Official Motorola Atrix Review Thread!!

Engadget review will be the most informative? I think that post was missing the #sarcasm tag, because the poster surely cannot have been serious about that.

You don't have to agree with their opinions to realize that they often go much more in depth than some other reviewers.

Compared to some that may be true, but their reviews are rubbish for depth compared to reviewers I actually trust (places like GSMarena - try comparing any Engadget review Vs one of GSMarena's). The only thing I tend to like about Engadgets reviews is their hardware/build quality review, which tends to be nice and in depth, and also tends to highlight small flaws others may not discuss).

Oh! Someone else is waiting for the GSMarena review too :) I just hope they don't take *cough* forever to get the review out though. The thing with GSMArean's review is that it's detailed and standard so that it's easy to compare multiple phone reviews.

Engadget review will be up soon, wonder what this means...

Thats a pretty low class thing to say and not release your review before the pre-order starts

I'm pretty curious what this review is going to be like, but honestly I'll be pretty surprised if he reveals any shocking revelation that hasn't been said at some point in the wealth of reviews already out there. I actually do like engadget's reviews for the most part and I like the detail they go into, but I just doubt there's going to be anything groundbreaking. I'm still looking forward to reading it though. My guess is he's going to dog on the screen, the "4g", a little on blur, probably some on the call quality, and the laptop dock but like most of the rest of it. I'll be surprised if he gives it less than 6 or more than 8.

i don't care too much about the reviews, i just enjoy reading them. a lot of stuff is subjective and personal opinion/preference.

what concerns me about a smartphone is typically stuff that's never covered in the reviews (ie dev stuff) that are clearly aimed more at consumers.

I hope he is only warning pre-order folks because of the laptop dock and his issues with AT&T's network, neither of which are issues for me.

I am also anxiously awaiting Engadget's review of the Atrix. Oh, and regarding reviews of the Atrix ...

I understand that a big part of the hype with this phone is the Laptop dock. And I also understand being disappointed by the high price (as I am). That being said, I think it's idiotic to use the price of said dock as a "con" when reviewing the phone:

(i) It's an optional accessory.
(ii) No other phones even have this option (at any price point).
(iii) The laptop dock's cost in no way devalues the phone as a stand-alone product.

If they don't like it, they should pretend it never existed when reviewing it. Otherwise, when I read these reviews, they might as well say "Con: it doesn't output 1200p video."

I'm a little bummed about the display. I was incredibly stoked by the bump in resolution (and the ~275PPI it hit), but the PenTile sub-pixel configuration is making me really [re]evaluate it.

It's one of my beefs with my Captivate.

PenTile LCD and PenTile AMOLED are two totally different things.

I think the longer a website has the phone, the more accurate their review will be. These first looks and hands on videos don't really mean that much to me i want to what they thought of the phone after a week of normal usage.

We are very impatients and want what they have seen/tested with the Atrix NOW. Thus these pre-reviews that the blog sites release. It's like dangling a carrot infront of the donkey. It keeps us going back to their sites ;) I believe we all know that these are just 'pre-reviews' but don't really mind. A pre-review is better than no review. I rather not be left in the dark if I don't have to be...if you know what I mean ;)

I think that the alleged tweet from Josh at Engadget was precisely this and incredibly distasteful. I get that he needs to promote his website and increase traffic, but saying something like that can be quite misleading and perhaps unfair. Just post the review. I dont need a preview of a review.

Was just reading some reviews at Engadget and they all have a common theme: how does phone x compare to the iphone4. They also complain about the packaging / box the phones are shipped in! Come on who cares about the box! They also rated the Defy higher than the HTC mytouch4g so I won't hold my breath waiting for their review.
