LoL shuddup jk yeah, why is it that most aosps are cm7 based? was the code just written taht well that people dont think they can write a better one? I also wonder what other aosps are cm7 based, i.e. is miui? everevolv? your mama? oh wait, that last one isnt aosp... matter of fact shes not a rom at all.... wait, what were we talking about?

I'll never profess to be a dev, but I think there is room for improvements on cm7 code. Most devs do make some mods to it. Some it seems are mostly themes and are called roms...some modify cm a little and optimize it some more and such but...still seems like cm to me. I dont thinks its about the code being written that well but cm has made some substantial changes and to go back and do those yourself to get it to the functionality of cm would be too time consuming at this point so its easier to use their base...especially with official gb OTA apparently around the corner IMO.

No miui and evervolv are not cm base they are from source, well at least evervolv is, i dont know much about MIUI its some chinese stuff ;).

Evervolv, MIUI, and OMGB are the only aosp that dont use cm as a base that I am aware of...?

Feel free to correct me if im wrong, ive never developed a rom myself...

My mama has no idea what a rom is, she still has a flip phone. Probably ought to get a jitterbug soon lol :D

Yeah koni I'm super curious what software versions you are using on 4...I've been wondering if this one would be a change up from 2.2 and 3.7...? Give us a hint or a tease :)
 
call me slow if you must but i dont know anything about kernals i do have this rom on my evo but i was wondering what would be a better kernel to run this because my battery life is horrible.can anyone help?

Kidding, check out netarchy 4.3.X kernels. I suggest cfs and sbc myself, havs more or less up to your phone. Someone hit him with the sbc disclaimer :). And a link I'm on phandroid.

ok so kernels are basically the go between software and hardware and it determines how much power to give too both. there are two basic types of kernels. there are one for sense roms and ther are ones for aosp (non sense roms). they will never mix and match so you have to know what type of rom you are on. this thread being about koni's elite means that you want a sense kernel. netarchy toastmod are the best ones to try. you can get them in my sig ref#2. also check out ref#3 in my sig. it will give you some kernel terminology. any other questions feel free to ask.
 
I'm a noob to rooting and just flashed this over the weekend. Love this ROM. I just wish I could get the sense clock (on ADW launcher) on Launcher Pro. I Flashed the Launcher Pro launcher from your site but no clock

Try fancy widgets or beautiful widgets from market, all kinds of similar sense looking replacement clocks...
 
Damn it Koni! Ive never anticipated the release of a rom so much as this one. Not having it is driving me nuts lol I check everyday. Im running all the new fangled stuff but its not the same as a well built rom with everything working that has the attention to detail that yours has come to be known for. Hurry up friend :) im tired of my screen being on 100% brightness lol
 
Thanks Evomatt but I couldn't find the one that Konikub put on his ROM. I think he customized the stock sense clock so it's not available and I cannot put it on launcher pro because he has ADW as the default launcher.

You can't use sense widgets on a different launcher. Hence my suggestion for those others. Also there are a ton of themed clocks over on xda in the evo theme section you can use on launcher pro and adw. Pretty sure es3 has a themed launcher pro you can flash near the top of his thread on xda also
 
I know. I love the clock but I am not a fan of ADW. I'm going to flash the Boogaloo Blue theme now

Maybe this is why I'm confused...koni is sense. That is the default launcher, doesn't even come with adw installed...the clock if you are using sense is under widgets and clock it didn't look themed in the preview but it will be...?
 
I like LP (Plus) widgets. They look really sharp w/his ROM. I wish I could get that clock that he customized. I know I can't because it's sense.

Never mind. I thought he put ADW as the default. My mistake (See I'm a noob). It looks like ADW to me though. That is why I was confused.
 
Koni, is there a possible release date for IV. I am not happy with my 3vo with HTC locking the bootloader and the fact they reduced the width of the screen more than an 1/8 of an inch..I really loved all that real estate, they have turned the Evo into a Iphone clone. This more than anything kills the phone for me so i am really interested in Elite 4.

He posted in XDA that there should be something soon. I am waiting too because I just flashed back to ES3 briefly and if he has ES4 coming soon, I will be there.
 
Yeah so koni finally stopped by on xda. lots going in koni's life right now. So best wishes to him and his family.

Anyhow he said in his spare time he did a theme for miui which will show up on their site. And he has a ginger sense 3.0 rom to release soon which will show up on xda.

LoL Konis stuff is about the only sense rom ill use :) he does great work and always seems to be quite friendly in whatever forum he is in!
