Android and MetroPCS "3g"

You need to say you already programmed your phone and you have 3 bars of signal and they will reset your service and ask you to call *228 again for reprogramming and the 3g signal.

I really don't know why you are trying to make Cricket sound bad. I didn't have to say any of those things. I just called the Customer Service number and told them I was having a problem and asked them to reset it. They were very accommodating and never asked me how many bars were showing or if my phone had already been programmed.

My phone worked just as soon as I got it and activated it per the instructions that came with it.

It was simple!

I have the Huawei Ascend and I'm in the Phoenix area in AZ. My 3G works great even up in the mountains. My carrier is Cricket. I had NO problem with activating 3G. I'm pretty sure the *228 only works for Cricket users.

The reason that 3G works so well for Cricket is that they have a relatively new 5 year coverage contract with Sprint.

Cricket raised their price on the Huawei today to 139.99 online. (same as the Zio)

The 3g is not because of the Sprint contract. How do you know that the *228 doesn't work for MetroPCS?

I said that about MetroPCS, not Cricket . Croce works fine.

Because I have seen posts by MetroPCS users. The technicians don't even know what they are talking about if they mention *228 to them. Cricket Ascend and MPCS Ascend each are programmed differently.

This post simply isn't accurate.

I have no problems with Cricket. I am writing about METROPCS, not Cricket. That post I made about Cricket ripping me off was only a sidenote. But the post were you thought that I was making MetroPCS look bad, I meant that to force the customer representatives to reset data.

It says to call *228 to program when you buy the METROPCS version also. You said you know very little about MetroPCS

Okay. In that case I hope it will help them to do that for the MetroPCS users. I don't know about Ascend phones bought from Metro but I do know that I can reset the data on my Cricket phone myself without having to have cust svc do it. It's all in the manual for those who take time to read it.

Oh okay. I have never had a MetroPCS phone. But I see that there are a lot of confused Metro users with the Ascend.

I have just never had a problem. The phone is easy as pie IMO.

I know that. I am saying to call customer srvce for Metro, not Cricket. Cricket is fine. This thread is for Metro.

That's good! If I can help someone else to have the great experience I have then I'm happy! I can afford to have Verizon and a much more expensive phone. Cricket was kind of an experiment for me when I first began to use the service.

I read so many posts where people are confused about what phone or what carrier to go with and most stuff is so negative. So if I can put some positive info out about my own experience then I'm very happy to do it.

Sorry if you have a problem with that!

PS...My 'experiment' with Cricket has been a wonderful learning process and I have learned how much I can save with them as well as have a great phone! (The Ascend!)

Jazziette should be banned from the forums. She is putting Cricket people down.

Hello, i am a public high school student. Plus I do not have a problem with that. I also love Cricket. I have no idea what you're talking about.

First of all Metro pcs does not have 3g. It has 2g and 4g. I am not exactly sure if 4g will work with the ascend. I really do hope that Metro pcs gets better coverage and faster speed soon!

Can you please support your post:)

There you go. Sorry folks, the 1x problem on Metro can't be solved. Since the ascend doesn't have 4g antenna, and the only other metro option is 2g, i guess metro ascend users are stuck with 1x.

I think joser116 is feeding everyone BS.

I have never seen any "3G" on metro. Plus several report say that Metro "skipped" on upgrading its network to 3G...instead going to LTE.

Even reports still show that Metro's LTE network operates @ "3G like" speeds.

So even though the Ascend and Optimus say 3G the network only oprates @ "2.5G" or the 1X you see on the phone.

Look @ the manual....there is a separate icon for 3G...but it never shows up.

The whole hot spot deal is to make your phone look like its "3G like". If you are on WiFi OF COURSE it will go fast.

For folks on Cricket and ... ones who remember Helio, but operate using Sprints network, which is 3G. Helio was just simply piggybacking off Sprint...they didn't need to build out their own network, just use the infrastructure that is already there.

My fix worked for Cricket. I was posting my fix to see if it also worked for metro. Now I know it doesnt cause I have recognized thank to bking that Metro lacks 3g. Hence my reply to his post, where I post the results, which are that my fix doesnt work. It was worth a try.
