Froyo EC05 (DI18 users - Install instructions post 39)!

Just contacted Sprint Support, ECO5 Update pulled early March 24th, memo was given to sprint personnel about this.

Yeah, I was just on the phone with them and he said he got the email today, and said even though some people may have gotten the upgrade over the air today that it may have just been an accident. I guess other people started complaining about it again... I will get another call at around 6pm CST about this issue and how we can maybe update ota... I will get back to all of you.

The EC05 Update that you have on zip. Is that Legit? Like legal or will it coid phone warranties?

I went step by step and when I get to the part where I select the update.zip file in the system recovery utils it tells me
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)

Any suggestions as to why im getting that??
 
I guess I won't let it finish installing then after all - I mean, they wouldn't pull it without a reason, yeah?

There is such a tiny amount if internal storage space for apps on the epic, it really needs the app2SD from Froyo.

I think I'll finally figure out how to root instead. My deal with myself was - only gonna do that if they don't/won't update. Such a headache.

The update.zip in post 39 is directly from google's system and is the same one that is/was pushed to phones.

It is technically a Sprint supported update.

Make sure it's not labelled update.zip.zip. Chances are that it already had .zip on the end and you added an extra.

Also make sure that it's not inside of any folders on your SD card.

I got nothing either i got the exact same error as you. ugh i want froyo nowwww!!!!! So i can finally save to my SD card..

I renamed it exactly as specified update.zip and i still got the error, could this be google halting it or what?
 
Take the .zip that you added and remove it and see if it works.

If you have it downloaded, google can't halt it.


You are on DI18 right now, right?

GOt it!!!

When you rename it just rename it to "Update" that is it, no zip. (For windows users...)
 
So they pulled it huh?

EPIC FAIL!

I'm really starting to think that this phone is a doomed lemon. It's a very expensive lemon.

I'm mad as Hell and I want my money back. I hate this buggy EB13 version. Sprint needs to fix this or we should start a class action lawsuit.
 
Based on the comments I've been reading since the update began, it doesn't seem to me that EC05 is all that different from EB13. Sprint needs to assure Epic owners that ALL the documented problems which were responsible for EB13 being pulled have in fact been addressed in this new release. Or else, what is the point?
 
I just got the update. People at the sprint forums said it gets triggered by downoading apps from the market or updating what you have. I did both and it worked. I was on DI18

i just now got the same thing as the picture in the post above me. and i never did a factory reset either, and i was having all the problems with unable to updade prl,profile and firmware as well as my phone suddenly was acting up,(no connection, freezing up,real slow,etc..),and im not rooted, stock eclair DI18, anyway, im in process of getting update now

I never got EB13, and I've been waiting patiently all week- so far, nada. :(

EDIT: Speak of the devil. It's downloading right now!

Son of EDIT: Something's not right- it's been "downloading" for over thirty minutes now. Is anyone awake around here with some suggestions?
