Xoom WIFI ONLY - can preorder now!

I guess it's available on 27th which is a sunday. Amazon ship out on the 28th Monday and deliver on 29th. That's quite logical to me. Getting it online saves $58.5 on Sales Tax in California.
 
yeah, it's logical, but would have liked them to ship Saturday, and get to my door Monday. I'm just being impatient is all. One more day isn't going to kill me, right? :P

And yeah, avoiding tax is a good deal too.

Oh, and where's my email, dammit?

Edit* Got my email just now, delivery estimate is the 29th as well. Oh well, wait 2 days to save 50$ in tax, I'll settle for it :/
 
I have pre-ordered other items from Amazon before. They are usually very conservative about delivery date. Hopefully they will ship out earlier.

Haha, yeah that is very true. Last time I had an order shipped by UPS they said the delivery label was wrong and couldn't deliver. I then checked the order invoice and it was correct. The driver was just an idiot and misread the label -.-

I agree with the UPS sentiment. Every time I order from monoprice my package gets delayed because of UPS. A snow storm once, a derailed train another time, who knows why the rest of the times. I kills me the company always has commercials about logistics and rerouting and yet my packages always get stuck with them.
 
i have never been so excited to get a product i have called staples about 12 times in the past 2 days because they have screwed up my payments and what ever else. I called staples today to see how many they were getting in and got pissed because they said i could hold one if i called on sat and would be able to pick up sunday but now i have to wait till monday to get mine becuase when i called to cancel my order it was already processing :mad:
 
I haven't had as bad of luck as you guys with UPS. They've been pretty solid for the most part in my experience, except for one time when they really screwed up.

My wife and I lived on a college university campus, but we had our own independent mailing address (not something like "College Dorm Room # 14".) For some reason the UPS driver saw the address and assumed that it should be delivered to the school as opposed to our house. I flipped my lid. It took us like 4 days to get the package and in the meantime I thought it was lost completely and I had to order another one. The only little bit of credit I can give the guy is that he saw my wife's name on the package and remembered that she worked at the school, but the 2nd and 3rd lines of the "To" address should have told him otherwise. Actually in the end it worked out to our benefit, because it was a Kindle I ordered for my dad's birthday and because it was filed as a lost package we got a 2nd one for free, which I kept for myself and have loved ever since. It single handedly got me back into reading books.

Still, 1 bad time versus 99+ good times is still a pretty good track record in my book.

Thanks God I can drive to Monoprice and pick up from Will-Call:D I literally live like 15 minutes away from Monoprice. I use them all the time.

UPS year after year after year ranks at or near the top of deliveries completed on time, their only competition for quality of service is Fedex. Both companies average in the mid-nineties on percentage of deliveries completed on time. Both companies deliver millions of packages a day do they have service disconnects yes, do they damage packages yes. No delivery company is going to offer 100% reliability.
 
I dunno, I must be very unlucky because UPS has for the most part of my experience with them, have delivered late, or haven't delivered at all, or even delivered to a different address. I would say a good 30-40% of the times this has happened :/ My fedex experience has been much better than ups.

Anyways, back on topic, cannot wait for my Xoom to come in, still hoping for it to be shipped today or tomorrow :D

I went to my BestBuy and was able to pre-order. They will be getting in 4 units and the guy said he saw 1000's at the warehouse. I was the 1st person to Pre-Order. I will pick up the WiFi unit and return the 3G unit. He would have sold me one if they had it in the store, but said they are on the way.

Lol, only 4 units on launch day? I hope costco gets more than that first day.
 
I'm not surprise. With IPad 2 already out, and more and more honeycomb tablets coming out this year, the Xoom is looking less and less attractive these days.
 
Just a heads up to everyone, some Staples location are already selling the Xoom wifi. There are a few people reporting that they have purchased it already and there is an unboxing video at Android central. I checked with a couple of Staples locations near me and though not all of them would sell it today 3 stores told me that i could go on down and pick one up.

On a side note, how is everyone liking the grey/silver back on the Xoom wifi?

Lucky, I'm still waiting for costco. They aren't releasing it early, at least not the ones here.
 
or not, costco just called me back and said wifi version 589 instock and I can go pick it up now. I'll go after work, I hope noone is buying them!
