Root [ROM RELEASE] Velocity V1.1

I don't mean to sound dumb, but what are the steps I need to take in order to upgrade from Velocity 1.0 to Velocity 1.1?

Also, I want to back up this time, it seems like Titanium Backup Pro is what most people are using. Is that the best app for backup and restore on this phone?

Thanks in advance :)

As for backup... Titanium Backup works...but if you use the OTA, OR the flashable, you shouldn't have to wipe data, just the two caches. And also, don't forget about the backup option right in the scripts.

This is not true.

Wiping data will ensure that multimedia messaging will work.

But a good number of people can flash without wiping, I am one of them my multimedia messages work fine.

Also it is multimedia messaging that breaks, not text messaging.
Well, pardon me for a minute error in terminology.
Maybe you can explain why multimedia messaging DOES NOT work correctly without a data wipe on some devices, yet it does on your device?
In the other thread that's now locked, Trident said that it was a data error when not wiping data that was causing the issues.
To quote him:
Trident said:
Well, it looks like a complete wipe may be the only option. When removing certain Android data entries in an attempt rectify the issue, we found that some refused to rebuild after removal. This is likely because they are built only on first boot. Though we got MMS working through this method, the home button actually stopped functioning due to the missing data entries.
What am I misunderstanding here?
I'm just trying to help out with the endless questions you guys have to deal with over and over again by telling people how to avoid those problems to begin with.

We've been running velocity as test builds with the new MMS.apk for a while now. Thats why it works on his and a few other devices. Simply because those required data entries are there already.

We only wipe cache and dalvik cache when flashing test builds. PLUS we dont usually have our Ally's activated, thats why some things like the MMS thing escapes testing.

That makes sense.
Not a big deal really...it's just alot easier to not have to wipe data and is probably why most prefer that method. It's quicker, and most are well.....
lazy. :D

Today I tried out a lock-screen app, didn't like it so I immediately uninstalled it. After that I noticed that, for some reason, my phone decided to uninstall Wireless and Wired tether ......as well as Velocity wallpapers?
I'm not sure what happened and I didn't do anything different or drastic today.
So If anyone knows of some way I could get these apps re-installed I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys!!!

Big props to the whole team. This rom is hands dowm amazing. Couldn't have asked for more. You guys are amazing.

Hear hear! Velocity 1.1 is outstanding. I'd been having some home screen refresh delays on 1.0, and after moving dalvik to cache to free up RAM, started having issues with the screen going dead a few times a day, forcing a battery pull and reboot. I was about ready to start looking for a used Droid 2 when Velocity 1.1 was announced.

I've been running it for a few days now and it's been rock solid.

Kudos to the team on a job very well done. Donation forthcoming.

Hey there ya'll!
My phone says i have 120m avail., but@ 40m to work with at any given time. I want to know what is using all of my internal memory? I don't have very many apps running when I check running services. Also, When I make my Nandroid backups, which boxes am I supposed to check?
And what are the pros and cons of odexing? Thanks to anyone who can help a middle-aged whitey!!!

Whats up whitey! When youre making a nandroid i would check everything except sdext and recovery. When you say you have 120mb available that the phones internal memory which apps and such take up, youll never be able to use all of that as RAM. 40mb of RAM is about all youre gonna get unless you run the phone bare, but then you may as well have gotten a feature phone in my opinion. I usually only have 40-50 when i first boot up and 20ish throughout the day. Having the memory used up doesnt necessarily mean its gonna gunk up and slow down your phone. For the most part the things held in memory arent using any other resources and will come up much faster when you use them. And as you need more the OS will kill off older processes to give you more

odexing will save some space (30mbish) but you wont be able to change your theme and you have to reflash to undo it. But you have PLENTY of space so unless you know youre not gonna change the theme i wouldnt bother with it. Other than the space vs theme, odexing doesnt make much difference. Others may argue it makes it "faster" but i think the general consensus (cant spell that) is that it doesnt make any notable performance difference.

Will this help I heart radio be more stable?

Not sure what you have found regarding IHeartRadio, but I switched to TuneIn and recently redownloaded IHeart v. 3.0.2 and it seems to be much more stable as far as not always buffering etc, but it is actually usable for me now!
