I believe the XDA link is in the thread as well, if not a link to the Dev's website is for sure. It's worth a test for sure.

) comes w/ a kernel, a sense based ROM usually comes with a HTC kernel. A lot of people have great success as far as battery and performance are concerned w/o having to flash a custom kernel. So to answer your questions, yes, you can flash one w/o the other. You can have a stock rooted ROM w/ a custom kernel or have a custom ROM w/ a stock kernel. Yes, some ROM's increase performance by optimizing files w/in the ROM for speed. You would only be missing out on something by not flashing a custom kernel, if you're looking to overclock your phones CPU to increase performance.
