Root 1 Click root app on the market

I have two questions,

One, what is the purpose of rooting if GB is already rooted? Will it speed up root permissions at boot? Cause I have noticed it takes a bit for your apps to get root permissions on GB.

And question two is, if I double root, can I make my droid spit quarters at me?

1) nothing
2) absolutely. :p

Just installed z4root, but only run Temp Root option. I assume that one will last as long as I don't reboot the phone. So, I was thinking that now I have root permission and can finally clean up VZ Navigator and Madden NFL 11. Well, its not letting me do that. Does that mean I need to be Perm. rooted in order to clean up that VZ crapware? Also, as a side question from my other thread, once I'm rooted, where do you find APK install files on DX if I want to copy an app from my phone to another phone? Thanks!!!

and last but not least, with z4root, can you un-root back?

Is there another way of backing up besides titanium because it doesn't want to work. I just used z4 and it worked fine. Now what roms can I use?

I Dloaded and installed Z4root and when I click either temp or permanent root it goes through its steps and then my phone goes back to home screen. If I click on z4root again it will say its encountered problems and ask me to force close.

This is on a milestone X by the way but same a Droid just not verizon.

thanks for any advice

JB

I updated to 2.3.3 last week. Am I correct that this is the software version referred to as Gingerbread? Also, prior to the update I had rooted the phone. The old root app, Z4Root dod not work to re-root and neither did the other app I later tried, GingerBreak. GingerBreak installed but the attempt to root just hung. The Superuser app is still on my phone from the prior rooting but my apps that require root access no longer work. Any suggestions or direction would be VERY appreciated. Thank you!!

My Droid X is rooted using Z4root, I will be getting the Gingerbread update soon. Do I have to unroot before updating, or is there anything special I have to do before updating?

If you had any app frozen/renamed/deleted, you need to get them back in place otherwise OTA will fail. I think updating to GB will remove the root anyway, though I did unroot before updating.

So did I! Now everyone will click on it, thinking we have gb 1-step root because I posted.

Gingerbreak won't root .595 or .596(OTA)... so it really doesn't pertain to this unless you are running one of the original DX leaks.

You gotta be kidding me. Steven don't you ever use a lint brush on this forum? Look at this big loose thread just hanging around here with no good purpose.......:p

Update: z4root is now available here and is a better option than visionary for us since it is geared toward all phones and not just the G2.

No need for a computer anymore

Visionary

Its made by Paul OBrien of Modaco for the G2 and has a bunch of options for rerooting on boot and that type of thing but just ignore those options. It works fine on the DX. I tried it the other day when I had to sbf.

Update:Visionary was pulled from the market but you can find it here

19/Nov r14: VISIONary + one click root - Android @ MoDaCo

I have had the droid X for a year now and have been hesitant to root my phone. I'm finally ready. I have been doing some research and I like this z4root program. I already have Gingerbread via OTA, but have not tried z4root yet. Has anyone had success getting this to work with stock OTA gingerbread? Or should I look via other means to root?

Now everyone will click this thread and think the 1-Click app for GB is out. Especially since they JUST rooted GB.

I have the DX and have had it rooted for some time now using the Z4 root v.1.3.0 on the 2.2 froyo but last night Verizon pushed the 2.3.3 gingerbread onto my phone the system ver. is 4.5.605 and now after the update I am finding that it is no longer rooted. I see that you guys updated this post saying that I can use the Z4 (which is still installed on my phone) still but I have also seen on my googling that alot of posts are talking about you actually have to revert back to froyo to root gingerbread. Is this right, or can I just press permanent root again on my Z4 v1.3.0 OR do i have to unroot and re-root. so many questions. sorry, just looking for clarification on the minor nuances.

PS. I have seen other posts that talk about a one click method with gingerbreak while others talk about using Z4 v1.1.0. I have no idea what is experimental and what is tested and who is just talking out of their asses. your help is greatly appreciated.
