Root Fission 2.6.1

Just signed up and loading up. Had I know what a pain it was I would have never paid for this rom. I figured once you donated you could simply download from the site but it directs you to one of those "download now, or wait 90 seconds" with multiple options all meant to get you to give the download service more $$. Just a pain. Too many prompts and password entries...they got to get this right to get any love from here...

Edit: It will not load for me. Did the wipe per usual, data, cache, delvik, bat stats and it force closes after I sign in. I tried again wiping each item 3 times and still no go, I want a refund.

I took fabers advice and downloaded thru fission rom manager and all installed well, media fire or whatever the download links were was really screwing the download up. Anyway, nice rom. Smooth, fast, and well thought out options and placement. Thanks...$5 well spent.

I have tried Liberty 1.5, Apex 1.4.1, Rubix 1.9.7 Focused, and Fission 2.6.1.

Now my only question is why do ROMs run so well for the first 2 days then get slower and slower and slower? Its like what happens to my computer after I reformat and its super fast and 2 months later its slow as crap, but with the phone it only takes a week. Does the amount of apps you have affect performance? I find myself having to re-flash every week to keep the phone running smooth, and its taking way too much time for me to set up each time I flash.

I picked up Cache Cleaner from the market. Set it to auto run every couple of days and clean out my delvik cache via Tibu every week or so and never seem to have a problem.

Well you can add one more person to the list of people on 2.6.1. I have been on all of the ROMs....I think and even tried 2.3.4. I have not been on fission since the very early days and wow has this improved. I started on 2.5.7 and just made the donation this morning to jump to 2.6.1.

I have to admit of the recent ROMs 2.5.7 was one of the snappiest that I have had and the battery life was not bad, it gets me through a day, which is all I ask. Excited to start using 2.6.1

It's a Fission party! Thanks to faber, bouchigo, trooper and all the rest of the Fission praisers. It's a really smooth and fast ROM. Now, let's see if I can kill it! :D :D

[REQUEST] Bo- If you have the time, would you mind making a zip for me? I am looking for the BWC battery only. It would match the rest of the notification icons for stock Fission and would greatly appreciate it!

You mean the gray one right, not the blue one?

bouchigo, you have done some real nice things, added a few to mine from what you have done before. Would you mind cracking the boatloader for us next? :D

Sorry just had to ask, I am finally to the point in the anger process from what happened this weekend to where I can joke about it. Never the less, thanks for all of you enhancements that you have put in this tread!

EDIT:
This is for stock Fission, if you have a black status bar, then scroll down a couple of posts and use that zip instead.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here it is, I removed both data throttle and clock:

Hopefully the Tag text is visible because stock Fission Tag text is black.

Expect a long reboot, about 3-5 minutes.

Is there a way to add text to the pull down menu that way it doesn't say "Verizon Wireless"????? Would like to personalize this but not sure if I can or how too exactly. Just curious if it could be added to a zip?

Where's my 20lb. sledge hammer, I'll crack that sucker right now....lol :D

It's not too difficult, just take the theme, or if you used a zip to mod your battery or to get the no throttle mod and extract the framework-res.apk from it.

Basically do this:

1. Navigate to res/xml/, find eri.xml and extract it to your desktop. You can either close the open archive of framework-res.apk or close it and just open it back up later when you have to put the modded eri.xml back.
2. Right click eri.xml on desktop open it with HxD or any hex editor you prefer.
3. Look on the right side of the screen where all the text is and find "Verizon Wireless"
4. Highlight "Verizon wireless" (the whole text line)
5. While it's highlighted, type your new text in it's place (16 letters max.; if you have less than 16 characters in mind, use spaces until you have fulfilled the 16 character limit, meaning you have to reach the ...)
6. Now all you do is save your modded eri.xml and drag it back into the framework-res.apk archive.
7. You may now close the framework-res.apk archive.
8. Put the modded framework-res.apk back where you extracted it from, be it the theme you are using or the zip mod you took it from.
9. Now simply flash the theme or zip mod back to your phone through bootstrap.
10. That's it, you are done. All you do now is simply wait for the phone to boot up and enjoy your new text.

Dude those directions were point on, thanks for the help. I am so horrified when trying things like this in fear that I will jack it up and the change went flawless. You are the effin man!:D

Thanks Bo! Think I will have to try this with the battery zip you just made for me once I get home from work.

It was a piece of cake bro. If i can do it I am sure just about anyone can. Just follow the directions to a T and you will have your new pull down text in no time....:D

So is it just me, or does the display setting not seem to want to stick after being waking up after sleeping for awhile? I have my default sent to 22%, but I have noticed that the screen looks a lot brighter than that. I have the dazzle widget where I can one-touch the brightness from my setting to Max to Min and back to my setting. If I do this where I started at 22% is a lot brighter than where I end at 22% after cycling through all of these. I can tell this has hurt my battery. I have switched to the Min setting and while a little to dark for my likings my battery life has GREATLY improved. I would love this to be able to stay at 22% brightness all the time, it seems to be between 50% to 70% if I have had it sleeping for awhile (or rebooted it).

Paid my five bucks and the site is closed...figures. No site, support. Waste of money.
you know....i noticed that when i tied to open fission rom manager and hit list downloads it didnt pull up anything....
if the site is down long, id think not taking money would be in order....
