are best handled by Nitrodesk (Touchdown) app
- Logs - you can goto menu and set 'View by' options. You can select from All logs, Missed calls, Dialled calls, sent messags etc. BUT we certainly miss the option of just ALL calls and NO Messages :-(
- RAM Usage - same case here.... On an average the RAM available is 50 - 70 while it was 120-150 earlier before the Froyo update!

Yep, I know about that.. I am also involved with Doc on that ROM, so I know :p

Only install JPU, if you don't care much about your apps/data..

I can reinstall apps by TB, but data on sdcard are all retained right? What do you mean?

I'll try to read all the posts, maybe I'll flash in the weekend.

Yes, sdcard is safe.. App data, probably not.. And not sure if data backup up from JPU will restore fine or not..

Can anybody help to advise how to caliberate my sgs with froyo.
i guess caliberate means deleting the battery history.

i read some where you have to go to recovery mode by rebooting the sgs with holding volume up button + power button + home button.

but i didnt find any option for deleting battery history or so called cwm feature.

so can anobody help to breif step by step to delete battery history.

Cheers

Are you on official froyo or still on eclair? If on eclair, you most probably have Samsung's 2e recovery. Then:-

You need Clockwork Mod Recovery made for SGS.
- Rename it to update.zip (not update.zip.zip) and put it on your sdcard folder
- When you go to Samsung's 2e recovery, apply sdcard:update.zip. You need to do this twice before getting into the CWM
- To delete battery history, go to advanced CWM features > Wipe Battery Stats. Then reboot.

Reference: xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] Doc Rom : JPU V4.0/JPU Slim V3.0.1 / BUJP8 v9 (14/12/2010) No. 1 ROM for SGS :) under Installation Steps heading.

I don't know if this works against 3e recovery (from official froyo). Read the FAQ in that link to get back to 2e recovery.

Please read Kalpik's more detailed instructions. I should be sleeping and so should you. it's almost 4am :D

1. Just try downloading http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-galaxys.zip, rename, and put it on sdcard. Flash it from the 3e recovery and see if it works.

2. If not, you need to get back to 2e recovery. If you follow the link I gave, scroll down till FAQ subheading. You'll see:

01. I don't have 2e recovery, how should I install this ROM? Disable Voodoo (if you have it), then install the corresponding CFRoot kernel to get 2e recovery, then flash this ROM as usual.

Flash that CFRoot kernel. Once you are on 2e recovery, you can apply the CWM.

With new FB app, we got CHAT and PUSH notifications..
Any 1 getting PUSH messages on phone ? and if its REAL push , why do we still see "Time Interval" option in settings of FB app /.

Note : PUSH will work only for 2.2 Users.

do mean i should change the name of the file to update.zip?

i have OCLF v2 lag fix and my sgs is froyo rooted using z4root.

so i shoul dput the update .zip to the root of the phone and try to update via recovery mode.

so once i do the update how will i clear the batter stats. that also from the recovery mode or it will automatically delete the battery stats.
